Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product of developing a hybrid interactive electronic technical manual. A set of sub-elements associated with core maintenance tasks is selected from a plurality of sub-elements in technical data for a device to form a set of core sub-elements. A cost-benefit analysis is performed on each sub-element in the set of remaining sub-elements to identify a sub-element benefit rating for the each sub-element. Sub-elements in the set of remaining sub-elements having a sub-element rating greater than or equal to a threshold benefit rating are selected to form a set of high benefit sub-elements. The set of core sub-elements and the set of high benefit sub-elements are converted from the non-interactive native file format to an interactive electronic technical manual database format. A set of links to the set of unconverted sub-elements is generated to form the hybrid interactive electronic technical manual.

Abstract: An automated website analysis system includes mechanisms for automatically reviewing a website and identifying various features of the website. In one implementation, the analysis system can rely at least in part on the actual downloading and rendering of each page in the website to determine not only aspects of website content and layout, but also whether various content, such as third party objects or source code, execute as intended. Additional features include recording user input that may be required to progress past web pages where automated site mapping would ordinarily stall. The analysis system can identify various items of interest about each web page to the website owner, including web page parent/child relationships, as well as the extent to which the given page content is consistent with its metadata descriptions.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method of analyzing an unstructured document. The method receiving the unstructured document that includes a number of primitive graphic elements, each of which is defined as a single object in the unstructured document. The unstructured document has a drawing order that indicates the order in which the primitive graphic elements are drawn when the unstructured document is displayed. The method identifies positional relationships between successive primitive graphic elements in the drawing order. Based on the positional relationships, the method defines a single structural graphic element from several of the primitive graphic elements.

Abstract: In order to allow flexible output settings for individual pieces of output data, in a hot folder, names relating to pieces of output data (e.g., subfolder names or print data names) and pieces of output setting information are set in association with each other. Thus, a job ticket is generated using a piece of output setting information associated with a name relating to a piece of output data input to the hot folder.

Embodiments include recognizing, by the touchscreen computing device, finger motion selection gestures on a touchscreen of the touchscreen computing device; selecting, by the touchscreen computing device for each recognized finger motion selection gesture, a document page displayed on the touchscreen; recognizing, by the touchscreen computing device, a finger motion combination gesture on the touchscreen; combining, by the touchscreen computing device responsive to the finger motion combination gesture, the selected document pages into a single concatenated document page; and displaying, by the touchscreen computing device, the single concatenated document page.

Abstract: A method is presented for merging document metadata at a client computer. A document obtained from a server computer is opened by a user at the client computer. If the document does not include paragraph identifiers, a paragraph identifier is assigned to each paragraph in the document. When the document is opened by a second user at a second client computer, metadata for the document is received from the server computer. A determination is made whether to merge the metadata received from the server computer with current metadata for the document. When it is determined that the current metadata and the metadata received from the server computer should be merged, paragraph identifiers are adjusted in the document based on the metadata received from the server computer.

Abstract: Client devices capable of merged browsing, and a server for assisting merged browsing, are described herein. In various embodiments, client devices may receive suggestions of network content fragments to be merge browsed with network content being browsed by the user. The client device may then receive a user selection of fragment(s) and facilitate merged browsing of the fragment(s) with the network content. In some embodiments, the client device may facilitate a user in browsing first network content and in selecting a portion of the first network content. The client device may then facilitate the user in browsing second network content and in merged browsing the selected portion with the second network content. In various embodiments, the server may accept registrations of network content fragments, receive indications from client devices of network content being browsed, and assist in merged browsing the network content with one or more network content fragments.

Abstract: Methods for enforcing group oriented workflow requirements for multi-layered documents. Embodiments allow results of multi-layered operations to dictate the flow of tasks that occur on a multi-layered document. Flow is directed to roles and may be directed by the data values operated on in addition to multi-layered operation results. The system enables the workflow enabled creation and maintenance of multi-layered documents that minimize repeated data to ensure the highest possible data integrity when targeting a publication at multiple audiences. When a publication is changed and requires maintenance, use of a defined workflow for updating the publication ensures consistency in each publication. Embodiments may comprise performance metrics for monitoring and benchmarking publication processes.

For this purpose, the electronic filing system includes a style-sheet setting unit configured to set style sheet data in a storage unit, an input unit configured to input a document to be registered, a style-sheet acquisition unit configured to acquire style sheet data from the style sheet data set in the storage unit in which the input document is registered, and a conversion unit configured to convert the input document using the style sheet data acquired by the style-sheet acquisition unit. The electronic filing system further includes a reduced-image generation unit configured to generate a reduced image from the document converted by the conversion unit, and a registration unit configured to link the reduced image generated by the reduced-image generation unit to the input document.

Abstract: Methods and system to generate data associated with a medical report using voice inputs are described herein. In one example implementation, a computer-implemented method to automatically generate data associated with a medical report using voice inputs received during a first encounter includes receiving a voice input from a source and determining an identity of the source. Additionally, the method includes performing a speech-to-text conversion on the voice input to generate a text string representing the voice input and associating the text string with the identity of the source. Further, the example method includes identifying and selecting one or more keywords from the text string. The one or more keywords are associated with one or more data fields. Further still, the method includes populating the one or more data fields with the identified keywords according to values associated with the identified keywords and the identity of the source.

Abstract: An apparatus, method, and program product are provided for parsing a document. A match point tuple is passed to a parser instance. The match point tuple comprises a match point. The parser instance stream parses an XML stream. In response to a match point statement in the XML stream matching the match point expression in the match point tuple, the parser instance constructs a DOM instance comprising XML content matching the match point. In a sample embodiment, the match point tuple further comprises a filter, and the parser instance adds XML statements that pass the filter to the DOM instance and discards statements that do not pass the filter.

Abstract: A process for viewing a selected portion of a document on a mobile communication device without having to request multiple pages of the document contents containing document global properties applied to the selected part of the document, comprising marking pages of the document within a server, based on size required by the mobile device, associating properties and attributes of the selected portion with the pages, and transmitting the pages with the properties and attributes for display by the mobile device.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a keyword extraction apparatus includes a display, a first calculation unit, a scroll unit, a first generation unit, an extraction unit, a scoring unit and a second generation unit. The first calculation unit calculates a partial region indicating a part of the document displayed. The scroll unit scrolls the document to display other than the partial region in a document. The scoring unit calculates scores of the keywords in accordance with positions that the keywords occur within the document. The second generation unit generates a window for selecting the keywords in descending order of the scores from first keywords.

Abstract: Techniques for sharing content between portals. A producer portal may identify content to be shared with one or more consumer portals. One or more of the shared content objects may then be copied to a consumer portal as remote delta link objects. Changes or modifications to the source object at the producer portal are automatically reflected in the corresponding target remote delta link object on the consumer portal. Any modifications or customizations made to the remote delta link object at the consumer portal override those of the producer's source object. In this manner, changes made to the second object are reflected in the first object while preserving the changes/modifications made to the first object on the first portal.

Abstract: An authoring tool provides a storage receptacle for text components of graphics designs. In one embodiment, the storage receptacle is a computer readable media (e.g., a hard drive or memory). The storage receptacle is easily accessed from within the graphics authoring environment and allows for the text to be changed independently of the graphics authoring environment, for possible future insertion into graphics files. Once a text item from the storage receptacle has been inserted in a graphics file, a relationship is maintained between the graphics file and the text item in the receptacle. This relationship can then be used in many ways, in particular to keep the text in the graphics file and the text in the receptacle synchronized. The storage receptacle can be implemented as a database system.

Abstract: An image output apparatus including: an image processing section for processing an image; a printing section that prints the image; a display section that displays the image; an instruction section that allows a user to instruct execution of a print job, and execution of a display job; and a job control section that controls the jobs to start the execution of the print job or the display job in response to the instruction, wherein when the job control section receives instructions to start print jobs and/or display jobs, the job control section controls the jobs to register the print jobs and/or the display jobs in a queue and start these jobs in the order, and when an instruction for a display job in the queue is again received from the instruction section, the job control section controls the jobs to move the display job to the forefront of the queue.

A request received by a production service, along with the response generated by the production service, is forwarded to a shadow service. Any significant differences can be logged, reported on, or added to statistics for the new service being tested.

Abstract: A method involves generating a partially completed tax return based on basic user information without needing to obtain other user inputs through an extensive user interview. A list of simple and concise interview questions are generated or selected from an interview question collection based on the partially completed tax return to finalize the tax return. The method further involves using an inference engine to allow data collection at any time and in any order via specific, personalized questions geared toward completion of the tax return. Therefore the taxpayer spends time reviewing rather than preparing his or her tax documents.

Abstract: A document processing system for accurately and efficiently analyzing documents and methods for making and using same. Each incoming document includes at least one section of textual content and is provided in an electronic form or as a paper-based document that is converted into an electronic form. Since many categories of documents, such as legal and accounting documents, often include one or more common text sections with similar textual content, the document processing system compares the documents to identify and classify the common text sections. The document comparison can be further enhanced by dividing the document into document segments and comparing the document segments; whereas, the conversion of paper-based documents likewise can be improved by comparing the resultant electronic document with a library of standard phrases, sentences, and paragraphs. The document processing system thereby enables an image of the document to be manipulated, as desired, to facilitate its review.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for direct printing of multiple views of 3-D objects in a PDF file is described. When a PDF file containing 3-D object data is sent to a printer, without using an application or print driver, the controller of a printer generates and prints a plurality of views of the 3-D object based on pre-defined viewing angle settings. The printer controller opens the PDF file, converts the 3-D PDF data to PS data based on the viewing angle, performs raster image processing, prints the bitmap images corresponding to the viewing angle, and repeats the process for all viewing angles. The plurality of views may be printed on separate pages, or on one page in an N-in-1 format. More generally, the method applies to direct printing of files containing objects that are capable of providing multiple appearances, where multiple or desired appearances of the objects are automatically printed.

Movement of the emphasized area in the elongated thumbnail image assists the user with the selection of sections or pages of the document for printing. The operation of the assistant is personalizable for a particular user by setting of a sensitivity level and selection of relevant topics of interest. Some embodiments of the assistant are also capable of improved performance over time by both automatic and manual feedback. The assistant is usable with many popular electronic document formats.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems directed to facilitating secure, structured interactions between code modules executing within the context of a document processed by a user agent, such as a browser client, that implements a domain security model. In a particular implementation, a module connector script or object loaded into a base document discovers listener modules and sender modules corresponding to different origins or domains, and passes information between them. In this manner, a listener module may consume and use information from a sender module located on the same page simply by having an end-user add both modules to a web page without having to explicitly define any form of interconnection. Abstract: The synchronous semantic processing technique described herein provides the level of completeness of a document in real-time as a user is creating or editing the document and provides recommendations to the user to increase the level of completeness. In one embodiment, the level of completeness of a medical document, and the state of the components of the document that are used to determine level, are used to make recommendations to a user (e.g., a physician) to provide additional information for the components that determine the level, thereby increasing the level. The level of medical documentation can be represented by an Evaluation and Management (E&M) coding level, which is a U.S. standard defined to evaluate how comprehensive a medical document is. The E&M level is used to determine the completeness of the medical document and to make recommendations to the user to improve the quality and the completeness of the document.

According to the auto-clear function, set values associated with predetermined functions are reset to initial values when no input operation has been performed via the operating section over a predetermined time period, and the operating section is caused to display an operating screen associated with a predetermined function. Abstract: A system and method for displaying groups of cluster spines is provided. Groups of cluster spines are obtained. Each group includes one or more spines with one or more clusters each associated with at least one concept. Group concept score vectors are generated for each of the spine groups by aggregating the concepts for that spine group. The group concept score vectors for the spine groups are compared and those spine groups that are unique are identified. The unique spine groups are placed into a display by arranging the unique spine groups at equal distance angles around a center ring provided in the display.
