Abstract: Information about the context of electronic media may be extracted automatically. The extracted information may then be used to select ancillary services or applications that may be of interest to the user. The context information may be developed from ancillary information associated with the media, such as metadata or electronic programming guides. It may also be extracted from the media itself, including identification of image elements, audio elements, or other depicted features within the media in order to obtain information about what is being displayed.

Abstract: An electronic device includes an input unit, a storage unit to store a database that defines several menu item groups. Each menu item group includes several menu items that are associated with each other. A processor starts a learning mode in response to a user input from the input unit, and in the learning mode, the processor receives an user input relating to one or more menu items, determines one or more menu item groups based on the user input, and generates a learning menu based on the one or more menu item groups.

Abstract: A system for controlling a treatment device generates a graphical interface that visually prompts a user in a step-wise fashion to use the treatment device to perform a process of forming a pattern of lesions that extends both circumferentially and axially in different levels in a body region. The graphical interface displays for the user a visual record of the progress of the process from start to finish and guides the user so that so that individual lesions desired within a given level are all formed, and that a given level of lesions is not skipped.

Abstract: A product guidance system is described herein that provides consistent methods and processes to aggregate product guidance from different online (and potentially local) sources, to ensure that the guidance aggregation is done with proper quality criteria (e.g., content/author reputation), to define how guidance is aggregated and presented appropriately for the context (e.g., a novice user may see different UI experience and different content than an advanced user), and to specify how the guidance is delivered within the product surface itself. The system defines a consistent information asset type meta-model, applies a semantic approach and algorithms to aggregate guidance content from varying sources and deliver through consistent interfaces, and provides an asset and user interface composition model to present the retrieved information following flexible categorization and navigation schemes.

In one aspect, shape information is displayed in a graphical interface using a computer system and includes causing a display of an image on a display device with or more shapes, and causing a display of multiple labels on the display device. Each of the labels is associated with a different one of the displayed shapes, and the labels are derived from stored connectivity information for the one or more shapes describing the connections of the shapes.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for facilitating the usage of a static analysis based hinting system at user interface design time within a user interface development platform. The static analysis based hinting system enables a developer to identify and apply improvements that can be made to the design of a user interface while the developer is designing the user interface. User interface design hints that apply to user interface elements defined by the developer are identified. The user interface design hints provide recommendations for improving the design of corresponding user interface elements. These recommendations can be applied to modify the definition of a user interface element at design time including changing the type or property of a user interface element, adding or removing a property or other component of a user interface element, etc.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for providing help content related to a software application to a user. The technique involves receiving a first discussion element associated with a first user and including textual input related to a first software application and first contextual information related to the first software application. The technique further involves receiving second contextual information associated with a second user and related to the first software application, determining a measure of correlation between the first contextual information and the second contextual information, determining that the first discussion element should be transmitted to the second user based on the measure of correlation, and transmitting the first discussion element to the second user.

Abstract: System and method for editing a graphical program. One or more nodes are included in a graphical program in response to user input selecting the one or more nodes, where each node has a respective one or more terminals for receiving input to or providing output from the node. User input is received indicating a terminal on a first node of the one or more nodes to which a node is to be connected. One or more suggested graphical program elements to include in the graphical program are automatically presented based on the indicated terminal, where the one or more suggested graphical program elements are selectable by the user for inclusion in the graphical program.

Abstract: System and method for accessing properties of a pre-defined object in a graphical program (GP) operable to perform first functionality. A node icon is displayed in the GP and coupled to the pre-defined object in response to user input, and is associated with program instructions executable to only provide access to a plurality of properties corresponding to the object, and specifying configuration of the object, where the object is associated with a subset of the first functionality. Available properties of the object are displayed, and user input indicating the plurality of properties received. The GP is executed, including executing the property node to: receive input specifying modification of a property, and modify the property to configure the object to perform the subset of the first functionality; and/or to read the property from the pre-defined object, and provide the property to a graphical program element of the GP, e.g., for display.

Abstract: A context-sensitive process guidance system provides process guidance based on context data from a system used in performing the process. The system may be a work item tracking system or similar project management tool. Process guidance may provide information to a user performing actions related to a process. Context data may be derived from various sources, including the state of an application at the time of the request for process guidance, the user making the request and the role assigned to that user in the process, or the data displayed for the user who made the request. The context-sensitive process guidance system may display context-sensitive process guidance content and provide links to related process guidance content based on the context data.

Abstract: A method, system, and non-transitory computer readable medium to provide trigger-sensitive application help content to a user using a digital application. The method commences upon receiving an input application user interface, the input application user interface being encoded for display within a digital application context (e.g. on a computer screen or on a mobile device). Then, recoding the input application user interface to produce an output application user interface comprising one or more expandable screen devices added to the input application user interface. The user's progress (or lack thereof) is detected based on the user's interaction with the output application user interface page (e.g. on a computer screen or on a mobile device). At least one aspect of the method includes executing or otherwise interacting with a display protocol, the display protocol comprising detecting a trigger event, and revealing the expandable screen device to display an expanded screen device.

Abstract: Techniques for increasing accessibility of touch-screen devices are disclosed. In one aspect, container regions on a touch-sensitive user interface of a touch screen device are defined. A touch event corresponding to a location on the user interface is received, and it is determined that the location corresponds to a particular container region. When another touch event is received, content is determined according to a context of the particular container region. The content is then presented. In another aspect, data specifying locations of user interface items on a user interface is received. The data is modified to enlarge an area for a particular item. A touch input event corresponding to a particular location on the user interface is received. It is determined that the location is within the enlarged area for the item, and input is provided to an application indicating that the item was selected.

Abstract: A unique monitoring system and method is provided that involves monitoring user activity in order to facilitate managing and optimizing the utilization of various system resources. In particular, the system can monitor user activity, detect when users need assistance with their specific activities, and identify at least one other user that can assist them. Assistance can be in the form of answering questions, providing guidance to the user as the user completes the activity, or completing the activity such as in the case of taking on an assigned activity. In addition, the system can aggregate activity data across users and/or devices. As a result, problems with activity templates or activities themselves can be more readily identified, user performance can be readily compared, and users can communicate and exchange information regarding similar activity experiences. Furthermore, synchronicity and time-sensitive scheduling of activities between users can be facilitated and improved overall.

Abstract: An object-oriented product configuration system generally includes a model tool for modeling a particular product line and a runtime tool for making the modeled information available to one or more external software applications. More specifically, the model tool enables a modeler to create a ProductModel object, which is an automatically populating electronic file containing all of the necessary information about a particular product line. Once the ProductModel is created, the runtime tool provides an external application with an interface for accessing and utilizing the information. Thus, a single source can deploy useful information to various types of software applications.

Abstract: A context sensitive information management system and method for use in a system comprising a number of applications each able to display information in response to a user input and a contextual coprocessor. It includes: (i) receiving one of at least an acceptance input and a rejection input from a user in relation to content presented to the user; (ii) in response to an acceptance input, rendering the presented content, or in response to a rejection input, selecting fresh content for presentation; and, (iii) repeating steps (i) and (ii) until a acceptance input is received. Content is selected in dependence on a associated probability associated with that content. The probability is increased in response to an acceptance input, the increase being determined in part on a measure of a predicted reduction in user satisfaction that would be associated with an additional rejection input.

Abstract: An ambient help application selects and displays learning resources to an end-user of a software application that are relevant to the current activities of the end-user in the software application. The ambient help application selects the learning resources based on computed relevance scores of each learning resource and displays the learning resources in a dedicated help space. The learning resources may include video- and text-based instructional information, and may be sized and positioned in the help space according to relevance score.

Abstract: User interaction is provided for a medical imaging system. The user interacts with the display rather than programmed buttons. The context between the user input and the display, such as identifying user selection of a bottom edge of a displayed image, is determined. The imaging system is controlled based on the context, such as altering the depth of imaging as the user drags the selected bottom edge up or down on the screen.

Abstract: An electronic device and a method for providing an extended user interface in an electronic device are provided. The electronic device comprises a user interface and a display configured to display data objects. The device is configured to detect selection of a data object on the display, detect dragging of the selected data object to a border of the display and to detect an effort to drag the object over the border in a given direction outside the display. Abstract: System and method for debugging a program. A graphical user interface (GUI) displays source code for the program in a first GUI element, and first user input is received to the first GUI element indicating an expression, e.g., including one or more one or more variables, constants, macros, and/or operators, in the source code. A value of the expression is displayed in a tooltip in response to the first user input. Second user input is received to the tooltip modifying the value, thereby specifying a new value, and the expression in the program is set to the new value. The program continues execution in accordance with the new value of the expression. The tooltip includes a first portion, e.g., context sensitive control, displaying the value and to receive the second user input modifying the value, and a second portion, e.g., text indicator, displaying non-editable information related to the expression.

Each page is separately displayable in the dialog. According to exemplary embodiments, a dynamically alterable summary of the attribute fields and values is included on a portion of the first page of the dialog. The attribute fields and values included in the summary are arranged into groups. A first group includes the attribute fields and values displayable on the first page of the dialog, and a second group includes the attribute fields and values displayable on the second page of the dialog. A first software link is provided between the second group and the second page of the dialog to provide automated access to the second page via the second group.

Abstract: A dynamic cursor for a computer graphical user interface changes according to the processing state of applications over which the cursor is located, or with respect to an operating system element. A normal cursor is displayed when either the operating system element, or an application over which the cursor is located, can be accessed in a normal manner. A standard wait cursor is displayed over busy applications that require a user to wait until interacting with the application, when the application is active in the foreground of the computer system. When the application is busy and operating in the background, a hybrid wait cursor is displayed that indicates to the user the busy state of the application and the user's ability to interact with operating system elements or other applications regardless of this busy state. Other forms of hybrid cursors are disclosed that indicate the results of a drag operation, and quantitative data pertaining to objects being dragged.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for search query extension are disclosed. A particular method retrieves a set of queries related to a search query from a query repository. The search query includes one or more search words and at least one search word is included in each query in the set of queries. A set of context words based on one or more computer-readable files accessible to a computer is generated and an intersection is calculated. The intersection is based on the set of queries and the set of context words. An extended search query is generated based on the calculated intersection and the search query.
