Abstract: Systems and methods to validate restriction event control streams sent to a video distribution system are provided. A particular method includes receiving a control stream from a content provider via a content proxy device. The control stream is associated with a restriction event and directs a media service delivery platform to associate a substitute service with a virtual network for at least one geographical region. The method also includes evaluating validity of the control stream based on content proxy information associated with the content proxy device.

Abstract: Methods and systems for validating digital asset submissions to a network-based digital asset distribution site are disclosed. The validation can be performed in an automated (i.e., computer-implemented) manner at the network-based digital asset distribution site. In one embodiment, the validation of digital asset submissions can include at least schema validation, such as multi-pass schema validation. Upon successful validation, the corresponding digital asset submissions can be made available for online purchase and distribution.

Abstract: A method and system for performing one or more preventative maintenance functions for a data-processing apparatus. One or more notifications regarding daily maintenance functions can be generated in the form of a reminder when the data-processing apparatus begins operation. A history of the maintenance functions performed can be stored in a memory through remote data pushes. An email alert can be generated and transmitted to a user regarding incomplete maintenance functions in order to track the maintenance activities. The data-processing apparatus can be monitored in a consolidated manner and the occurrence of fault information stored and then rapidly retrieved to provide notifications indicative of such maintenance data.

Abstract: Reporting and processing computer operation failure alerts, including deploying on a computer in a computing environment a plurality of alert reporting agents, the computing environment including a plurality of computers including a system management server that monitors the operating conditions of the other computers in the computing environment, the computer also including an alert generator configured to accept registrations of alert reporting agents, to generate alerts of present or pending failure, and to provide the generated alerts to registered alert reporting agents; registering the alert reporting agents with the alert generator; designating a primary alert reporting agent among registered alert reporting agents that communicate alerts to a same system management server; communicating a computer operation failure alert to all registered agents; and communicating, by the primary alert reporting agent only, the alert to the system management server.

Abstract: A control system for fault detection has a control device for a measurement value signal, and a processor having a program that calculates at least one actuating value signal operatively connected to an actuator. At two process points in the control program, at least one control point (K) is defined at which the control device outputs a program output value, which forms a monitoring signal, and outputs the latter to a monitoring device. The monitoring signal contains at least two signal elements of three possible signal elements, wherein a first signal element represents the control point through which the control program should have run through directly before the present control point, and a second signal element which represents the present control point, and a third signal element which represents the next control point provided in the program process. The monitoring device checks the monitoring signals for the correct state, and a state signal can be output as a fault signal.

Abstract: A device setting apparatus performs setting operation with respect to a counterpart apparatus using secure communication even when the counterpart apparatus is not previously provided with information required for secure communication. The device setting apparatus detects an error when the error occurs during the setting operation, and executes a browser to request a user to correct the error during the setting operation.

Abstract: Message type validation occurs at a message producer before a message is sent to a message destination. A message producer system includes an administrator component, which stores message type parameters associated with a message destination. A message is created for the message destination and a validation component at the message producer system checks the created message for conformity with the stored message type parameters for the message destination. An error is reported if the message type does not conform to the stored message type parameters associated with the message destination. The validation component checks the created message for conformity after a publish call by the message producer system and before a send call and, therefore, prevents an invalid or non-conforming message from being sent.

Abstract: Architecture that facilitates asynchronous error handling of validation failures, which enables rapid editing in web applications without forcing the end user to wait for server responses or interrupting successive edits. A technical infrastructure is provided that tracks changes over time as well as marks and resolves validation failures. A user interface creates and presents visual cues for validation failures on both a row and cell granularity. Cell-level and row-level validation failures are processed as well as contextually relevant errors and messages. The architecture affords for cycling through multiple errors, and hiding error details unless interacted with by the end user. Support is provided for rapid and type safe editing in a web-based environment and for non-blocking validation failures.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that facilitate identifying messages generated on a mobile device while the device is offline as requiring encryption, storing the messages in a message outbox with a flag indicating that encryption is required, and identifying recipients of the flagged messages to generate a recipient list. The recipient list can be piggybacked on a server synchronization request when the mobile device enters a period of online activity, and a server can return public keys associated with identified recipients to permit an encryption component, such as a secure/multipurpose Internet mail extension protocol (S/MIME) encryption component, in the mobile device to encrypt the messages.

Abstract: The operation of a powered device is monitored to detect a failure condition, the powered device connected to power sourcing equipment by a communications channel including inline power delivery from the power sourcing equipment to the powered device. Diagnostic information is captured including (i) configuration and status information identifying the power sourcing equipment, the communications channel, and status of the inline power delivery at the time of detection of the failure condition, and (ii) failure information identifying the failure condition. This diagnostic information is stored as diagnostic information signals in an electronic memory which is electronically accessible by an external user as part of a failure analysis process. By this process, diagnostic information pertaining to the operation of the powered device with the power sourcing equipment and the communications channel is captured and stored, providing greater information for more thorough failure analysis.

Abstract: A system for reporting and analyzing problems encountered by computer users. The system includes a recording tool executing on a user computer to capture a sequence of user interactions in the context of a graphical user interface. When a problem or other stop event is encountered, the tool generates a report indicating user interactions leading to the stop event, including information such as the specific sequence of controls for specific programs accessed by the user. The report can be analyzed to identify a sequence of user interactions characteristic of a problem type, which in turn may be used to find a solution for a particular user's problem. The system may also include a server that receives and analyzes reports from multiple computer users to identify patterns of user interactions that characterize problem types. This information may be used for associating specific problems with future reports or to provide information to software developers for improving their products.

Abstract: A method to detect an event between a data source and a data sink using a trigger core is described herein. The method comprises monitoring control lines and an associated data stream for a programmable pattern, wherein the pattern is one or more of a condition, state or event. The method further comprises generating an indication by updating a status register, sending an interrupt or asserting a control line upon a pattern match.

Abstract: Techniques for improving a troubleshooting experience by providing a common troubleshooting framework. Such a framework may enable use of common elements between troubleshooters and lead to similarities between troubleshooting packages, which may improve the user experience. Further, a framework may reduce the amount of knowledge and time necessary to create troubleshooting packages, and thus encourage increased development of these troubleshooting packages. In some implementations of the framework, a troubleshooting package may be implemented in a declarative manner that outlines/describes the problems it solves and the potential solutions to those problems. The declarative troubleshooting packages may then be provided to the troubleshooting framework and may provide direction to the framework, in that the framework may execute functions as directed by the troubleshooter.

Abstract: A method of operation of a cognitive radio in a hierarchical group of cognitive radios, the hierarchy of cognitive radios including at least one master cognitive radio that has a higher position in the hierarchy than another of the cognitive radios in the group, consistent with the present invention, involves establishing a first operational policy for the group of cognitive radios; determining that the operational policy is unsuitable for use by at least one member of the group; and the master cognitive radio dictating a change in the operational policy used by the group to a second operational policy for use by the group.

Abstract: A conveyor-stack test system has motherboards that test memory modules. The motherboards are not stationary but are placed inside movable trays that move along conveyors. A loader-unloader removes tested memory modules from test sockets on the motherboards and inserts untested memory modules into the motherboards using a robotic arm. A conveyor carries the motherboards from the loader-unloader to an elevator. The elevator raises or lowers the motherboards to different levels in a conveyor stack with multiple levels of conveyors each with many test stations. The motherboards move along conveyors in the conveyor stack until reaching test stations. A retractable connector from the test station extends to make contact with a motherboard connector to power up the motherboard, which then tests the memory modules. Test results are communicated from the test station to a host controller, which instructs the loader-unloader to sort the tested memory modules once the motherboard returns.

Abstract: An error in a web page displayed on a device is detected. The error is assigned to a bucket to indicate a type of the error, and a record describing the current state of the device is generated. Both an indication of the bucket and the record describing the current state of the device are then sent to a server. At the server, error information including error records and bucket identifiers are received from multiple devices. Each error record describes a current state of one of the multiple devices at a time when an error in a web page displayed on the one device was detected. Each bucket identifier corresponds to one of the error records and describes a type of the error associated with that error record. The error records are grouped into multiple baskets based at least in part on the current state information in the error records.

Abstract: A system, method, and article of manufacture are disclosed for monitoring and resolving problems detected in the application stack. The application stack may include multiple, interpedently application components which collectively provide a unified service. An interactive problem resolution program may monitor and assist users in troubleshooting an application stack installed on a separate computer system. Generally, when a problem in the application stack is detected, the IPR Program may alert users to the problem and provide information about the problem to guide users in taking steps to correct the problem.

Each unit includes structure for interactively communicating with the user for selecting a piece or a menu, a payment device, a computer network card, and a permanent semiconductor memory containing a multitask operating system comprising at least a hard disc access management task. The order for performing a selected piece is processed as a hard disc sequential access task. The hard disc is declared as a peripheral corresponding to the network card of the unit, enabling a request to be sent through the network to the server for processing.

Abstract: A system and method for modifying execution scripts associated with a job scheduler may include monitoring for the execution of a task to determine when the task has failed. Details of the failed task may be identified and used to attempt recovery from the task failure. After initiating any recovery tasks, execution of the recovery tasks may be monitored, and one or more supplementary recovery tasks may be identified and executed, or the original task may be rerun at an appropriate execution point based on the initial point of failure. Thus, when a task has failed, an iterative process may begin where various effects of the failed task are attempted to be rolled back, and depending on the success of the rollback, the initial task can be rerun at the point of failure, or further recovery tasks may be executed.

Abstract: A method of fault notification in a communication apparatus, including terminating transmission of a signal over a transmission link; determining whether or not a specified fault notification signal is detected in a reception link and storing a determination result from the determining; and upon detection of a fault in the reception link after starting an operation, outputting a specified fault notification signal to the transmission link when the stored determination result is affirmative.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to log message processing such that events can be detected and alarms can be generated. For example, log messages are generated by a variety of network platforms (e.g., Windows servers, Linux servers, UNIX servers, databases, workstations, etc.). Often, relatively large numbers of logs are generated from these platforms in different formats. A log manager described herein collects such log data using various protocols (e.g., Syslog, SNMP, SMTP, etc.) to determine events. That is, the log manager may communicate with the network platforms using appropriate protocols to collect log messages therefrom. The log manager may then determine events (e.g., unauthorized access, logins, etc.) from the log data and transfer the events to an event manager. The event manager may analyze the events and determine whether alarms should be generated therefrom.

The server uses the error message to check historical data and find out how to process the error message. This solves the problem of inconvenient notification channel when an application program on the user end discovers an error. Abstract: A method for transmitting time-based media across a network. The method involves receiving at a server a message including time-based media intended for a recipient using a globally addressable email address associated with the recipient. Once the email address is defined, it is determined if the domain of the recipient is either outside or inside the one or more domains of the server. If outside, the method involves using a first DNS lookup result of the globally addressable email address to determine if the recipient receives a near real-time communication service and to ascertain a delivery route to deliver the time-based media of the message to the recipient using a near real-time communication protocol. If the first lookup result is positive, the time-based media of the message is progressively and simultaneously transmitted to the recipient as the time-based media is being created.

Abstract: A method of optimizing the handling of throwables in a real-time compliant java virtual machine includes receiving a throwable generated within a first memory scope area when that scope is exited, traversing the Java stack to identify the application code where the received throwable will be, or should be, caught/handled during program execution, identifying a second memory scope area within the stack of memory scopes, the second memory scope area being the area which will be active during catching and handling of the received throwable, and propagating information from the received throwable to a new ThrowBoundaryError in the second memory scope area irrespective of the scopes between them.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products that provide for a runtime messaging infrastructure, which abstracts send and receive operations for exchanging messages with partner endpoint. The messaging infrastructure improves availability and scalability of a message application by improving on the availability and scalability of the underlying message transports. In particular, availability and scalability are improved by linking the message application at runtime with any number of the message transports, without the message application specifying a transport at development time. The message infrastructure receives instructions from the message application specifying end-to-end delivery assurances. The infrastructure uses transports in order to fulfill the specified delivery assurance, and creates a link between the message application and transports for use in exchanging messages.

Abstract: A system obtains a script containing at least one transaction to be performed with the web site, the at least one transaction defining a sequence of page requests identifying at least one web page to obtain from the web site. The system executes the script to perform the at least one transaction, performance of the at least one transaction including retrieving the sequence of the at least one web page. The system detects a capture event associated with the at least one web page, and in response to the capture event, captures content of the at least one web page. The system packages the content of the at least one web page into a container capable of being rendered, such that the container provides a plurality of components associated with the at least one captured web page, and delivers the container to a repository.

Abstract: Flow information records are identified and sorted out based on the sending and/or receiving customer. Prior art problems are overcome by using a combination of router identification, SNMP numbers and interface numbers to identify the source and destination of data flow records. A flow information packet containing one or more information flow records is received at a flow process and parsed to identify the router source. The datagram of the flow information packet is examined to identify an SNMP number associated with the source and/or destination affiliated with the flow information packet. Based on the SNMP number, the interface of the router associated with the datagram is identified and the records are accordingly sorted into buckets. The total traffic through the router interface for a period of time is obtained via an SNMP query and the data apportioned to a bucket is scaled based on the results.

Abstract: A system and method for updating a compensation value of a measurement machine provides a host computer to generate an authorization code document according to an ID input by a user and encrypts the authorization code document. A client computer decrypts the authorization code document, and obtains an authorization code, the input ID, and a valid date of the authorization code. If the input ID is the same as an ID of the measurement machine, and the authorization code has not expired, the compensation of the measurement machine can be updated by the client computer using the authorization code.

Abstract: Trouble ticket management automates existing institutional operational processes by engaging various external trouble ticketing systems. These systems feed correlated alarm events, trouble analysis results, and trouble ticket information to a particular institutional network. Correlated alarm feeds, including trouble ticket information, are correlated and sent to institutional trouble ticket management systems. The alarms are processed and remedy tickets are created. The remedy tickets interact with remedy tickets at the institutional trouble ticket management systems. These remedy tickets are bonded with maintenance platform tickets.

Abstract: An electronic bulletin board management apparatus and message notification method for permitting a user receiving a notification to quickly know on which bulletin board a message was posted. A communication system includes a message registry for storing data written from a plurality of communication terminals, in memory areas partitioned for the respective communication terminals, and a web server for delivering the stored data in a browsable state in response to a request from a communication terminal. When a piece of data is stored in the message registry by a writing process from one communication terminal, a mail server transmits a notification mail containing notification information to notify that the writing process was done, and a URL to identify a memory area storing the piece of data, in accordance with an instruction from the web server.

Abstract: A network of microcontrollers for monitoring and diagnosing the environmental conditions of a computer is disclosed. The network of microcontrollers provides a management system by which computer users can accurately gauge the health of their computer. The network of microcontrollers provides users the ability to detect system fan speeds, internal temperatures and voltage levels. The invention is designed to not only be resilient to faults, but also allows for the system maintenance, modification, and growth—without downtime. Additionally, the present invention allows users to replace failed components, and add new functionality, such as new network interfaces, disk interface cards and storage, without impacting existing users. One of the primary roles of the present invention is to manage the environment without outside involvement. This self-management allows the system to continue to operate even though components have failed.
