Abstract: A cache device is disposed on a connection path between a user computer executing a software application and a network. The application exchanges data with a further computer via the network. The cache device includes a cache memory and a processor. The cache device is configured to measure, by the processor, a first latency between the user computer and the further computer. The cache device is further configured to determine an acceptable latency range based on the latency and a requirement of the software application. The cache device is further configured to measure a second latency between the user computer and the further computer. The cache device is further configured to store, in the cache memory, a set of data transmitted from the user computer to the further computer, if the second latency is not within the acceptable latency range.

Abstract: A system and method for MIMO communications is provided. A method includes receiving a data block of P matrices from a transmitter, and determining if operating conditions are met. The method also includes if operating conditions are not met, computing a test position, selecting a codeword based on the test position, and computing a metric. The metric may then be compared with an error radius to determine a validity of the codeword. If the codeword is invalid, another codeword is selected. If the codeword is valid, then the codeword is stored if all matrices have been evaluated, else another matrix is selected for evaluation. If matrices earlier in the data block have untested codewords while all codewords for a matrix being evaluated have been tested, backtracking may be performed. After the codewords for the data block have been found, the stored data may be outputted and processed.

The network controller includes a data processing system including a protocol stack that facilitates a communication session between the mobile device and a network device on the wired network, and a session table identifying session information for each said communication session. The session information identifies the current access point with which the mobile device is currently associated. The protocol stack updates the session table from session information received from the current access point, maintains a first virtual circuit with the network device, maintains a second virtual circuit with the current access point, and bridges communication between the virtual circuits in accordance with the session information.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for allocating radio resources to a mobile terminal for data transmission in a mobile communication system as performed by a mobile terminal and a base station, respectively. Moreover, the invention relates to a mobile terminal and a base station to perform such method, as well as an implementation of the method in software. The invention further provides a mobile communication system in which radio resources are allocated to a mobile terminal for uplink transmission. In order to avoid false activation of a semi-persistent resource allocation the invention defines new conditions under which a mobile terminal activates a semi-persistent resource allocation. Unlike for example in prior-art systems, a mobile terminal only activates a semi-persistent resource allocation, if it can confirm the activation command received from the access network. Preferably, the activation command and its confirmation are resource assignments.

Abstract: Problem: A packet error rate in a receiver needs to be effectively reduced. Solution to Problem: A transmitter 11 inserts error detection codes into information packets on one-to-one basis, at a certain layer at which signal processing is performed earlier than at a physical layer, to obtain first information packets. The transmitter 11 codes the first information packets at the physical layer to obtain second information packets, and transmits the second information packets. At the certain layer, the transmitter 11 generates parity packets by coding the information packets and inserts the error detection codes into the parity packets on one-to-one basis to obtain first parity packets. The transmitter codes the first parity packets at the physical layer to obtain second parity packets. Abstract: Error handling in the intermediation of one-way transacted messages. Rather than receiving an inbound message under a transaction, the intermediary performs a non-destructive exclusive read of the message from the source outside of a transaction. Routing logic is applied against the content of the message to determine a collection of message consumers to which a copy of the inbound message is to be sent. Then, under a transaction, the copy of the message is attempted to be sent to each destination. If a send of the copy fails, the transaction is rolled back, but the failure is recorded such that the same transmission mechanism is not, or is less likely to be, tried again in subsequent attempts. The principles may apply to a single message to be sent under the transaction, or to multiple messages to be sent under a single transaction.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for receiving data units when using one HARQ process of an HARQ protocol. The memory associated to the HARQ process is divided into several sub-areas, which are addressable by an identifier. Then, when data is received, same is stored in one of the sub-areas. By providing more than one sub-area for one HARQ process, it is possible to actually use one HARQ process for two (or more) different received data units, being from the same data flow or from a different data flow. The actual sub-area of the HARQ process for storing data units can be either freely selected at the receiving end or is indicated by an identifier associated with the data. Furthermore, persistent scheduled data is transmitted in units, scheduled at fixed time intervals. Thus, a control signaling field, usually used for indicating new units, can be used to store the identifier.

Abstract: A system and method for processing a distributed transaction for an application are disclosed. Conventionally transactions on critical data (e.g. financial information) are processed using a database architecture whereby a persistent database (typically a redundant disk array) comprises the master record. In cases where large amounts of data need to be accessed but absolute data integrity is less critical, for example search engines, processing is conducted on live in-memory data without all the data being backed up, which can be much faster but data can be lost when processors fail. There have been attempts to use data grid architectures with some backup to persistent stores for more important data but these have either introduced disk access bottlenecks or required manual intervention in the event of failure.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for a base station engaging in transmissions via at least a media access layer with a user entity is disclosed. The base station transmits data to the user entity over a high speed scheduling channel and a high speed packet data scheduling channel. The base station has a plurality of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) entities cooperating with a scheduler for transmitting frames from at least the base station to the user entity for a given HARQ process. Each HARQ entity receives either a not acknowledge signal or an acknowledge signal or detects a discontinuous transmission for a given HARQ process. The base station transmits a next data indicator to the user entity. The user entity has at least one buffer associated with a given HARQ process. The buffer stores and performs incremental combining of received data relating to data from the base station. The buffer is capable of being flushed. A method for a base station is disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method of increasing data throughput in a wireless communications network between a base station (BS) and one or more mobile stations (MS) includes establishing a service flow (SF) and initially enabling a hybrid automated repeat request (HARQ) protocol; determining, at a particular time, the measure of quality of the communications channel; comparing the determined measure of quality with a predetermined channel quality threshold; and selectively disabling the HARQ protocol based upon a first comparison result while continuing the SF between the BS and MS. In other aspects, after selectively disabling the HARQ protocol, the method further includes determining that the time-varying measure of quality of the communications channel has deteriorated below the predetermined channel quality threshold; and selectively re-enabling the HARQ protocol in the established SF.
