Abstract: A computer-implemented method for constructing a profile for a target user is disclosed. The method comprises monitoring electronic communications across a network to identify at least one electronic communication that identifies a target user as an intended message recipient, extracting metadata from content associated with the at least one electronic communication; and constructing a user profile for the target user on the basis of the extracted metadata. It is assumed that the message senders send their messages, including associated content, to a given target user with the belief that the content is of some interest to the target user on the basis of some knowledge regarding the target user's personality, preferences, tastes and the like. In this manner, a profiling entity may indirectly construct a profile of the target user based on the content sent by one or more message senders to the target user.

Abstract: A method and system for security processing of a network data stream. Threat-related statistics are collected and the network data stream is selectively checked based on the statistics data identifying the areas of the stream where the threats had been previously detected. A system for processing a network data stream includes at least one network Intrusion Detection System (IDS) for checking a pre-determined portion of the data stream for presence of threats. The IDS collects threat-related statistics and provides it to statistics database. A unit for determining areas of the data stream to be checked queries the statistics database for determining or changing the current checked area based on the received statistics. The information about changes in the areas of the data stream to be checked is provided to the IDS, which checks the selected areas of the data stream.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods are disclosed for displaying a physical view of a monitored device. The apparatus for displaying a physical view of a device is provided with a plurality of modules configured to functionally execute the steps of displaying a physical representation of a device, generating a plurality of grid lines in association with a predetermined portion of the physical representation of the device, and displaying an icon configured to convey information regarding a status of the device, wherein the icon is displayed within an area defined by the plurality of grid lines. These modules in the described embodiments include a rendering module, a grid module, and a status module.

The available components include available hardware components and available software components that operate on the available hardware components. The available components and dependencies between the available components are graphically displayed in a map of the distributed computing system. A plurality of undeployed services is also graphically displayed. A selection of one of the plurality of undeployed services and a selection of one of the available components is received. The selected undeployed service is deployed to the selected available component.

A device capable of implementing the method is provided. The number of carousel levels visualized on a visualization device can be adjusted dynamically, and the visualization of a focus becomes more prominent, and relationships between nodes at each level of the tree data visualization get more apparent.

In one embodiment, a list of discovered workspaces is maintained on a user device. Shortcuts for resources corresponding to each respective one of the discovered workspaces are integrated into a user interface of the user device. A request to access one of the resources contained in one of the discovered workspaces is received. Responsive to receiving the request, a connection from the user device to one or more resource hosts containing the resources corresponding to the indicated one of the discovered workspaces is opened. Access from the user device to the resources stored on the resource host(s) corresponding to the indicated one of the discovered workspaces is enabled by presenting shortcuts for resources corresponding to the discovered workspaces as though they were local resources.

Abstract: A network diagnostic component that is placed in-line between two nodes in a network. The network diagnostic component receives a low speed signal pattern from the first node for communication with the second node; records the low speed signal pattern in a memory; writes one or more markers specifying information about the low speed signal pattern in the memory; interprets the one or more markers to ascertain the type and duration of the low speed signal pattern; and displays a graphical representation of the low speed signal pattern based on the interpretation of the one or more markers.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described that provide a Heat Flow Model (HFM) graph modeling methodology. Embodiments automatically translate formal HVAC system descriptions from a Building Information Model (BIM) into HFM graphs, and compile the graphs into executable FDD systems. During an engineering phase, a user interface is used to enter parameters, conditions, and switches not found in the BIM. During a runtime phase, real-time data from an HVAC control system is input to the generated FDD system (HFM graph) for fault detection and diagnosis.

Abstract: Methods disclosed permit compositing operations to be performed on images using an associated mask even in situations where the image and the mask differ in size. In some embodiments, image and mask data may be specified as a soft mask image in a page description language such as PDF. Scaling operations may be performed on the image, mask, or on both the image and mask when they differ in size. Compositing operations may be performed on the scaled image and/or mask after they have been scaled to the same size. Composting operations in situations where the original mask and image are of the same size are not affected by scaling operations.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for presenting images in a multiple display environment. The present invention includes a computer-readable medium with instructions for receiving from a primary user a selected portion from a primary screen, where the selected portion is one of an image and a portion of a program. The selected portion is then displayed on one or more secondary screens. The primary user is presented with a tool to compose the secondary screen, and can also see the secondary user's input to the system. The invention also includes dynamically updating the secondary screen in response to changes in the program that result in a change in the display on the primary screen. Also disclosed is a multi-screen laptop computer ideally suited for multi-screen presentations, and a dual-monitor display device which can be easily connected to a computer to facilitate multi-screen presentations.

Presentation of at least one of the subsequent showings of the segment of media content is prevented when detected in the at least one media content stream.

The complete interactive radio program is transmitted to participant clients over the wide area network.
