The displaying method includes receiving a preview image request, requesting to an outer server a preview image requested from a user among total pages comprising a pint data according to the preview image request, receiving a preview image on requested pages from the outer server, and displaying the received preview image. Accordingly, the preview image can be generated and displayed quickly.

Abstract: A widget is incorporated into a user interface associated with a processing system to provide the user with a display of the entered data, together with any added text or other data modifications that result from application of a default format. The display thus enables the user to determine whether or not the default format can be used with the entered data, before the data is processed. The widget also provides a toggle capability, to allow the user to override the default behavior of the processing system and select a different valid format for use with the entered data, from a format priority list contained in the widget. The display and toggle capabilities cause the entered data to be processed by the system as intended by the user.

Abstract: A method, document processing apparatus, and computer readable recording medium for performing document preparation of documents to be printed by a multi-function output device capable of applying finishing functions to the printed document. A document preparation program further includes a WYSIWYG display function for displaying the document or portions of the document in a WYSIWYG format. For example, one embodiment of the invention comprises a graphical user interface comprising: a first region for displaying the listing of contacts received from the stationery service contacts manager, the contacts within the listing of contacts selectable via a user input device; a second region comprising a series of data field for entering a new contact via a user input device; a third region displaying a list of contacts to whom the online stationery service will mail stationery directly on behalf of the end user, the contacts within the third region selected from the first region or entered in the second region; and a print module to generate a print job to print the personalized stationery and envelopes containing the address information for the user-selected contacts.

Abstract: A computer-assisted design tool for identifying, specifying, ordering, pulling, connecting and labeling one or more types of electrical cable at a job site uses a job plan as a primary organizing concept. The job plan has one or more applications for which the cable is to be provided and one or more device types to which one of several possible cable types is to be connected. Each device type is associated with one or more locations at which the identified device is located at the site. For each location, a cable length and number of pulls are specified, and a markup legend code is stored to show how the cable length should be marked up to indicate the location to which the cable length is to be connected. The design tool automatically generates markup legend images based on the stored markup codes and enables the user to order all cable requirements for the job over the Internet. The tool also generates comprehensive documentation for the job to be installed, including box labels and wire tags.

Abstract: A user defines regions within each page of a print job and independently specifies a desired print quality setting for each such region. The printer driver running on the host computer that will submit the print job to a printer or printing device has a user interface through which a representation of the print job is displayed for the user. Using the user input device of the host computer, the user can then define or specify multiple elements or regions within each page of the print job. The user can then further set a desired print quality for each of the specified elements or regions. In this way, those elements of a print job that require a high print quality for a satisfactory appearance, such as photographs, can be identified and printed an appropriate quality levels, while other elements, such as text, that do not require a high print quality for a satisfactory appearance can be printed at a lesser print quality level.

Abstract: A product preview method for a plurality of selected products populated with a selected plurality of digital images includes causing a display of an image selection control. A digital image is identified that corresponds to a user's manipulation of the image selection control. A display is caused of a preview group containing a plurality of preview images for only those of the plurality of products selected to be populated with the identified digital image.

Abstract: An input of document data, in which a rule for retrieving an object from a database has been specified for each region, is received. For each region, the number of times that the database is referenced for retrieving the object is counted by applying the rule. A reference value and each of the counted are compared. For each region, it is determined that the object is to be inserted in the region if the result of the comparison is that the number of times is less than or equal to the reference value, and that the object is not to be inserted in the region if the number of times is greater than the reference value. A preview of the document data is displayed with, for each region, the object being inserted in the region or the object not being inserted in the region in accordance with the determination.

Abstract: Methods disclosed permit the dynamic previewing of simulation output. In some embodiments, input data may be converted from a first color space to obtain a plurality of downsampled representations of simulation output data in the second color space. A downsampled representation of the simulation output data with a first downsampling factor may be selected so that the first downsampling factor permits display of the entire image in a current size of the display window. Pixels in the input source data can be correlated with pixels in the selected downsampled representation of the simulation output data. At least one pixel in the selected downsampled representation of the print simulation output data may be mapped to a set of pixels in the input data, wherein the number of pixels in the set is determined by the first downsampling factor and one of the pixels in the set can be selected.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method (1900) of forming a printable representation of a document (1800) having framed content (1808). The method includes recording (1904) the position, height and width of each frame of the document in a display window in which the document is presented. The dimensions of a printing medium associated with the printable representation are also identified. A height of content of each frame is determined and, for each frame, a record of any corresponding dependency frames, each dependency frame being above the frame in the display window. The records are then interpreted to establish a display order of the frames.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for creating a preview image of an object is provided. The apparatus includes an object type detecting unit for detecting an object to be previewed for determining whether the type of the object is text, graphics, and image, a color matching unit for converting a color signal of the detected object into an image forming color signal by using a color profile corresponding to the detected object according to the detection result of the object type detecting unit, and a preview image creating unit for creating and displaying a preview image for the object converted into the image forming color signal. Therefore, because the preview image is displayed on a monitor according to the type of object (text, graphics, or image), a user can predict the image forming result more accurately. Further, because the colors of objects can be adjusted, a printout with desired color characteristics can be obtained.

Abstract: A print control program according to the present invention makes an information processor control a printer. The printer is connected to the information processor and can do printing under the conditions set. The set conditions can reduce the consumption of printing media by the printer. The program includes a first step through a fourth step. The first step is to wait until an instruction is entered into the information processor to start printing under the set conditions. The second step is to analyze the set conditions if the information processor detects the entered instruction at the first step. The third step is to form a preview image representing an image or images as printed under the analyzed conditions at least one of which has been changed to further reduce the printing medium consumption. The fourth step is to display the formed preview image on the display of the information processor.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an image processing apparatus for displaying a preview image of an input job and a method of controlling the apparatus. The apparatus determines an attribute of an object included in an input job, analyzes the job while switching the degree of the precision of analysis of the job based on a user-specified display size and the attribute of the object, and generates and displays a preview image of the job based on the analysis results.

Various embodiments of the present invention provide a fold preview of a web page, including fixed-width and flexible-width web page designs. Other embodiments of the present invention provide a fold preview of any software application interface. Abstract: Multiple user interfaces are presented to allow a user to easily and quickly manipulate and merge graphical images. A first user interface allows the user to select amongst available graphical images one or more images to edit and merge. A second user interface allows the user to edit at least one of the selected images using a variety of editing features. Another user interface is provided to facilitate the merging of the selected images. Still another user interface is provided for editing the composite image created from the merging process. Finally, another user interface is provided to allow the user to output the image to file in an e-mail, to a printer, to memory, or the like. Providing multiple user interfaces allows for directed user interaction that increases the simplicity of creating composite graphical images.

Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for simultaneously commencing output of disparately encoded electronic documents. Selection data representative of multiple electronic documents encoded in multiple disparate formats is first received. For example, the electronic documents are capable of being encoded in MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD, MICROSOFT OFFICE EXCEL, ADOBE ACROBAT formats, and the like. Each of the disparate formats is associated with a corresponding software module and then retrieved in accordance with received selection data. Next, the electronic documents are communicated to corresponding software modules, and the document processing device commences a selected document processing operation on each of the electronic documents by a corresponding software module. Each application-specific module is adapted for processing a document processing request for one or more types of documents that are associated with one specific application.

By annotating selected object(s) on the display in this manner, the embodiments provide an accurate indication of color variations between the two versions even in a non-calibrated and/or non-optimal viewing environment.

Abstract: A document is displayed which is formed from a page in which field areas containing data of a plurality of types of records are laid out on the basis of the template. The sizes of the field areas in the template are calculated on the basis of the amounts or sizes of data of the data fields for each record, and the layout of the calculated field areas in the template is determined. The change amount of the field area after the layout is determined is calculated. On the basis of the calculated change amount, the order of records which form a document to be displayed is changed to display the records.

Abstract: A method and system for applying user-specified finishing options to a printed output document. A finishing window is displayed showing a document mimic in the finishing window, and displaying finishing tool selection regions in the finishing window which enable the user to activate selective finishing tools. Finishing location identifiers are displayed on portions of the document mimic, each displayed location identifier being associated with the currently activated finishing tool, and each displayed location identifier identifying a region of the printed output document by its location on the document mimic. WYSIWYG representations of user-selected finishing tool operations are performed in the portion of the document mimic identified by the selected finishing location identifier. The WYSIWYG operations include, but are not limited to, stapling, hole-punching, V-folding, C-folding, Z-folding, and binding. Also included are WYSIWYG operations for undoing each of the aforementioned operations.

Abstract: The subject embodiments relate to software tools providing a simplified way for print customers to easily perform pre-press checks and editing digital assets for use in a variable information print job. According to the system and method, a user inputs a book identification into a peripheral device to cause the peripheral device to access an electronic version of the book. Abstract: A system and methods for remotely viewing a dynamically generated page layout is described. The page layout can represent a reader ordering of pages defined as part of a print production job. Abstract: A data conversion apparatus is provided with a reception unit, a conversion unit, a display and an edit unit. The conversion unit converts first data having a first format for printing received by the reception unit into second data having a second format for display. The display displays the converted second data. The edit unit performs a display-purpose edit with respect to at least one of the first data or the second data.
