Abstract: A method and system for applying input mode bias is disclosed. A schema is applied to an input field of an electronic document. The schema is associated with a grammar that defines the set of acceptable strings that may be input into the input field. When text is input into the input field, the schema is determined and the associated grammar is determined. The grammar is then sent to the input method. Based on the grammar, the input method may determine what text the user is trying to enter. The grammar may also be used to apply semantic categories to text input into a document. After the text is entered it is compared to a grammar. If the entered text matches the form of the grammar, then the schema is applied to the text as a semantic category.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for sequential insertion processing of speech recognition results and, more particularly, server-based automated processing of speech recognition results. In addition, the use of formed document templates to facilitate the server-based automated sequential insertion of speech recognition results is disclosed. Abstract: A form management system includes a handheld reading device that receives data from a user who fills out a form attached to the handheld reading device. The handheld reading device stores the data on a removable personal storage device. The handheld reading device uses unique user identifiers to control access to the personal storage device. A user is authenticated before the user input can be received and stored. Data stored in the personal storage device can be uploaded to a management server for remote access by authorized personnel.

Abstract: A system and method for complying with business procedures and tracking, for auditing purposes that the procedures are completed is disclosed. Specifically, the system is useful for tracking compliance with the Tanker Management and Self Assessment (TMSA) guidelines of the OCIMF, which deals with assessment of management and safety procedures for oil tankers. The system and method utilize both shore-based and ship-based computers which are synchronized when the ship-based computers are able to connect to the internet.

A device user enters a form descriptor code comprising a set of alphanumeric characters. A form generator applies stored mappings between the input characters and a set of electronic form components. This identifies required form components. The form generator dynamically generates an electronic form having the identified components, and displays the form on a display screen of the device. The device user completes the form and sends the completed form to a target data processing system. The dynamic generation of a form in response to a simple input code can be used to control the format of user-entered data, such that the data is validly formatted when received at the target.

Some examples of consumer generated media include web logs or “blogs”, mobile phone blogs or “mo-blogs”, forums, electronic discussion messages, Usenet, message boards, BBS emulating services, product review and discussion web sites, online retail sites that support customer comments, social networks, media repositories, and digital libraries. Any web hosted system for the persistent public storage of human commentary is a potential target for this method. The system is comprised of a coordinated software and hardware system designed to perform management, collection, storage, analysis, workflow, visualization, and response tasks upon this media.

Abstract: A unique tool, i.e., “VeriWeb”, is employed to automatically discover and systematically explore Web-site execution paths that can be followed by a user in a Web application. Unlike traditional spiders (or crawlers) that are limited to the exploration of static links, VeriWeb can navigate automatically through dynamic components of Web sites, including form submissions and execution of client-side scripts. Whenever examining a new Web page, the system determines all possible actions a user might perform—be it a link, via a button with a JavaScript handler, or via form submission—and can execute them in a systematic way. In order to systematically test different paths in a Web site, VeriWeb addresses two critical problems: systematic Web site exploration and automatically filling out forms.

A method and a user interface for creating some of these electronic forms are also described.

Abstract: A method and system for interactive and automated assistance with document (e.g., forms) completion for use in complying with requirements or otherwise performing functions for which automated documents are useful, and a user interface for a code authoring tool to support development, customization, and revision of such documents. The user interface for document completion includes search functions to identify documents needing completion, highlighting of fields of documents based on priority for completion of those fields, and a compliance check feature to confirm proper document completion. The code authoring tool allows a user to customize the format of data limitations for fields in documents, define selection choices presented, which are linked to the fields, create help, warning, or error messages, build calculations, define business rules, and generate code and associated documentation, which may be optionally exported.

Abstract: Methods for efficiently publishing electronic versions of traditionally paper-based government forms and utilizing the electronic forms for web-based transactional services are disclosed. Standard paper-based government forms are automatically converted to XML format, including data fields for entry of information by customers. Multiple electronic forms are accessible to the customer at a single access point, such as a web site. At the web site, the customer selects a form for filing with any of a plurality of government agencies. When presented to the customer, the selected form is presented with some of its data fields being pre-populated according to information retrieved from a database and specific to that customer. The customer completes the form, and a back-end system integrated with the web site handles the completed form, determines the appropriate government agency for filing the form, and transmits it as a transaction to the determined government agency.

The form preference may be predefined by a user and stored within a form preference database which contains data selections and/or insertions for specific form objects for web forms. The form preference may also specify conditions for triggering events or actions of a web browser. The predictive logic monitors user insertions of a web form and prompts a user to define additional form preferences.

Abstract: The present invention provides a unique system and method that can employ machine learning techniques to automatically fill one or more fields across a diverse array of web forms. In particular, one or more instrumented tools can collect input or entries of form fields. Machine learning can be used to learn what data corresponds to which fields or types of fields. The input can be sent to a central repository where other databases can be aggregated as well. This input can be provided to a machine learning system to learn how to predict the desired outputs. Alternatively or in addition, learning can be performed in part by observing entries and then adapting the autofill component accordingly.
