Abstract: An electronic pasting method for pasting electronic data in consideration of printed and written data, including updating pasted data when electronic data is updated after it is pasted. The electronic pasting method uses a detecting unit and a paste information updating unit. The detecting unit detects a paste stroke made over two print sheets filled to denote a user's pasting action with which part or whole of a printed matter of electronic document information is pasted on printed matter, then detects the pasting action from a set of paste strokes, thereby obtaining a paste-from document, a paste-to document, and a paste position according to the pasting action detected by the detecting unit. The paste information updating unit updates the e-document, the printed matter information, and the written information according to the above paste information.

Abstract: According to techniques described herein, print job attributes are checked to identify potential conflicts and potential invalid settings. According to one embodiment of the invention, a job setting manager process executing on a printing device is configured to examine and store print job attributes as detected by print interpreter modules. According to an embodiment of the invention, the job setting manager maintains a data structure comprising print job attributes, their values, and other information. As each interpreter module detects a job setting in the print data, the job setting manager receives this setting and its value and checks the data structure to identify conflicts between previously-set job attributes and whether the requested job attribute is supported by the destination printing device. According to an embodiment of the invention, if a conflict is identified, a notification is produced.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus acquires information indicating each of a plurality of profiles, selects one profile based on the pieces of information, and transmits, to an information processing apparatus, identification information for identifying the selected profile. The image forming apparatus receives, from the information processing apparatus, an image reading instruction complying with a setting for reading an image, included in the profile identified based on the identification information. The image forming apparatus determines whether a setting indicated by the received instruction and a setting for reading the image, included in one selected profile correspond to each other. When it is determined that the settings do not correspond to each other, the image forming apparatus reads the image to generate image data in accordance with the setting for reading the image, included in one selected profile.

One or more embodiments of the invention provide for the association of one or more output device configurations with one or more files, layouts, or views.

Abstract: A method for proactively creating a photobook includes identifying a group of images by a computer system and automatically creating a design for a photobook by the computer system without receiving a user's request for designing a photobook if the number of images in the group is determined to be within a predetermined range. Pages of the photobook incorporate a plurality of images in the group. The method further includes presenting the design of the photobook to a user for preview and receiving an order from the user for a physical manifestation of the photobook based on the design.

Abstract: Methods and systems for automated, local product classification through knowledge engineering aided by visual representation of the product may be combined with some targeted queries. A library of product descriptions, particularly, print product descriptions, are visualized and custom document visualizations can be created and added. Products in the library can be searched and managed via a query mechanism that filters on values of the product characteristics. Knowledge encoded in the visual representation is automatically mapped into the classification system's internal representation of the print products which is thus made common throughout the shop and may be made common across shops. The characteristics as described by the product visualization, in combination with ranges and other parameter constraints, can be subsequently mapped into the internal abstraction of product type representation of a conversation system for transforming product descriptions into process networks.

A user can also search for particular terms within the several documents. In response to a search, the preview application can filter the pages of the several documents and only display those pages that include the search terms. The displayed pages can be ordered in any suitable manner, including for example by search rank.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for resolving inter-page nodes in flow diagrams is presented. In one embodiment, an inter-page node in a flow diagram is identified. An inter-page node is a node laid out on a page break in a multi-page flow diagram. A set of candidate pages is formed. A bid for each page in a set of candidate pages is requested from each policy in a set of page break policies. A page is selected from the set of candidate pages based on bids received from the set of page break policies. A value of each bid indicates a level of suitability of each page in the set of candidate pages. The inter-page node located on the page break is moved to a new location on the selected page. The new location on the selected page is located off of all page breaks for the flow diagram.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically assigning items to printable media are disclosed. A computer readable medium is in communication with a computing device and includes programming instructions for electronically obtaining a first template that includes a plurality of first content items, each including a first content area. For each first content item, first content area properties and first content item properties are identified. A second template including a plurality of second content areas is electronically obtained. For each second content area, second content area properties, second content item properties and content rules are automatically identified. For each first content item, it may be determined whether a first content item corresponds to a second content area based on the rules. The first content item may be automatically assigned to the second content area. A representation of each assigned content item may be printed.

Abstract: A system and method are described for creating photo stories using video. The method includes receiving a user request to upload a user-specified video stream; determining whether the video stream meets one or more predetermined requirements, uploading the video stream; analyzing the video stream to select video frames for extraction based on a set of predetermined frame selection criteria; extracting the selected video frames from the video image; selecting a story book template to be used with the video images; and generating a preview of the story book template with the video images within a graphical user interface (GUI), the user editing the story book template with text and/or moving or modifying the video frames within the preview.

Abstract: The subject embodiments relate to software tools providing a simplified way for print customers to easily perform pre-press checks and editing digital assets for use in a variable information print job. The digital assets are uploaded to the appropriate storage location in a digital asset repository hosted by the print system and checked for compatibility with variable data fields. Abstract: A method for printing a web page with an advertisement is provided. When a web user wants to print a specific web page of a web site, a web printing exclusive viewer operates and then the specific web page is automatically adjusted to be fit into a printing area of a web browser. Then, the web page with an advertisement related to the contents of a current web page, provided from the web server, is printed, and the web server automatically counts a page view while printing the web page, such that an accurate total page view count value can be obtained.

Abstract: A system and method for gathering CRM information in a variable imaging application utilize keywords which are associated with each image of a number of digital images. A variable imaging job stream is generated containing one or more of the digital images. Keyword metadata may also be inserted into the variable imaging job stream, and the variable imaging job stream is received by a VI production system. The variable imaging job stream is processed by the VI production system, thereby identifying the keywords previously associated with the contained images, and also extracting the inserted keyword metadata. A CRM output is generated containing the identified keywords and the extracted keyword metadata.

Abstract: A method selects a folding program for a job to be carried out on a folding system, the job being provided with a job specification. The method includes calculating a fold program and an associated fold configuration based on the job specification, resulting in a set of configuration properties. The method further includes evaluating the fold program to check whether the associated fold configuration properties satisfy a set of configuration conditions. A folding system for folding a job, a printer driver, a computer program and a computer-readable medium for carrying out the method are also included.

Abstract: A system, computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and a computer-implemented method for presenting information to a user are presented. Information to be presented to the user is received, where the information has a predetermined format. An identifier for the user is obtained. A visual acuity for the user is obtained using the identifier for the user. The predetermined format is adjusted based on the visual acuity of the user to produce an adjusted format. The information is presented to the user using the adjusted format.
