The print dialog identifies at least one printer and provides the at least one printing option. The data processing system includes a print preview generator configured to generate a print preview providing the content displayed in accordance with the at least one printing option within the print dialog, and a user interface controller configured to receive a selection of the at least one printing option through the displayed content. The print preview generator is configured to change the displayed content of the print preview according to the selection of the at least one printing option received through the displayed content.

An example includes a repository having a plurality of documents and a user-interface to select at least one of the documents from the repository. The system also includes a non-volatile storage medium having instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to provide a prompt via the user interface for each selected document permitting choice between printing the document to a local area network printer, printing the document to a cloud-based printer, or converting the document to a predetermined format The non-volatile storage medium includes additional instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to render the document based on the choice made in response to the prompt. Examples of a method for use in a document management system and a non-volatile storage medium are also disclosed herein.

The controller determines whether or not a loss detection image for determining presence or absence of data loss has been superimposed on a first document image scanned by the scanner, and when it is determined that the loss detection image has been superimposed on the first document image, extracts the loss detection image from the first document image and determines presence or absence of data loss in the extracted loss detection image, and notifies a user of presence or absence of data loss based on a result of the determination of presence or absence of data loss in the extracted loss detection image.

When the distributed printing setup of a file to be printed is requested on the generated UI screen, a workflow generator generates a workflow by combining the image forming apparatuses to distribute the printing job to the registered image forming apparatuses.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method and apparatus is provided for reducing ink consumption when printing electronic documents. An electronic document is processed to identify different elements of the document, such as images, text blocks, and advertisements. Once the element identification is complete, a score is assigned to each one of the elements. The scores are then compared against a threshold T and only elements whose scores exceed the threshold T are printed. By filtering out some of the elements of the electronic document, the method and apparatus conserves ink and other printer consumables.

Abstract: In setting, by using a format, a non-display region in image data obtained by an image reading unit, a format location information input unit writes in the image data, an image representing information on access to a format storage unit in an external apparatus where a format to be used has been stored. In displaying the image data, a format location information extraction unit extracts the format location information by extracting the image from the image data. A format obtaining unit obtains the format by accessing the format storage unit based on the information. An image modification unit uses the obtained format to modify the image data such that the designated region is displayed in an invisible manner.

Abstract: An image forming system includes: a print instruction terminal; and a print apparatus having a printing unit that prints print data instructed to be printed from the print instruction terminal. The print instruction terminal includes: a setting information receiving unit that receives print setting information including paper attributes; a loading method displaying unit that displays a method of loading paper corresponding to the print setting information received by the setting information receiving unit in a feeding unit of the print apparatus; and a transmitting unit that transmits the print setting information. The layout includes a panoptic arrangement of visual representations of the document components of the layout according to the associated metadata of the respective document components. The support engine is configured to retrieve and prepare the selected document component(s) for printing according to at least a selected print layout style. Preparation of the selected document component(s) includes generation of one or more printable document components for respective ones of the printout(s).

Abstract: A system and process are disclosed for providing users with page previews during page loading events, such that the delay experienced before the display of page content is reduced. The previews may include screenshots of the pages or of portions thereof, and may be generated periodically and cached by the system for delivery to user devices. The process of generating and delivering the previews via the Internet or some other network may be implemented partly or wholly within an intermediary system that sits logically between the user devices and content servers. The process may be used with existing browsers without the need for any browser modifications, or may be used with a “preview-aware” browser that includes special program code for providing page previews.

Abstract: Whether all pages have the same print settings is determined before print settings are changed in a print preview, and the setting change is permitted only when all pages have the same print settings. In each layer of XPS data to be processed, whether the print setting information is not added to the element of the layer or whether the print setting information added to the element of the layer is shared by all elements of the layer is determined. A change in the print setting information by the user is accepted if one of the conditions is satisfied. When the print settings are changed, the setting change is not reflected on individual print tickets. The change is reflected on the entire job by adding a print ticket reflected with the setting change on the top element.

Abstract: A method, printer, system, and program product for mobile printing, comprising, in one embodiment, the steps of: obtaining a portable computing device with a reference to a printer-independent On-the-Go-print queue on the Internet; obtaining print data; and transferring the print data to the On-the-Go Print Queue on the Internet. In a further aspect of the present invention, the On-the-Go Print Queue may be accessed to set at least one storage or print parameter. In a further aspect of the present invention, the print data may be converted to generic print data and encrypted prior to transferring the print data to the On-the-Go Print Queue. In a yet further aspect, a key for decryption and the reference for the On-the-Go print queue may obtained at a printer from a portable computing device such as a smart card.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus of the present invention includes: a blank document determination section determining whether or not input image data is image data of a blank document, regardless of a process mode set for setting a process with respect to the input image data; a storage device storing the input image data in association with a determination result made by the blank document determination section; and a control section (i) reading out the input image data from the storage device and (ii) excluding the input image data determined as image data of a blank document by the blank document determination section, from images to be displayed by the image display device, when the image display device carries out a preview display of the input image data. This configuration makes it possible to carry out a preview display in which a blank document (blank page document) is skipped, without reading the document again.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus for controlling printing of a printing apparatus has a user interface, a graphics unit, and a print information storing unit to store generated print information before transmitting the generated print information to the printing apparatus. When generating the print information, the graphics unit generates job identification information for identifying the printing operation settable based on the input printout conditions and a print information generation instruction. The graphics unit correlates the generated job identification information and the generated print information. The user interface generates job identification information for the printing operation, obtains the print information correlated with the generated job identification information, and activates a print information use unit for presenting information, related to the printing operation, to the user.

Abstract: A print control apparatus may include a determination unit, a division unit, and a rearrangement unit to process print data impositioned by an application program. The determination unit determines whether at least one of an impositioned appearance indicating an arrangement of logical pages in respective physical pages of the impositioned print data, and a print output attribute, which is an attribute of an output of the impositioned print data, satisfies a division condition set in advance. If the determining unit determines that the impositioned appearance or the print output attribute satisfies the division condition, the division unit divides the impositioned print data in logical-page unit. The rearrangement unit rearranges divided logical pages in an order according to the impositioned appearance. If neither the impositioned appearance nor the print output attribute satisfies the division condition, the impositioned print data is prevented from being divided in logical-page unit.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus sets, on an image to be printed, the print position of attribute information of the image. The information processing apparatus displays, on a display device, the print preview screen of the image to be printed in which an image forming the attribute information is arranged at the set print position. Abstract: A preflight engine configured to preflight multiple portions of a document substantially in parallel by using multi-threadings or time slicing. A controller manages the portions and interacts with the preflight engine to determine which of the portions is to be preflighted next. An observer is coupled to the preflight engine to notify the preflight engine when there is a document to preflight or when a change occurs to a document being preflighted. A database is used to store results of the preflight and the corresponding portions.

A stream of frames is generated in a preview specific format by a plug-in that executes within the sandboxed process. Abstract: What is disclosed is a novel system and method for augmenting present methods used for determining the orientation direction automatically being detected of digital pages of a plurality of scanned documents in a digital document processing environment. The present method takes advantage of the observation that pages scanned in data processing centers are often highly correlated. The present method contains five primary steps. 1) Page orientation (i.e., up/down) is detected using a traditional method. 2) Each page is classified as either directional or non-directional. 3) The pages classified as directional are clustered into groups. 4) The direction for each group is determined. 5) The directional group's direction is used to revise the orientation for pages contained in the group. Through the implementation of the teachings hereof, performance, in terms of both speed and accuracy, are very high relative to current methods and detection error rates can be reduced significantly.

Abstract: A print preview is displayed for a printer on a network. A selection of a document to be printed by the printer is accepted, and a request for the selected document is sent from the printer to a remote print preview service. There is a determination of whether the printer supports a native print preview function capable of displaying a visually acceptable print preview on a display unit of the printer. If the printer supports such a native print preview function, the printer requests the remote print preview service to generate a native print preview compatible with the capabilities of the printer and to transmit the generated native print preview to the printer. If the printer does not support such a native print preview function, the printer requests the remote print preview service to generate a print preview for an alternate display device, and to transmit the generated print preview to the alternate display device.

Abstract: Electronic document design methods and computer programs allowing a user to separately control and modify layout and the design components of an electronic document. A number of possible document layouts and possible document designs are stored. A document is based on the combination of one of the stored layouts and one of the stored designs. While the user is viewing the electronic document, controls are available to the user allowing the user to view and select among alternate layouts and designs for that document. Color schemes and font schemes for the document may also be separated controlled.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus is disclosed. The image processing apparatus uses software architecture called pipes-and-filters architecture. The image processing apparatus includes an inputting filter, a processing filter, a printing filter, and a preview image displaying filter. Distribution methods include print, ship, mail, fax, email, and save. The distribution utility generates and distributes the document (via an output device) based on the packet. The distribution utility, which can be used with a variety of business applications, includes control logic and a document processor. The document processor helps generate the document.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer-implemented method, and associated apparatus, for printed document verification. A document to be printed will have related content data, imposition data, and finishing data, wherein the imposition data describes at least one imposition signature for the document and the finishing data describes the application of one or more finishing operations to be performed in order to produce the printed document. This data is obtained using an input device and is passed to a representation system that generates an electronic output representation of the document to be printed and finished, in accordance with the said content, imposition and finishing data. An operator can then inspect this electronic representation to check for errors that might arise.
