Abstract: This invention relates to a system and method to configure, view, and order a document online. The document is uploaded from a client and transferred over a network to a server. The server includes software that allows a user to configure and preview the document online. The user may change configuration parameters as desired. Once the configuration process is complete, the user may order the document, specifying multiple recipients as desired. The user is then billed for the order and the document is delivered to the indicated recipient(s).

Abstract: A printing system is capable of displaying a preview of an image with a low resolution without causing degradation in performance and affinity for an operating system. When previewing is performed, preview printer information corresponding to the low resolution is set as printer information in a printer graphics driver by a print processor. The printer graphics driver produces a preview file by converting (rasterizing) an EMF spool file into low-resolution data. The resultant preview file is displayed as a print image on a display by a previewer.

Abstract: In a print system of this invention, upon issuance of a preview instruction from an application (201), print data is spooled in a spool file (303). A printer driver (203) despools the spooled data and transmits the despooled data to a printer (2000) as a preview job together with job setting information. The printer (2000) generates preview information for each physical page in accordance with the job setting information, and sends it to a host computer (3000). A previewer (306) receives the preview information, reads out data from a spooler, and displays a preview image in accordance with the received preview information.

Abstract: The application discloses systems and methods for physically sharing a hard copy of a document. The systems and methods include presenting to a user a graphical user interface having printing options for printing the document, where the graphical user interface has an input for receiving an indication by the user that the user is willing to share the hard copy of the document; presenting to the user options for defining characteristics of the hard copy of the document in response to receiving the indication; and publishing at least one of the defined characteristics within a profile page of the user.

Abstract: A printer according to the present invention receives a PDL via a network. Thereafter, the printer creates metadata by interpreting the received PDL and extracting rendering attribute information used in each page. The printer generates vector data from the PDL. Based on setting information on the printer, the printer generates a display list from the vector data. The generated vector data, display list and metadata are stored in a storage device in the printer in association with each other. Thus, output efficiency is improved.

Abstract: An image processing method of reproducing an image displayed on a screen of a display unit on a printing medium used by an image forming device includes displaying a preview window on the screen of the display unit, displaying the image in the preview window, and printing the image having the same colors as those displayed in the preview window using the image forming device. In addition, an image processing apparatus usable with a display unit and an image forming device includes a data capture unit to capture data of at least a portion of an image displayed on a screen of the display unit, and a color adjustment unit to convert the image displayed on the screen of the display unit to an image having the same colors as those of an image displayed in a preview window by adjusting the colors of the image displayed on the screen of the display unit based on the image data captured by the data capture unit, and to output the converted image to the image forming device.

Abstract: An image output apparatus including: an image processing section for processing an image; a printing section that prints the image; a display section that displays the image; an instruction section that allows a user to instruct execution of a print job, and execution of a display job; and a job control section that controls the jobs to start the execution of the print job or the display job in response to the instruction, wherein when the job control section receives instructions to start print jobs and/or display jobs, the job control section controls the jobs to register the print jobs and/or the display jobs in a queue and start these jobs in the order, and when an instruction for a display job in the queue is again received from the instruction section, the job control section controls the jobs to move the display job to the forefront of the queue.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and user interface wherein a multifunction copier, equipped with a Universal Serial Bus port, accepts data directly from a USB-Data Storage Device (USB-DSD) for the purpose of printing, e-mailing, and faxing. The system contains a copier containing a computer-controller having at least one USB port interface. The controller has a service that can either be enabled or disabled by a system administrator. The service is capable of performing email, printing and facsimile functions. When a user inserts a USB-DSD into the USB port on the controller, the service presents the user with the three options stated above. Once the user selects the desired function, the service then invokes a document conversion utility, which scans the USB-DSD and displays the supported files found on the DSD. Each desired function will have multiple options for a user to choose.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for an intervention-by-choice printhead maintenance method in an ink jet printing system. Profile representations of scheduled print jobs are compiled which are representative of ink jet performance demand therefor. An ink jet failure is detected and related to the profile representations. A likely impact of ink jet failure is assessed relative to job specific print quality requirements for the scheduled print jobs. Print jobs are rescheduled for enhancing system performance efficiency by re-queuing selected jobs that can be executed with a detected ink jet failure while satisfying a job specific print quality requirement before a system repair intervention.

Abstract: This invention relates to a document processing apparatus. The document processing apparatus capable of editing the output format of document data formed from a document page includes a page repeat layout setting save unit which saves page repeat layout setting information designated by the user, a document generator which, when a page repeat layout is set by the page repeat layout setting information, generates output document data containing a page repeat printing page prepared by laying out a basic page by a plurality of number of times on one print page in accordance with the page repeat layout setting information by defining as the basic page one print page used when no page repeat layout is set, and a display controller which displays the document data in a print form in a display window on the basis of the output document data.

Abstract: In order to maintain consistency between stored data and an image formed on a recording medium, an MFP includes an HDD to store data, a data designation portion to designate target data to be an output target from the data stored in the HDD, a prohibition portion to prohibit modification or deletion of the target data, and an image forming portion to generate a composite image by combining the target data with positional information indicating a position in the HDD where the target data is stored and to form the composite image on a sheet of paper.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for appending element files to a print container in a multifunctional peripheral (MFP) device. The method accepts a first element file and a print container including a second element file. Examples of element files other print containers, fixed documents, application-specific documents, page description language (PDL) documents, extensible markup language (XML) paper specification (XPS) fixed documents, facsimile documents, and scanned documents. The method modifies the print container to include the second element file and the first element file preserved as separate entities, and stores the modified print container in a tangible memory medium.

Abstract: Methods and a system for an electronic device to allow for indicating a size or scale of a rendering in a three dimensional view. A virtual scene is displayed on a display with a work product that is rendered, such as a document or packaging request having a job ticket. The rendering is provided with a common object that is a three dimensional virtual object that relates size to the document or packaging for approval in the proofing process. A quick visual cue is therefore provided to visually convey a realistic scale in proportion to the product rendered three dimensionally.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a printing control method and a printing controller which are capable of performing high-quality printing in a short period of time, and which are capable of reducing human error. To achieve this end, the printing control method is used to control a printing system, which is equipped with a server to store printing data which contains platemaking data and related information, a printing machine equipped with a plurality of printing presses, a terminal unit for acquiring the printing image data and outputting command information to the printing machine, detectors for detecting a state of a printed page, and controllers for controlling the printing presses based on the printing data and detection information.

Abstract: Computer-implemented electronic document design systems and methods allowing a user to integrate user-specific location maps into custom printed products. During the creation of an electronic design of a product intended for subsequent printing, user-provided location information is received by a server computer and used to generate a user map suitable for high quality printing. Lower resolution display and thumbnail versions of the map suitable for displaying to the user of the client system are generated.

Abstract: A method of making an image product comprising displaying digital images and a template with one or more template openings for display in a GUI. A digital image to be placed in the template opening has an image size that is checked for compatibility with the template opening size. A maximum print or display size is calculated based on a viewing distance for the digital image and on the image size. If the maximum print or display size is different than the selected template opening size, the template opening is modified and centered at the template opening center point. The digital image is then composited into the modified template opening, and the composited template is communicated.

Abstract: An image processor and an image processing method which can minimize variation of color tone or density in an image after screen processing, even if semi-transparency has been specified. The image processor generates semi-transparent image data by overlaying a semi-transparent object on the PDL data to be rendered semi-transparent. Subsequently, screen processing is performed on the semi-transparent image data, by dither processing. Subsequently it is determined whether or not to define the screen processed semi-transparent image data as the image data for printing. If the result of determination is No, the halftone value of the semi-transparent object is modified to be larger than the current value.

Abstract: Provided are printers and other electronic devices, systems, methods, and computer program products that automatically detect and determine UTF-16 encoding schemes and endiannesss thereof in an incoming XML data steam for XML declarations without a UTF-16 byte-order mark (BOM) or encoding declaration. This allows for the automatic and unambiguous accurate detection of UTF-16 encoded XML data within a mixed encoding environment, such as from multiple sources using more than one encoding scheme, even when XML data does not start with a BOM or encoding declaration.

Abstract: When a printing apparatus is connected to a personal computer, an editing program for editing an object to be printed by the printing apparatus is actuated.
