The electronic media item may also comprise links, where each link comprises a source position and a target position. The NCX generation module generates an NCX file for the electronic media item based on the input text and whether the links within the electronic media item satisfy one or more rules.

Abstract: An apparatus for displaying hyperlinks using keywords and a method thereof are disclosed. The apparatus for display the hyperlinks using the keywords includes: a hyperlink list generating unit configured to collect hyperlinks included in a web document, select a target hyperlink among the hyperlinks, and generate a hyperlink list including the selected target hyperlink; a keyword list generating unit configured to select keywords corresponding the respective hyperlinks included in the hyperlink list and generate a keyword list including the keywords; and a control widget displaying unit configured to display the keywords following the hyperlink according to an input of a user in a control widget.

Abstract: A computer implemented method for displaying a plurality of web pages within a single web browsing display area includes determining a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for each of the plurality of web pages to be displayed. Each of the URLs may be determined from user inputs or predefined settings. The method may also include allocating a display region within the web browsing display area to define an allocated display region and displaying the one of the plurality of web pages within the allocated display region.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a search query is received. Information identifying a bookmark representing the search query is automatically stored in association with a set of bookmarks. Search results corresponding to the search query are automatically obtained and provided, where the search results identify one or more documents. When one of the documents is selected, a link to the selected one of the documents is automatically stored in association with the bookmark.

User selection is received via a computer user interface of a portion of content within a page rendered in a display device. A determination is made of a computer address of the selected content in response to receiving the user selection. The generated graphical element is added to a user page. The graphical element in the user page is associated with the determined computer address. User selection is received via the computer user interface of the graphical element within the user page. Content at the computer address associated with the selected graphical element is rendered in the within the user page display device.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer-readable storage medium for determining a crawling schedule. In an aspect, a method includes obtaining crawl history data for a Web site having Web pages, determining a status of the Web pages, determining a total quantity of Web pages that have a status of deleted, calculating a probability that another Web page of the Web site will be removed based on the total quantity, and storing data associating the calculated probability with the Web site. The method can further include determining, for a plurality of sets of the previous time periods, a respective crawl penalty as a combination of a penalty for crawling the Web site and a penalty for showing a deleted Web page based on the calculated probability, and determining a re-crawl schedule based on the crawl penalties.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention may provide a message handling system for displaying messages in a structured way. The message handling system may store template messages in a table of a database and generate messages using the template messages. The message handling system may further assess a display area for displaying the generated messages and determine whether all of the generated messages can be viewed on the display area without scrolling. If not, the message handling system may determine whether there are more than one type of generated messages. If there are more than one type of generated messages, the message handling system may group the messages based on message types; and display a list of messages in a plurality of message groups. Each message group may be displayed with a representative message and a link for other similar message in the message group.

A system and method for data retention based on usage information, in a stream-processing system, includes managing retention of SDOs by deleting SDOs that are determined to be of null usage; and enhancing retention characteristics of SDOs that are deemed to have usage.

Abstract: The invention relates to multimedia seek sequence using a synchronization index and a mobile computing device. A mobile computing device displays text from a synchronization index. The synchronization index comprises respective times within multimedia corresponding to a word or range of words. A user may perform a gesture performed on a portion of screen of the mobile computing device corresponding to a word, or a range of words, from the synchronization index. The mobile computing device performs a timecode lookup, using the synchronization index, and in response to the gesture performed to select a word or range of words, the timecode lookup functions to associate a time within multimedia to the selected word or range of words. Multimedia is then delivered beginning at that time, or the user is provided instructions for the delivery of multimedia, to a receiving device. The multimedia delivered corresponds to the word or range of words selected by the gesture of the user.

Abstract: The subject matter disclosed herein relates to a process for receiving, evaluating and selecting of content modules such as content summary boxes and landing pages for display on network-accessible search engine results page. In one particular example, potential content providers may be provided with incentives and guidelines for the preparation of content summary boxes and landing pages over an electronic communications network, and the resulting submissions can be ranked and published in conjunction with the display of a search engine results page over the network.

Abstract: The invention provides two enhancements for the use of favorites during a Web browsing session. A first enhancement identifies when a user is adding a favorite to his favorites list and auto-suggests a category under which the favorite could be stored. A second enhancement allows a user to review his favorites list and see a summary of feed content (RSS or other standard) on each feed enabled page on his favorites list, without requiring the user to link to the page in question.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer-readable storage mediums encoded with computer programs executed by one or more processors for transitioning between remotely cached and live versions of a webpage are disclosed. A primary webpage including a link to a secondary webpage is received. A cached version of the secondary webpage is requested prior to receiving a selection of the link. The cached version of the secondary webpage is provided responsive to the selection of the link. A live version of the secondary webpage is requested in parallel with the providing of the cached version. The cached version of the secondary webpage is transitioned to the live version. Upon a completion of the transitioning, the live version of the secondary webpage is provided.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing bookmark information of a media server through a network based on the UPnP AV standard is disclosed. Abstract: A social networking system analyzes a user's interactions with objects linked to bookmarks associated with the user to generate a score for each bookmark. The score represents or is based on the probability that the user will access the bookmark or the linked object. For example, the score is a predicted click-through rate for the bookmark. Based on the scores, a subset of the bookmarks is selected for presentation to the user. Additionally, the scores may be used to order the selected subset of the bookmarks. Hence, the bookmarks that the user is most likely to access are presented while the bookmarks the user is less likely to access may be hidden.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for presenting Uniform Resource Locator (URL) search results in response to a user query. The method includes receiving inputs from a plurality of users, each input from a respective user representing a path traversal of web pages identified by that user as having a relevance as determined by that user from a list of search result URLs generated by a search engine in response to a query. The system generates, from the received user inputs, a traversal result comprising a super directed graph, or a sub-directed graph constructed from the super directed graph, of web page nodes representing the URLs interconnected by edges, the super directed graph configured to include those URLs based on a popularity measure of the pages traversed; and the traversal result is displayed to include the URLs for user selection, in response to a subsequent user query.

Abstract: An on-demand hyperlink computer search tool implements a method of providing hyperlinked search results that overlay a computer document. The method includes selecting an object in a computer document, submitting the object to a search engine, receiving results, categorizing the results as clusters and displaying the clusters. The clusters are displayed in layers on the same page as the computer document and over the object. Furthermore, an “additional object” may be selected from the clusters. If the selected “additional object” hyperlinks to a specific website, the website is retrieved. If not, the method repeats the process iteratively until “another additional object” that is selected hyperlinks to a specific website.

Abstract: The invention provides two enhancements for the use of favorites during a Web browsing session. Abstract: A method and system for predicting a next navigation event are described. Aspects of the disclosure minimize the delay between a navigation event and a network response by predicting the next navigation event. The system and method may then prerender content associated with the next navigation event. For example, the method and system may predict a likely next uniform resource locator during web browsing to preemptively request content from the network before the user selects the corresponding link on a web page. The methods describe a variety of manners of predicting the next navigation event, including examining individual and aggregate historical data, text entry prediction, and cursor input monitoring.

Abstract: A hyperlinking process identifies a uniform resource locator within content (e.g., within a web page, document, etc.). The hyperlinking process further identifies a plurality of subparts of the uniform resource locator. In this manner, each subpart represents a distinct location separately referenceable from a location referenced by the entire uniform resource locator. Additionally, the hyperlinking process receives a selection of a subpart of the uniform resource locator that identifies a selected subpart. In response to the selection of the subpart, the hyperlinking process references the distinct location associated with the selected subpart.

Abstract: A system includes a ranking component that ranks nodes, such as web sites, to obtain ranking values that define a quality judgment of the nodes. The ranking values are based on links between the nodes and, among other things, deemphasize links between affiliated nodes. Additionally, the amount of rank that any particular node can contribute to another node may be capped at a threshold level, thus tending to prevent some nodes from unduly influencing the ranking values.

Abstract: An electronic device and method for processing a bookmark are provided. The electronic device includes a receiving unit that receives at least a portion of a bookmark of specific content generated in a first electronic device and a control unit that monitors whether a multimedia player is executed in the electronic device, displays an object including bookmark description information based on the portion of the bookmark if the multimedia player is executed, requests a resume operation to at least a second electronic device storing specific content or a third electronic device storing the bookmark if an input for the resume operation is received via the displayed object, and receives the specific content from the second electronic device. Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for reconciling a broken bookmark in a web browser application executing on the data processing system. A selection of a bookmark from a bookmark listing of the web browser application is received. The selected bookmark is determined to be broken in response to an original reference to content associated with the selected bookmark not resulting in the content being retrievable. The mechanisms, in response to the determination that the selected bookmark is broken, performs a search of a local history data structure of the web browser application for a replacement reference to content to replace the original reference to content associated with the selected bookmark. The selected bookmark is updated based on the replacement reference to content.

Abstract: A system for and method of enhancing web page delivery and visitor tracking. The invention provides the ability to control redirection of Web traffic of humans. It can identify visitors to a Web page, track their movements, log critical information, and analyze the Web traffic in order to judge the success in driving quality traffic to some known goal on a Web site, such as a sale. The system tracks visitors via use of redirection with an image tag. The invention can also use unique image marker references to prevent browsers from accessing cached images.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for navigating amongst search results. In one embodiment, the method receives a item to search within a document and stores a start location representing the position within the document at the time the item is received. The method searches the document for instances of the item and stores, as an index, at least one item location within the document for each instance of the item. A search result representing a match between the item and content in the document is displayed and, upon selecting to return to the start location at any time while displaying the search result, returning to the start location to display at least a portion of the document at the start location.

Abstract: A table of contents may be automatically created for a web page. This table of contents may then be used by the visually impaired to navigate the web page via the table of contents. A user may selectively navigate the web page or the table of contents. The user can access items on the web page by selecting an item in the table of contents. Thus in some embodiments, instead of selectively opening portions of the web page and incurring the time penalty associated therewith, the user can simply move through entries in the table of contents until the user finds the information that is actually desired.

Abstract: A method described herein includes receiving data that identifies a web page, wherein the data that identifies the web page is desirably displayed to a first individual and resolving the web page to generate a markup language document, wherein the markup language document comprises unstructured data. The method also includes extracting portions of the markup language document and generating a structured data object, wherein the structured data object includes the portions of the markup language document. The method further includes causing a summary of the web page to be displayed to the first individual, wherein the summary of the web page is based at least in part upon the structured data object.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for navigating an electronic document using a touch-sensitive display screen with gestures that are reminiscent of physically handling the pages of a conventional, bound document. A user may temporarily bookmark one or more selected pages by touching the touchscreen with a finger when the pages are displayed, to mimic using a finger to hold a selected page of a conventional, bound document. Predefined gestures may be specified with different functions, such as returning to a bookmarked page or removing a bookmark.

Abstract: A system for displaying the listings of files and/or folders in one of a plurality of different views (e.g., gallery view or list view). In particular embodiments, the system determines which of the views to display in the listings in based on: (1) the types of files to be displayed; (2) a specified preference of a content sharer; and/or (3) a specified preference of a content recipient. Various embodiments are particularly useful for displaying lists of files that a content sharer shares with a content recipient via a URL within the context of a synched file sharing system.

Abstract: A first portion of content relating to a first markup document may be displayed to a user of the client system. Information relating to the first portion of content is stored at a server system. An action to display a current version of the first markup document on the client system is received. A current version of content for the first markup document is retrieved from the host server. The stored information relating to the first portion of content may be used to identify a third portion of content associated with the first markup document which has not previously been displayed to the user. The display of markup document content associated with the first markup document may then be modified in a manner which facilitates the user in identifying the third portion of content.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for attribute-value extraction from structured documents. In one aspect, a method includes obtaining an initial attribute whitelist, extracting candidate attributes from a first collection of documents, and grouping the candidate attributes. The method further includes calculating a score for each unique attribute in the candidate attributes, generating an expanded attribute whitelist including the initial attributes and each unique attribute having a score that satisfies a threshold, and using the expanded attribute whitelist to identify valid attribute-value pairs. In another aspect, a method includes extracting candidate attribute-value pairs from a collection of documents and identifying one or more features for each candidate attribute-value pair. The method further includes filtering out non valid attribute-value pairs.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, apparatus, and systems implementing techniques for displaying labels included in a body of content are presented. Part of a portion of a body of content is displayed in a display area. The body of content includes a label for the portion, and the label has a normal position adjacent to and not overlapping the portion in the body of content. The label is displayed in the display area in the normal position if doing so places the label fully within the display area. The label is displayed at a separate location only if displaying the label in the normal position does not place the label fully within the display area and only while any non-trivial part of the portion is displayed in the display area.

Abstract: An enhanced telephony (ET) computer user interface that seamlessly integrates features of a personal computer (PC) and a telephone into a coherent user interface. The user is provided with a rich variety of functionality that leverages the fact that the PC has considerably more processing power and greater access to variety of data than the ordinary telephone. This processing power and data access is used to the user's advantage as the telephone's capabilities and functionality are greatly expanded. In general, the ET user interface includes a plurality of environments for the user to choose. These environments include a My Contacts environment, a communication preferences environment, and a Call History environment. Each of these environments contains certain available processes and features for controlling and managing telephones.
