Abstract: The invention features a method, system, and computer program product. User input defining a form that has one or more fields is received. User input defining a set of entries associated with the form is also received, the set of entries identifying available connections to data repositories and fields of the form that are associated with the connections. Each data repository is connected with the fields associated with the data repository using one or more declarative statements that enable one-to-many mappings from fields in the form to data repositories as defined by the set of entries.

Abstract: Systems and methods for template-based multimedia authoring and sharing are described. In one aspect, media content is selectively applied to a content description template to author media in a content description. The content description template provides a temporal structure for the applied media content. A content representation template is selected and combined with the temporally structured media in the content description to specify rendering criteria and generate a content description and representation for one or more of rendering, sharing, and exporting the temporally structured authored media.

Abstract: Described is a method to communicate to a third party information for part of an electronic form that cannot be competed and then to incorporate returned information into the electronic form. In various embodiments, while filling in an electronic form, a requestor requests assistance in the form of information from a third party such as a supervisor. The requestor specifies a range of the part requiring assistance, and copies the partial form into a field of a message. An agent acquires information concerning the partial form based on the copy operation. The message including the information on the partial form is sent to the third party. The third party inputs information into an input field concerning the input request and returns the partial form in a message. The agent incorporates the information included in the returned message into the original electronic form.

Abstract: A method for user interaction with a web page includes displaying a web page in a web browser, displaying a user-selectable object outside the web browser on a user interface, receiving a user selection of the user-selectable object and a dragging of the user-selectable object onto the web browser, and causing a command to be performed with the web browser in response to the user selection.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for sending completions to a client for aiding a user in completing electronic forms. The invention may identify a plurality of completions corresponding to a user; form a plurality of selected completions from the plurality of completions based, at least in part, on a use pattern of the user; and transmit the plurality of selected completions to a client associated with the user.

Abstract: A form management system is provided that bundles individual electronic form instances into a single bundled form. Form field names in the electronic form instances and scripts are renamed at the time the form instances are merged into a bundle. In this manner, common names can be assigned to individual form fields in individual forms and then only the form field names in electronic forms selected for the bundle are renamed. Furthermore, the same renaming scheme is also executed in the scripts associated with the individual form documents and fields. As such, the form field names in the scripts of bundled documents are altered to reference the renamed form fields in the corresponding component forms.

Abstract: There is provided a method to image a dual-sided thermal media including a plurality of contiguous, alternating first and second thermally imageable panels distinguished by one or more associated sense marks, each of the imageable panels including a first and second imageable sides. The method includes determining a starting panel of the alternating first and second thermally imageable panels of the thermal media on which to start imaging one or more received pages of data, determining a starting side of the first and second imageable sides of the starting panel according to number of the one or more received pages of data, advancing the thermal media to the starting panel using at least one of the of the one or more associated sense marks, and imaging the thermal media with the one or more received pages of data starting at the determined starting side of the advanced to determined panel.

Abstract: An approach is provided for using scripts to utilize a service. A request specifying one or more tasks of the service with respect to a target object is received. One or more scripts are determined for performing the one or more tasks. It is determined to initiate the one or more scripts to use, at least in part, information associated with the target object to perform the one or more tasks.

Abstract: A system and method for managing form-generated data related to a patient encounter involves translating location information related to a user writing on a form into a contextualized data element that includes contextual information. The contextual information helps to explain and/or give meaning to the user writing. Contextual information may include a descriptive name, an identification of data type, healthcare classification information, taxonomic information, an indication of the patient, an indication of the person that wrote on the form, and/or an indication of the date and time at which the writing occurred. The contextual information is then used by an Electronic Medical Record (EMR)/Electronic Health Record (EHR) application to perform a function such as patient/insurance billing, case management, or order fulfillment.

Abstract: An evolutionary document system comprises: a multi-function printer, a recognition module, an evolutionary document processing module, a list of document identifiers and corresponding actions, and an evolutionary document creation module. The MFP includes software and control routines for processing and creating evolutionary documents. The recognition module is operable on the MFP and allows the MFP to determine an evolutionary document identification number from an image scanned by the MFP. The evolutionary document processing module is capable of matching an evolutionary document identification number to one or more steps or action stored in the list of document identifiers and corresponding actions. Once the actions have been identified, the evolutionary document processing module executes the actions. The present invention also includes an evolutionary document creation module for creating an evolutionary document including an identification code.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide a validation framework to validate whether data entered in a web application is valid. The framework includes a validation resource that contains a validation rule for the web application. The framework also includes a validation group web control that can generate client validation script that is useable by a client to validate whether the entered data is valid. In at least some embodiments, an event table that specifies the validation rules is used to present an error message when the entered data is not valid.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for processing paper forms includes accepting a filled-in paper form conforming to a template at a computer system having a local memory, wherein the template is not stored in the local memory. Identification information is extracted from the filled-in paper form using the computer system. The identification information indicates a network address of a remote storage location external to the computer system, in which the template is stored. The template is retrieved responsively to the identification information by communication with the remote storage location via a wide area network (WAN). The filled-in paper form is processed responsively to the retrieved template.

Abstract: The invention relates to the authentication of users for a multi-function peripheral (MFP) device using handwritten signatures. Systems and methods are disclosed which relate to a MFP that conditions access to MFP operations based on an authenticating process that compares a prospective user's signature to previously saved signatures. The signatures are communicated to the MFP using the MFP's native scanning function.

Abstract: A script-based scenario designer application for automating the data transfer from one web interface to another. The script-based scenario designer receives sender and receiver web interface addresses from a user, displays the sender web interface to the user; monitors user interactions with the sender web interface, such as the entering of credentials; and receives from the user a data field mapping comprising a correlation of at least one sender web interface data field to at least one receiver web interface data field. The script-based scenario designer stores the sender web interface data field mapping and the user interactions as a scenario and allows the user to validate the scenario by retrieving a data field from the sender web interface, formatting the retrieved data field in accordance with instructions optionally stored in the scenario, and transmitting the formatted data field to the receiver web interface in accordance with the scenario.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or a method that facilitates completing multiple electronic document applications. An interface component can receive two or more electronic documents, wherein each electronic document includes at least two or more questions with respective fill-in fields to be completed by a user input. A master field component can create a master field list that includes a first subset of questions and a second subset of questions and the first subset of questions is targeted toward a first user to answer and the second subset of questions are targeted toward second user to answer. A user segregation manager component can ensure an independent and secure log in to the master field list for each user to provide information. A form aggregation component can leverage the master field list to populate or update the electronic document.

Abstract: In accordance with embodiments, there are provided mechanisms and methods for providing simplified form filling in an on-demand service in a database system. These mechanisms and methods can enable embodiments to provide users with an efficient form wizard for filling electronic forms. The ability of embodiments to provide a form wizard can enable users to efficiently accomplish the rapid filling of multiple forms without the need to scroll through the electronic forms and entering the same information repeatedly.

Abstract: A method and a device transport a postal object to an incompletely specified destination address. The object has at least one information item relating to a destination address to which the object is to be transported. A set of address components is predetermined. An address database is used which in each case contains a computer-available record per destination address for a set of possible destination addresses. Each record contains in each case one entry for each predetermined address component. At least one destination address information item on the object is detected. A screen form is used which contains in each case one input field for each address component. The detected destination address information is compared with the records of the address database. When exactly one record is consistent with all detected destination address information items, a transportation of the object to the destination address of the record is triggered.

Abstract: A printer is provided which is capable of shortening time required to complete overlay printing. The printer includes a job controlling section to divide received data into a printer language-dependent portion being dependent on a printer language and print job information being not dependent on a printer language, a form controlling section to produce form bit-mapped data based on form information, and a bit-mapped controlling section to produce bit-mapped data representing non-form based on a result from analysis of a printer language-dependent portion and to perform overlay printing on a form and a non-form by overlaying bit-mapped data on form bit-mapped data. Since control on overlay printing is performed in accordance with form information in printing job information, the printer can be free from constraint of a printer language.

For example, a medical record form in a clinical or hospital environment is provided based on user input and is processed upon the user's filling in of the form. The system guides the user and accepts the user's inputs and provides a suitable medical record form from a plurality of form types. The selected form is printed, and used by the medical staff in the examination of the patient. The filled form is then returned to a processing station for scanning, where information in the filled form may be extracted and where the filled form may be added to a patient medical record or archive, or shared with another person or organization.

Abstract: A system that may be used to generate documents, where the system is accessible from and integratable with remote systems is provided. A document generation system that may be provided as a service, in the sense that the system may be accessed via, e.g., the Internet, from remote systems such as credit aggregators. The system takes in information regarding the requirements (e.g., type of transaction, number of parties, amount of loan, price, governing law, etc.) of the document needed (e.g., a loan application, construction contract, etc.) and produces an appropriate form based on the input information. It should be noted that access to the document generation system is effectuated by an Internet/network connection via, e.g., a partner provider system such as a DMS, a traditional credit aggregator, a credit aggregator portal, etc. Electronic signature and secure archiving may be provided for generated documents.

The project management application calculates the attribute values to the extent allowed by the calculation model's recognition of the attribute values.

Abstract: Instructions are received to open an eXtensible Markup Language (XML) document. The XML document is searched to locate a processing instruction (PI) containing an entity. The entity, by example, can be a href attribute, a URL, a name, or a character string identifying an application that created an HTML electronic form associated with the XML document. A solution is discovered using the entity. The XML document is opened with the solution. The solution includes an XSLT presentation application and an XML schema. The XML document can be inferred from the XML schema and portions of the XML document are logically coupled with fragments of the XML schema. The XSLT presentation application is executing to transform the coupled portions of the XML document into the HTML electronic form containing data-entry fields associated with the coupled portions. Data entered through the data-entry fields can be validated using the solution.

The first data and the second data is mapped to first and second columns, respectively, of a first record in a database. The first and second columns of the first record is then mapped to respective fields of an instance of a first electronic form. Abstract: Interactions between customers and representatives of a service provider are documented by providing multiple electronic forms for completion. Information that is requested for both forms is carried over from one form to the next rather than requiring the representative to manually enter the same information multiple times. For instance, a call back number of the customer may be entered on one electronic form being used to edit information for a customer and that call back number is automatically carried over to another form being used to document a commitment to handle a request from the customer. The representative is relieved of double-entry, and mistakes that might arise from double-entry are reduced or eliminated. The electronic forms may be submitted to a tracker database that allows for further disposition of the request by the customer.

Templates may be provided manually or automatically, and may or may not be associated with an application text box. A template generally contains pre-populated segments and open segments for receiving handwriting.

Abstract: A method for facilitating remote storage of preflight documentation for a helicopter air ambulance includes filling out a preflight documentation form for a helicopter air ambulance with a specially configured pen, the preflight documentation form including tiny dots printed thereon, and the specially configured pen being configured to electronically record information associated with marks made on the preflight documentation form; electronically communicating the information associated with marks made on the preflight documentation form, together with an identification of the specially configured pen, to a remote server; and generating, at the remote server, an electronic copy of the preflight documentation form including markings or text representative of the marks made on the preflight documentation form. The steps of filling out a preflight documentation form and electronically communicating information occur prior to takeoff of the helicopter air ambulance.

Abstract: Systems and methods for voice interaction with non-voice enabled web pages and browsers are provided. A communication unit that does not provide for voice enabled web browsing can be provided with a hardware and/or software plug-in. The plug-in can receive non-voice enabled web pages, receive voice from a user of the communication unit and provide the voice to a speech recognition server. The plug-in receives corresponding text from the speech recognition server and provides the text to a non-voice enabled web browser to fill-in form fields with the corresponding text.

Abstract: The present invention provides for variable data printing by a print driver. Static print data is received, wherein the static print data is in a page description language. Variable print data is also received, wherein the variable print data comprises one or more sets of variable data. In addition, mapping rule data is received, wherein the mapping rule data comprises rules for mapping the one or more sets of variable data into the static print data. One or more modified versions of the static print data are generated, by applying the rules for mapping the one or more sets of variable data into the static print data. The one or more modified versions of the static print data are output for printing. As such, virtually any application can have VDP functionality, and a less complex VDP solution can be realized.

Abstract: A task framework and a semantic reasoning engine are combined to provide a scalable mechanism for dealing with extremely large numbers of widgets, allowing users to both find a widget and automatically fill-in whatever functionality is available on the widget. Calling applications are employed to obtain task information from each widget. The calling application also receives user queries that can be resolved by a widget. A task reasoning process based on an adaptive semantic reasoning engine utilizes the task information to select a widget best suited to respond to a user's query. The task reasoning process can also be employed to determine “best-guess” slot filling of the selected widget. The calling application can then invoke the selected widget and, if available, fill appropriate slots with information to facilitate user interaction with the selected widget. Instances can be client- and/or server-side based.
