Abstract: A method and a system for editing documents online, that in some implementations, simultaneously edits a webpage document, in a webpage file format, and an image document, in an image file format. The webpage document and the image document may have substantially similar visual content. In some implementations, an editing interface is displayed to a client device. The editing interface may have a first portion displaying one or more webpage editing forms for editing the webpage document and a second portion displaying the webpage document or image document being edited. The editing interface accepts editing data from the client device. Both the webpage document and an image document may be updated based on accepted editing data. The image document is updated in part by updating form data retrieved from a database. In some implementations, the updated webpage document is displayed on a webpage and access to the image document is provided from the webpage.

Abstract: A method and printing device print a feedback form in response to activation of a customer feedback option of the printing device. The printing device and the feedback form instruct the user to supply feedback comments on the feedback form and cause the feedback form to be scanned using the printing device. The method and printing device identifying the feedback form in response to the scanning of the feedback form and capture the feedback form as a feedback form image. The method and printing device transmit the feedback form image from the printing device to a feedback collection entity.

Abstract: An electronic inspection report system includes a central report generator and a data collection device. The central report generator is adapted to produce multiple types of inspection report template. The central report generator is adapted to select a type of inspection report template to provide to a data collection device based upon various criteria. The central report generator is adapted to receive electronic information from various databases and format the information such that the information can be used in inspection reports. While inspecting an item, an inspector uses a data collection device to access an inspection report template and fill in fields of the inspection report template. The data collection device can be configured to check the consistency of information carried in fields of the inspection report and signal the inspector when some of the information is inconsistent. The central report generator can include a repository of completed inspection reports.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method of generating a set of tax schedule information comprising: (a) providing an Excel interface, the Excel interface being associated with a set of commands and functions; (b) accessing a separate database, the separate database storing a set of data, the set of data having been defined using the set of commands and functions; (c) manipulating the set of data according to the set of commands and functions to generate the set of tax schedule information; and (d) storing the set of tax schedule information in a separate database. This embodiment may further include one or more of the following: using at least one entry from the set of tax schedule information to populate a tax schedule; wherein the separate database is an XML database; wherein the set of tax schedule information is based, at least in part, on a set of tags associated with the XML database.

The resubmitted query format includes the signature phrase.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein for customizing a form (a.k.a. a dialog) in a model-based system. For instance, the form may be customized without the need to modify the form in persistent memory, such as read-only memory (ROM), a hard disk, a magnetic disk, an optical disk, etc. A representation of a customization (e.g., an extensible markup language file, a management pack, etc.) regarding the form is captured in memory, such as a random access memory (RAM), and stored in a file or a database. For instance, the representation of the customization may be stored separately from the form. The representation of the customization is retrieved from the file or the database and applied to a rendering of the form.

Abstract: Tools for updating business objects. The tools include an update utility that can allow a user to identify a selection tool to select a population to be updated. Further, the update utility can provide an interface to allow any of a number of available update tools to be used to update the selected data population. In some cases, the update utility adheres to a framework that employs metadata to identify available update tools, their capabilities, and/or their requirements. This framework can allow the utility to be configured to support new update tools without requiring extensive modification of the underlying framework or its implementing software.

Abstract: A computer-based method is used for completing missing data needed in a transaction-tax-related application, where the method uses completing rules that define, depending on which missing data needs to be completed, what further data might be considered for deriving the missing data. A completing rule associated with the missing data is evaluated, and an auto-completion certainty parameter is determined as a result of the completing rule evaluation. Completed data is derived according to the certainty parameter.

Abstract: A method, medium and implementing processing system are provided for book marking a combination of frame URLs within a frameset and allowing the sharing on multiple PCs the saved form data that may have been filled in. The system uses an image as a hotspot, containing a complex target destination in the form of an XML structure with multiple URLs for multiple frames as well as captured form data. This system combines file types such as XML and JPG, e.g. as in sample file name ‘MyCapturedFramesAndFormData.XML.JPG’ or ‘MyCapturedFramesAndFormData.XML.GIF’. This combination provides a surprising effect compared to the prior systems, namely, launching the image in an enhanced web browser or in a web browser containing a new plug-in, displays the frame just as it was when saved, including frame set and data input to displayed forms.

Abstract: The present invention includes aspects of a designer program or tool for customizing a clinical trial program to a particular protocol of a particular clinical trial. The designer program includes visual cues or mechanisms for organizing trial components within the designer program in a straightforward manner such that technically low skilled designers can implement often complex trial protocols. In an embodiment, the designer program includes validation scripts that test functions, derivations, queries and the like. Moreover, use of the designer program can include development of trial libraries that can make customizations reusable, scalable, and highly efficient.

Abstract: The current invention is a system, method and program product that defines a platform composed of two basic software modules that capture, store, and retrieve data in any business domain regardless of the nature of the business itself or its transactional rules. The platform achieves its objective by concentrating on data values themselves and their own meta data rather than on any other information—such as business rules—that is related to these data values. The first module is a Template Manager that creates data item group templates and their component data items and the second module is a Template Manager Client.

Abstract: The present invention provides a configurable field definition document as well as a method, system and program product for configuring a field definition document. Specifically, under the present invention, fields of the field definition document are configured to store values of data elements used by a computer application. The computer application is then mapped to the fields. As needed, values of data elements for the computer application are accessed from the field definition document based on the mapping and at least one selection criterion. The at least one selection criterion can include, for example, a customer identity, a location, a language, a project type, etc.

Abstract: In a method for computer-aided transfer of data from a document application into a data application having a set of data fields, a document is displayed in the document application opened on a computer with a display device, and wherein from the document data are to be transferred into the data application also opened on the computer. A name of a data field into which data are to be transferred is displayed on the display device. Via identification of a corresponding data value in the document on the display device, a character string representing the data value is automatically read out from the document and entered into the data field corresponding to the data field name in the data application via actuation of a predetermined button.

Abstract: A system for generating customized badges. The system includes a computer, a printer coupled to the computer, a display coupled to the computer, and a computer readable medium. The computer readable medium includes instructions for opening a badge profile, providing a data entry screen based on the profile, receiving data in the data entry screen, and printing customized badges on the printer based on the received data. The badge profile defines a size, type, and location of data to be printed on the customized badges.

The method includes generating, using a computer processor, binary questions according to a first rule, receiving answers to the binary questions from the user, adjusting, using the computer processor, a binary question based on answers according to a second rule during the user interview, and identifying, using the computer processor, forms from a forms library based on the answers according to a third rule. The method also includes presenting based on the answers, data entry fields of forms to the user in a unified format, where related data entry fields are grouped together to form data entry menus in the unified format, receiving data from the user for the data entry fields, populating a portion of the forms to generate populated forms based on the data, and storing the populated forms in a repository on behalf of the user.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that improves data entry for a form with one or more fields. During operation, the system displays both a printed representation of the form as well as an enhanced representation of the form that displays an enhanced view of the form's fields. When the system detects a user action related to a field displayed in one of the representations, the system adjusts the display of the field in the other representation (or in both representations) to indicate that the two fields are related. By indicating this relationship, the system facilitates entering and/or updating data for the form.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods for pre-loading a web page in a mobile web browser are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a partial or complete query in a mobile web browser from a mobile device prior to the partial or complete query being submitted by a user and receiving an identification of a predicted web page responsive to the partial or complete query. The method also includes loading but not rendering the predicted web page prior to the partial or complete query being query being submitted by the user, and displaying the loaded and rendered predicted web page in the mobile web browser after the completed query is submitted by the user when the predicted web page is determined to be responsive to the submitted query. Systems, graphical user interfaces, and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: The invention provides methods and apparatus for securing personalized or sensitive information appearing in digital images. Digital images containing information to be secured is processed and divided into a plurality of image cells. At least one image cell from the plurality of image cells is selected and redacted or altered to render the information to be secured with the selected image cells indecipherable. The invention also provides methods and apparatus for redacting information to be secured in a high throughput automated process.

Abstract: A system and process for managing content organized in a tag-delimited template using metadata are described. A stored template written in a tag-delimited language is retrieved. The retrieved template is converted into an object representation of a metadata entry form. A user interface exported by the object representation is initialized. A data entry form is built including individual data entry elements responsive to user selections on the user interface of the metadata form. Each data entry element includes a set of information attributes describing the data entry element. The data entry elements of the data entry form are defined as one or more classes within the retrieved template. The data entry form is rendered by enumerating each of the one or more classes of the stored template and generating each data entry element of the one or more enumerated classes as described by the set of information attributes.

Abstract: A method for semi-automation of management of work packages associated with construction projects is disclosed. Sets of printed forms are generated by the system based on the contents of work packages selected by the user. Information related to the work package is entered into data fields in the printed forms in the field, and uploaded to a database by scanning the printed forms. The database may be utilized to generate reports, such as those related to regulatory issues or project status.

Furthermore, developers are enabled to reuse and build upon validation logic by subsequent validation logic inheriting validation logic from a parent rule.

Abstract: A system and method for document management for processing forms on a personal computer while isolated from a network. The forms may be Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) forms stored on a personal computer isolated from a network. The forms have data fields for data submission. Data is input into a selected form and a submit command is executed to submit the entered data. Execution of the submit command stores the data to a file on the personal computer. Once the personal computer is connected to the network, the stored data is sent to a central computer connected to the network.

Abstract: Systems and methods automatically generate a model of a form or other document and identify the form or other document. In one aspect, a system and method normalize an image of a document and identify the relative positions of vertical and horizontal lines in the normalized image. The relative positions of vertical and horizontal lines of the normalized image are the model of the document image. The model may be stored in a record, such as an array. The system and method compare the relative positions of vertical and horizontal lines of the model to the relative positions of vertical and horizontal lines of other models to identify a matching model.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or a method that facilitates completing multiple electronic document applications. An interface component can receive two or more electronic documents, wherein each electronic document includes at least two or more questions with respective fill-in fields to be completed by a user input. A master field component can create a master field list that includes a first subset of questions and a second subset of questions and the first subset of questions is targeted toward a first user to answer and the second subset of questions are targeted toward second user to answer. A user segregation manager component can ensure an independent and secure log in to the master field list for each user to provide information. A form aggregation component can leverage the master field list to populate or update the electronic document.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus which performs variable printing in accordance with print data containing a fixed object and a variable object determines whether the fixed object overlaps another fixed object. When the image processing apparatus determines that the fixed object overlaps the other fixed object, the image processing apparatus generates data by performing the first image forming processing to combine the fixed object and the other fixed object or the second image forming processing to process the fixed object or the other fixed object. The image processing apparatus stores the generated data. The image processing apparatus extracts the stored data, combines it with the variable object to generate print data, and outputs the print data.

Abstract: Graphical user interfaces that are well suited for displaying search results from multiple search categories are described. In one aspect of the invention, a graphical user interface is provided that includes a window having at least two panes that are arranged to display search results from searches in different search categories. Each pane can be presented in an open state suitable for displaying information and a closed state. A user may adjust the relative sizes of the panes and the user may switch the panes between the open and closed states.

Abstract: A hierarchical grid (H-Grid) is used to select a customer name after preliminary navigation has been performed. The preliminary navigation serves to identify an action, category or type of page to process or display data associated with the selected customer name. The H-Grid can be used in various ways as a replacement for, enhancement or addition to, key or query-based searching to retrieve a page or perform an action. In a particular example, the H-Grid includes customer names that have data available for display according to a form associated with a selected action or category. When the user clicks a customer name in the H-Grid a current form is populated with the customer's data. Subsequent navigation to other pages of data are populated with the currently selected customer name. This approach can replace the requirement of having the user to perform a search or query to identify the customer name or record.

Abstract: A method is provided that includes receiving a request at a server from a client device to configure a form associated with a workflow step. The form is of a form type that supports a set of features. The method also includes identifying a form tool of a plurality of form tools that is compatible with the form type. In addition, the method includes generating form feature discovery instructions via a form integration framework application programming interface (API). The form integration framework API utilizes a common set of instructions adapted to direct the plurality of form tools. Further, the method includes providing a set of user interfaces via the form integration framework to the client device based at least in part on form feature data provided via the form tool. The set of user interfaces is adapted to configure the form to generate a configured form.

A cover sheet including a standard set of identification data characterizing each document is developed and stored. A digital version of each document is created and stored by scanning each contract. Each digital version includes a scanned image and a searchable text file, wherein the text is overlaid with the image. An index of bookmarks identifying sections of the digital version of each document is generated. Selected fields of information are captured from the digital version of the document. The documents are organized and cross-referenced in a database that includes the captured information and additional information related to each document. Designated parties are alerted of critical dates associated with each document. Remote electronic access to the documents is provided over the internet.

The processing unit is further configured to execute the form execution request based on the identification of the container and on the user-supplied information.

The method comprises the steps of generating a suite of documents from the model, each of the documents describing a view of the model; and displaying the documents to a user as a series of forms. The user provides information to the forms to change the documents, and changes to the documents result in both changes to the model and consistent changes across the suite of documents. In the preferred embodiment, the model identifies specific relationships between the elements of the model, and each of the model elements has defined properties.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies are described herein for presenting data driven forms. In accordance with the concepts and technologies disclosed herein, a user device obtains a resource referencing or presenting data driven forms and obtains data displayed or used by the resource. The user device stores the data in a cache accessible by the user device. The user device can render multiple views containing data from the cache. The user device can display one of the views and hide the other views from display. If the user device detects input for viewing other views, the user device can present one of the previously hidden views. The user device also can manage the cache and download additional data, if the cache empties or is not full.
