Abstract: Methods and systems for providing dynamically linked graphical messages in a process control system are disclosed. A dynamically linked graphical message may include a hyperlink and an electronic sticky note image. At run-time of a display view, the hyperlink may be established between contents of the electronic sticky note image and a process control object, and the electronic sticky note image may be displayed proximate to a representation of the process control object. The electronic sticky note image may automatically be displayed on any display view (displayed on any computing device in communication with the process control system) that includes a representation of the process control object or corresponding sub-class object. The contents of the electronic sticky note image may be stored separately from configurations of the process control object and the display view. User interfaces for administering and displaying properties of dynamically linked graphical messages are also disclosed.

Abstract: Event processing is provided responsive to users' input, to provide a display. Event storage stores event content for a plurality of events. The event content is comprised of an edit event reference identifying a position relative to another event, and change data. The events are entered in an ordering of an entry order of input. Selection means select a plurality of the events as a selected set of events. The events in the selected set can comprise less than all the events between a first event and a last event within the ordering. A presentation processor assembles the events in a defined order, utilizing respective change data for each respective said event responsive to a respective edit event reference for each respective said event, to generate a presentation output of presentation data utilized by a display apparatus to provide a presentation.

Abstract: The system and a computer-implemented method annotate a multimedia object on a web page hosted on a publisher computer system. A web page that includes a multimedia object is rendered in a web browser of a client computer system. One or more layers, including a transparent layer, at least partially located over the multimedia object displayed on the web page are generated wherein the one or more layers are configured to facilitate the creation and display of annotation data for the multimedia object based on user interface events produced by a user of the client computer system. Annotation data for the multimedia object is received from the user. The annotation data is transmitted to an annotation server for storage. A visual indicator indicating that the annotation data is associated with the multimedia object is displayed, wherein the visual indicator is rendered in the one or more layers.

Abstract: Embodiments of systems and methods are disclosed providing for annotation of digital documents, such as html and xml documents. In various embodiments, virtual note-paper can be generated with a background-image that is a facsimile of a reviewer-selected portion of a digital document. Annotations can be made on the facsimile and attached to the digital document in a location chosen by the reviewer. The annotations can be typed (e.g., via keyboard input device) or drawn (e.g., via mouse, finger or stylus) on the virtual note-paper.

Abstract: In described embodiments, fluid user models are employed for personalized mobile applications, referred to herein as recommender systems. The described embodiments augment media with additional information highly personalized to a user based on a variety of factors with different time sensitivity and include, but are not limited to, a user's general preferences, history, immediate context and attention, and emotional states when the user experiences and/or interacts with the media. Embodiments solve various problems of information overload stemming from both i) the complexity in characterizing the information and ii) its potential relevancy and in understanding and coding the user's needs.

Abstract: There is disclosed a user interface for editing photo tags. In an embodiment, the user interface embodies a method of editing photo tags, comprising: displaying a photo on a display; providing a photo tagging mode for editing tags for the displayed photo; and for each tag used to tag a subject or object in the photo, identifying the tag type and associating a unique pointer for each tag type to highlight the corresponding tagged subject or object. The method may further comprise: displaying a tag list of tags used to tag a subject or object in the photo; and identifying the tag type of each tag in the tag list. In an embodiment, context sensitive information may be accessed for each tag depending on the tag type.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for displaying annotations for a multidimensional dataset at a client device is disclosed. The client device is connected to a server system through a network. The client device displays a first view of the multidimensional dataset. The first view includes a first graph over a period of time and a plurality of annotations, each annotation corresponding to a respective time segment within the period of time. Upon receiving a user selection of one of the plurality of annotations, the client device displays a second view of the multidimensional dataset. The second view includes a second graph over the period of time and the plurality of annotation. Finally, the client device highlights the user-selected annotation among the plurality of annotations and the time segment corresponding to the user-selected annotation in the second graph.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to validating logical statements in code for domain specific languages. An aspect includes parsing logical statements and annotating constraint type logical statements with specific constraint annotations from the logical grammar of the domain specific language. A non-contradiction graph is built using specific constraint annotations constrained to represent cases satisfying the logical statements and is solved to find a case that satisfies the logical statement or prove that no such case exists, thus locating a contradiction. The non-contradiction graph is negated to form a non-tautology graph constrained to represent cases violating the logical statements and the non-tautology graph is solved to find a case that violates the logical statement or prove that no such case exists, thus locating a tautology. A report is provided regarding at least one case satisfying the logical statement and at least one case violating the logical statement whereby the logical statement is validated.

Abstract: A multimedia annotation editing system includes: a web server for providing an annotation editing page; and a webpage display device for communicating with the web server via internet, and for receiving and displaying the annotation editing page. If the webpage display device received an annotation template selection command, the webpage display device displays a preview of a target annotation template in an annotation preview area. The webpage display device modifies parameters of the target annotation template according to a user's manipulation and displays a modified preview of the target annotation template in the annotation preview area. The webpage display device transmits modified parameters of the target annotation template to the web server so that the web server generates a multimedia annotation according to the modified parameters of the target annotation template.

Abstract: Meeting documents are provided to N meeting participants of a meeting. Each meeting document comprises a human-readable content marking related to the subject of the meeting and a storage address marking. At the meeting, the meeting participants supply comment markings to the meeting documents, thus forming commented meeting documents. The commented meeting documents are then scanned to form commented meeting document images. The commented meeting document images are then stored in a repository based on the storage address marking. One or more users are then provided with visual access to the commented meeting documents images, thus enabling the one or more users to view the comment markings that are supplied by the meeting participants.

Abstract: Techniques for facilitating annotation of information. Techniques are provided that enable one or more users to annotate video information being displayed by an output device. Different annotation modes may be provided. For example, in one mode, a device is provided that can capture a video frame from video information being output by an output device. One or more users may then annotate the captured video frame. The annotations may be communicated to the output device such that the output displays the captured video frame along with annotations made to the video frame. Other annotation modes are also provided.

Abstract: The invention provides a method, system, and program product for encrypting portions of a document using selective annotation. One method according to the invention includes: defining an annotation border adjacent a portion of a document using a digital pen; applying to the portion of the document an annotation verb specifying that the portion of the document is to be encrypted; entering into the portion of the document information to be encrypted; and encrypting the portion of the document.

Abstract: Embodiments operate in contexts where field data have been generated from a field event, and annotations have been generated from the field data, which purport to identify events within the field data, such as CPR compressions and ventilations. Metrics are generated from the annotations, which are used in training. In such contexts, a grade may be assigned that reflects how well the annotations meet one or more accuracy criteria. The grade may be used in a number of ways. Reviewers may opt to disregard field data and metrics that have a low grade. Expert annotators may be guided as to precisely which annotations to revise, saving time. A low grade may decide that the results are not emailed to reviewers, but to annotators. A learning medical device can use the grade internally to adjust its own internal parameters so as to improve its annotating algorithms.

Abstract: This invention provides a method and apparatus for identifying potential errors in a block of text using rules contributed by a plurality of users. Each rule consists of a pattern (which matches parts of a block of text) and a message (which provides helpful information). A group of rules is applied to a block of text to generate a report that binds messages with sites in the text where the corresponding rule patterns matched. Users can create, organise, edit, publish, rate, and combine rules and groups of rules. User ratings are used to generate better reports. The invention has many potential embodiments, with a web interface being an exemplary embodiment.

Abstract: An e-reader application provides a note based annotation of content in an e-reader. A user action to annotate the content initiates a note pane to capture a note. The note includes variety of types including text, ink, snippet, audio recording, and photo. The note is captured in the note pane which is configured according to the note type. The note is stored in a platform-agnostic in a cloud storage. A local cache also maintains the note for offline usage. The note is anchored to the content using an anchor marker placed within proximity to a selection associated with the note in the content.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies are described herein for providing a three-dimensional (“3D”) annotation facing tool. In accordance with some concepts and technologies disclosed herein, the 3D annotation facing tool provides a way for a user to control the orientation of annotations associated with productivity data in a 3D environment. The 3D annotation facing tool can provide a user with the ability to lock the orientation of the annotation along one or more directional axes. The 3D annotation facing tool can also provide a user with the ability to maintain an orientation of the annotation in a camera facing view.

Abstract: Techniques for use with an electronic book reader include receiving localized evaluative feedback from users, pertaining to different locations within electronic content. The localized feedback is collected at a server and reported to content creators in reports that are formatted to indicate characteristics of the feedback at different locations within the electronic content.

Abstract: The consistency of the heading expressions used in each screen in a plurality of evaluated screens is exhaustively and reliably evaluated. The GUI evaluation system comprises: GUI information storage means for storing GUI information that concerns heading included in an evaluation target screen and includes information indicative of heading expression which is the expression used for the heading; heading group specification means for grouping headings included in each evaluation target screen by expression used for the headings in accordance with the GUI information stored in the GUI information storage means; and heading expression evaluation means for evaluating a consistency of heading expressions between a plurality of evaluation target screens by comparing heading groups that are grouped by the heading group specification means and included in all possible combinations of two of the plurality of evaluation target screens.

Abstract: Methods for launching a process based on annotations made to a document in an enterprise content management system. It is determined whether an annotation has been added to a document in the enterprise content management system, wherein the annotation is stored as a separate element and the separate element is associated with the document. It is determined whether the annotation is of a type indicating that a subsequent workflow process is to be performed. In response to determining that the annotation is of a type indicating that a subsequent workflow process is to be performed, the annotation is parsed to obtain information to be used in the subsequent workflow process. The subsequent workflow process is launched. The launch uses at least some of the information obtained from parsing the annotation as parameters in the subsequent workflow process.

Abstract: A method and system for adding annotations to content of a webpage provided by a content server includes identifying a portion of the content of the webpage and applying an annotation to the identified portion of the content. The annotation is associated with the identified portion. The annotation and its association with the identified portion is saved on an annotations server and a link is generated to an annotated webpage wherein the content for webpage is received from a content server and the annotation is received from the annotations server. The link is sharable so as to enable others to view the annotation associated with the identified portion of the content.

Abstract: Systems and methods for sharing annotations associated with an electronic document. The annotations are created by one or more annotation authors and are shared with one or more other users. A method includes determining frequently annotated portions of the electronic document and providing indicators within the electronic document of the frequently annotated portions. In one embodiment, frequently used words within the annotations are also indicated within the text of the electronic document. In addition, or in another embodiment, the annotations can be searched based on a user's location within the electronic document.

Abstract: A method for sharing notes created in a multilayered document among users of a social network within a digital education platform is provided. In one embodiment, the digital education platform allows a user to create notes linked to a particular location in the document using a notepad application. Notes are aggregated and stored in the user's personal library on the digital education platform. When a user requests to share another user's notes and is granted access, the digital education platform retrieves the other user's notes and inserts the shared notes into the requesting user's existing notes associated with the document, based on their individual sharing attributes and metadata.

Abstract: Various embodiments of systems and methods for annotating documents are described herein. In one aspect, the method includes identifying a type of a document to be annotated, selecting a mapping rule associated with the identified type of the document, and executing the selected mapping rule to determine a position of an annotation within the document. A user selection of the annotation is received. The selected annotation is stored along with the determined position. The annotation and its corresponding position are stored into a repository to enable linking the annotation to its corresponding position on a fly based upon a request. Based upon the request, the position is marked on the fly while displaying the document to show that the position includes the annotation.

Abstract: Comments are displayed in conjunction with a video or other content. A submitted reference point in the video is recorded when a viewer submits a comment. The submitted comment is added to a comment feed at the reference point if no existing comment is displayed at that point already. If an existing comment is already displayed at the reference point, at least one type of the submitted comment is compared to at least one type of the existing comment to produce a comparison result. Based on the comparison result, the submitted comment can be given priority over the existing comment, which can be moved, deleted or otherwise modified so that the submitted comment can be shown at the reference point in the comment feed.

Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for annotating an electronic document independently of its content is provided. According to one variation, a tablet and stylus-based computer is programmed with a document browser that permits a user to annotate documents viewed through the browser. The annotations are stored separately from the viewed document pages but are correlated with the pages such that when a previously annotated page is revisited, annotations relating to that page are retrieved and displayed on top of the page as an “ink” layer. Three different annotation modes are possible: ink, highlight, and erase. Each mode can be selected through a user interface supplied through the browser or through controls embedded in a document.

The storage unit is used for storing an electronic calendar and a memo file written by a user. The touch input unit senses touch input of handwritten content on the displayed electronic calendar by the user and generating signals associated with the user's touch input, and recognizes handwritten content of the user according to the generating signals. The processor includes an identification module and a memo adding module. The identification module determines a date associated to the created handwritten content according to the generated signals. Abstract: A cascading stylesheet (CSS) file transformed with user-selected design variables is provided. One or more CSS files may be received as a first input item, and user defined colors, fonts, layout, and images may be received as a second input item. Embodiments provide for determining if the colors and fonts selected by the user are usable and legible. User-selected color and font schemes may be modified if necessary, and a modified CSS file may be outputted to a rendering engine for rendering an aesthetically pleasing, usable, and legible web page.

Abstract: A method to generate a process flow diagram is disclosed. The method includes receiving a textual description of a process at a remote terminal from an originating user, where the textual description includes one or more activities. The method also includes transmitting the textual description of the process to network servers using a network and analyzing the textual description at the network servers using an analysis module to detect whether there is an error in the textual description of the process. In addition, the method includes generating an annotated textual description according to a set of predefined rules that corrects any known errors that were detected in the textual description and generating a process flow diagram from the annotated textual description using a graph generation module. Further, the method includes transmitting the process flow diagram to the originating user using the network.

The code wrapper engine receives an output stream produced by a source code of a generator. The code wrapper engine also wraps the output stream to produce a copy of the output stream. The memory device stores the source information.

The preview manager process renders the interactive configuration in a graphical format that allows a user to distinguish between the designated content (which has been selected by the user for subsequent application of a redaction function) and the remaining non-designated content in the document. Moreover, a user may interact with the designated content in the document such that, upon user activation (e.g., via an input device such as a mouse), the preview manager process renders a preview configuration that displays a simulation of the resultant application of the redaction function to the designated content. A user may further interact with the designated content in the document such that the preview manager process provides an interactive interface (e.g.
