Abstract: The document management system assigns property information of a scanned document when transmitting the scanned document from an MFP to a document management server PC, and stores history information related to the transmission job in a memory. Further, the MFP, on receipt of incorrectness information related to property information from the document management server PC, adds the incorrectness information to the history information. Thereafter, when a user logs into the MFP, the MFP determines whether incorrectness information is included in history information having the same user ID as a user ID of the user, and if incorrectness information is included, displays a modification screen for modifying incorrect property information. Further, once the property information has been modified via the modification screen, the MFP transmits the modified information to the document management server PC, and causes information managed by the document management server PC to be updated.

Abstract: A method includes obtaining a first XML schema and a second XML schema. One or more schema objects of each of the first XML schema and the second XML schema are identified. An identified schema object of the first XML schema is compared with an identified schema object of the second XML schema. If a difference is detected between the compared schema objects, a risk of the detected difference affecting operation of a composite application incorporating the first schema or the second schema is evaluated. A notification of the evaluated risk is issued.

Abstract: A host Web page includes an evolving interactive dialog box wherein an Internet user may enter user data to be processed. When the user completes entering user data in a first revolution of the interactive dialog box, the first revolution is replaced with a second revolution of the evolving interactive dialog box without disturbing or affecting any other part of the host Web page being displayed. Beneficially, the first and second revolutions may be communicated to a user computer together with and at a same time as the host Web page. Also, the second revolution may include a variety of data which is selected or customized to match the user data submitted in the first revolution. Each revolution of the evolving interactive dialog box may be comprised of any combination of general textual data entry fields, category (pull-down) menus, contact information data entry fields, and opt-in/opt-out buttons.

Abstract: An electronic device displays at least a portion of an electronic document with a predefined page layout at a first magnification level on a display; detects a first input indicating a first insertion point in the document, where the first insertion point is proximate to a first portion of text in the document; and in response to detecting the first input: selects a second magnification level different from the first magnification level, where the second magnification level is selected so as to display the first portion of text at a target text display size, and, while maintaining the predefined page layout of the document, displays, at the second magnification level, a portion of the document that includes the first portion of text.

Abstract: System and method for improving data input by using word frequency to text predict input. Other systems and methods include analyzing words already contained in a document (e.g. spell checking and OCR) and using word frequency to create a proxy system to reduce the space required to store data, allowing for more efficient usage of storage and enhancing the embedded content of matrix codes. The system displays the most common words in a language based upon the previously entered or displayed word(s), or the previously entered or displayed character or characters. Words with the most common frequency of use with the prior word(s) are displayed in a table to enable the user to quickly select one of the displayed words for rapid data entry. The input device can be a touch-sensitive display or non-touch sensitive type device.

Abstract: Apparatuses for associating and displaying messages and contacts in a way that allows users to access either category of information is provided. One apparatus includes a processing element that associates the messages with corresponding contacts and also includes a memory element configured to store contacts and messages received or transmitted. The apparatus may also include a display such that the processing element may generate upon the display a visual representation of the contacts and messages. Messages are associated with corresponding contacts and are displayed according to the associations. For example, a message may be associated with a contact based on a common identifier of the contact and the message. Messages associated with a selected contact may be displayed, and contacts associated with messages that have been received or sent may also be displayed according to user inputs. Methods and computer program products are also provided.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for facilitating the selection of colors. An initial set of colors from a color space is rendered in a user interface. A selection of at least one of the initial set of colors is received. A subsequent set of colors from the color space is rendered in the user interface in response to the selection. The subsequent set of colors is related to the selected colors.

Abstract: Described is a method of rendering first page data to a document, by receiving the first page data in a first format, removing a portion of the first page data having a predetermined attribute; storing the removed data in a memory of the rendering device; inserting references to the removed data into the first page data to produce altered first page data in the first format; transmitting the altered first page data to a platform service device; forming second page data in a second format, the second page data containing the inserted references; and receiving, by the rendering device, the second page data from the platform service device, the rendering device rendering to the document the second page data using the inserted references and the copied data stored in the memory of the rendering device.

Abstract: An electronic book system is configured to allow a user to read a primary portion of an electronic book, then switch to reading a secondary portion of the book, the secondary portion being presented based on a current reading position for the main portion. A reader can repeatedly switch back and forth between primary and secondary portions without losing track of the reader's progress through the book. As an example, a reader in a textbook can immediately switch to a problem set corresponding to the reader's current position in the textbook.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for receiving user requests for a document job. The document job prints characteristics for making markings on a media sheet and an indication to perform fold operations for creating a folded piece. User inputs to identify the outside page designation of the folded piece, first fold direction, fold type, and an outside portion designation. The “outside page designation” indicates the side of the media sheet to contain markings to appear on the exterior of the folded piece. The input for the direction of the first fold includes whether the direction of the first fold is perpendicular to the relatively longer or shorter end of the sheet. After printing, automatic folding of the media sheet(s) into the folded piece is enabled using only the outside page designation, the direction of the first fold, the type of fold, and the outside portion designation.

Abstract: A method and system applied on a mobile device comprising internal processing means to create an image of message wherein a screen capture means in the mobile device provides a single processing step in the mobile device comprising means to convert the entire contents of a displayed message and including a background to a single MMS compliant image in creating a multimedia picture message for transmission to a destination mobile device, wherein transmitting an image of a displayed message comprises executing a single instruction on the mobile device wherein executing the single instruction both activates the screen capture means in the mobile device in creating a single MMS compliant image of a displayed message and transmits the created image thereof as a multimedia picture message to a destination mobile device.

The supplemental content is related to printed content from a printed publication, such as a magazine. A specific set of printed content, such as a page in a magazine, may include multiple content items that may be of particular interest to the user. The user requests the supplemental content regarding a specific content item by selecting a user-selectable field, e.g. presented via a display of a client computing platform, that corresponds to the specific content item.

Abstract: A method for generating and displaying a user-customized page and a mobile device thereof are provided. The method for processing a user-customized page in a mobile device includes collecting use information of a user with respect to the mobile device when a preset specific situation occurs, generating a user-customized page associated with the specific situation using the use information when the specific situation is terminated, and storing the generated user-customized page.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing document services to users thereof. The methods involve: obtaining context information describing at least one aspect of a current situation of a user of a mobile communication device; receiving a request for a document service in response to a user software interaction at the mobile communication device; and adapting the document service based on the context information. The document service comprises a print service, a document conversion service, a document workflow service, a secure access service, or a web service. The obtaining, receiving and adapting steps are collectively performed by at least one of the mobile communication device and a computing device (e.g., a server) remotely located from the mobile communication device.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for detecting documents within content received by a computing device. A computing device can receive content through an application. The received content is scanned to determine if it includes a file type indicating that it includes a redeemable document. A notification is presented to the user when a document has been detected within the content including a button enabling rendering of the document on the computing device. The rendered document can include a button to transmit the document to secondary computing devices associated with the user. A user profile associated with the user can include data indicating secondary computing devices associated with the user. The user profile can be accessed to retrieve the data and, if the button is selected, the document can be transmitted to the secondary computing devices from which the user can render the document.

Abstract: A size of a region to be allocated to an image layout date is bigger than a size of a region to be allocated to a date other than the image layout date (image-not-layout date). An image to be allocated to the image layout date is enlarged so that a size of the image matches a size of an allocation region allocated to the image layout date, and the enlarged images is laid. Characters indicating the dates are arranged to regions allocated to previous dates, the image layout date, and following dates. Accordingly, a calendar with an attractive appearance can be generated by altering the layout of the dates and information to be output, even if a user has taken photographs on not so many days in the unit such as a month or a week.

In response, the float window loader presents the illustrative object in a float window.

Various embodiments are particularly useful for displaying lists of files that a content sharer shares with a content recipient via a URL within the context of a synched file sharing system.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are displaying one or more electronic messages on a user interface. In one method, the method records timestamps of one or more activities of a user in a first user session. Subsequently, the method compares the timestamp of an initialization of a second user session, with the recorded timestamp of the one or more events such as a last logout timestamp and/or a last activity timestamp of the first user session. Further, the method may mark one or more new electronic messages based on the comparison of the timestamps. The method may then display the status of the marked one or more new electronic messages on a user interface based on the markings applied on the one or more new electronics messages received.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for indexing and providing electronic publications (e.g., books) in a networked computing environment. Specifically, embodiments of the present invention provide a publication application in which course instructors (e.g., in an educational embodiment) may designate books available for their students, and students may view and obtain such available publications. In a typical embodiment, a student/user will log into the application (e.g., from an electronic device such as a computer, a tablet, a smart phone, etc.) and view a list of courses in which the student is enrolled and/or publications available thereto. A student may select a publication from the list upon which the publication application may: obtain the selected publication, detect a format thereof, launch an appropriate electronic reading application (e.g., based on the detected format of the electronic publication), and display the publication using the electronic reading application.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for monitoring and detecting changes in files attached to incoming emails. In one embodiment, if files are attached to an outgoing email, the change service uniquely tags each of the attached files and optionally stores local or remote copies of the tagged files. Additionally, in embodiments, the change service monitors and intercepts incoming emails. If files are attached to an incoming email, the change service identifies whether the files are tagged in a manner unique to the compare service. The change service then matches uniquely tagged files in the incoming email to corresponding files previously tagged by the change service. The change service then compares the two documents and generates reports that identify changes in the received document in relation to the transmitted document. Further, in embodiments, the change service provides visual indicators of the changes within the email application.

Abstract: An application synchronizes views during document presentation. The application detects a selection of a section of a portion of presented content at a presenter view. The application shifts the portion of the content displayed at an attendee view to bring to focus the selection. Alternatively, the application displays the selection in a pop-out view pane within the attendee view to bring to focus the selection. The application also shifts content in the attendee view according to an offset ratio calculated from comparing a non-displayed section of a page of the document and a displayed section of a page of the document within the presenter view.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus, which is connected to a peripheral apparatus via a network, issues, to the peripheral apparatus, a request required to acquire a response including information that represents whether or not the peripheral apparatus can notify the information processing apparatus of an event upon completion of print processing. Then, when the information included in the response returned from the peripheral apparatus in response to the request represents that the peripheral apparatus cannot notify the information processing apparatus of any event, the information processing apparatus deletes a print job, data of which have been sent to the peripheral apparatus, from a printer queue required to stack print jobs.

Abstract: Techniques for running content emitters natively on a local operating system, by executing a local executive as a native application on the target operating system. In some embodiments, a content emitter such as a portlet preferably invokes, by its normal inclusion mechanism, a markup emitter directed toward the native user interface environment. The markup streams created by locally-executing portlets are collected by the local executive, but instead of being combined into a browser-based markup stream as in the prior art, one or more windows represented by the markup streams is/are created for rendering with the native operating system. An association is maintained between the created window and the portlet(s) emitting content for that window, and controls can be created and valued for the window using this association. In other embodiments, the content emitters execute remotely and deliver content that is adapted for native rendering.

Abstract: A system and method for contextual visualization of content. An exemplary system comprises a visualization module that can determine a sentiment and at least one other metric relating to the content. The metric could be any of recency, velocity and virality. The visualization module generates a plot for visualizing the sentiment and the at least one other metric.

Abstract: Web page optimization systems and methods are disclosed herein. In one implementation, a number of master pages and page layouts used to generate the web pages are defined. A number of channels are then defined to be associated with certain ones of the master pages and the page layouts. User device generating the request, a browser used to generate the request, and other suitable components of a user agent string in a web page request is then identified. A web page is rendered in response to the identified components of the user agent string using the master page and the page layout associated with a channel identified by such components of the web page request.

The values of a parameter of the yarn are determined from the measured values. Densities of events in the event field are determined from the values of the parameter and its extension in the longitudinal direction. Abstract: An author of a document may be enabled to specify viewing preferences for displaying a document in a reading view. The author may be enabled to define or select among available options for document viewing preferences such as transitions, animations, display of selected elements, layout features, embedded objects, and comparable ones. A reader of the document may be enabled to specify similar viewing preferences on their end. The author's preferences may also include customization of viewing rules based on a device, application, or version of application through which the document is viewed. In case of conflict between the author's and reader's preferences, one may prevail depending on permission levels and similar attributes.

Abstract: A system and method for providing differentiated display of a map feature is provided. Vector data which defines one or more features for a map is received from a server. The map is displayed based on the received vector data. A user selection of at least one feature from among the one or more features for differentiated display within the map is received. Differentiated display of the at least one feature is provided within the map, based on the vector data received from the server and on the received user selection.

Abstract: A content generation service is described that generates content for electronic documents in different languages based upon templates. The templates may include paragraph templates composed of sentence types including sentence templates. The sentence templates may further include variables having corresponding attributes. Each of the paragraph templates, sentence templates, and attributes may be hierarchically organized. The content generation service may obtain data describing an item of interest, such as a travel item. The obtained data may further specify a document language, section and paragraph for which content is to be generated. Content is generated for variables in hierarchical order, with higher ranked paragraphs considered first. Within the highest ranked paragraph, a sentence type is selected and the variables within the highest ranked sentence template of the sentence type are considered.

Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed herein that relate to customizing a presentation of digital content to a user based upon a representation of a personality type of the user. For example, one disclosed embodiment provides a computing system configured to receive digital content for presentation to a user, and to compare one or more personality type labels associated with the digital content to a personality type indicator of the user. The computing system is further configured to customize presentation of the digital content based on a result of comparing the personality type indicator of the user with the one or more personality type labels. Embodiments are also disclosed that relate to detecting an emotional state of a user during a user input of digital content, and associating a representation of the detected emotional state with the digital content.
