The operated-side information equipment includes a view region storing unit for storing view information regarding a view region correlated with an window, a screen information processing unit for generating an image to be displayed on an operating-side display unit as an initial state based on the view information, a communication unit, and a control information processing unit for operating an application. The operating-side information equipment includes a communication unit, a view region storing unit for storing the view information, a screen information processing unit for displaying images on multiple display regions in high to low display priority order, and a control information processing unit for transmitting application operating information to the operated-side information equipment.

Abstract: The client's screen includes a shared area that displays a portion of the server's screen information. The present invention performs a remote event from the client upon the server by causing an input event that is instigated upon the shared area thereof to be replayed upon the server. When this circumstance occurs, the client detects the instruction for the transfer of data to the shared area thereof, requests the transfer of data from the server, receives the data that is thereby transferred from the server, and develops the data thus received to the client's memory space. Upon receipt of the request for transfer of data from the client, the server converts the data that is stored within the server's own memory space into a state wherein the data thus stored is capable of being transferred, and transmits the data thus converted to the client.

Abstract: A user-activatable dashboard (also referred to as a unified interest layer) contains any number of user interface elements, referred to herein as “widgets,” for quick access by a user. In response to a command from a user, the dashboard is invoked and the widgets are shown on the screen. The user can activate the dashboard at any time, causing the dashboard to temporarily replace the existing user interface display on the user's screen. Once the dashboard has been activated, the user can interact with any or all of the widgets, and can configure the dashboard by adding, deleting, moving, or configuring individual widgets as desired. When the user wishes to return to the normal user interface he or she was working with, the user issues a command causing the dashboard to be dismissed. Once the dashboard has been dismissed, the previous user interface state is restored, allowing the user to resume normal interactions with the operating system.

Abstract: A user interface extension allows data entry into a marking machine user interface field from an electronic device, such as a PDA, attached to the marking machine via compatible communications ports. The marking machine includes a UI field into which data must be entered, the user lets the machine know that data will come from the electronic device, and the machine begins monitoring its communications ports for the data. The user enters or selects data to be transmitted from the electronic device, then indicates that the data is ready to be sent, at which point the electronic device transmits the data to the machine via a communications port of the electronic device.

A server automatically downloads software updates over a satellite link to a client after such upgrades become available at the server without requiring interaction with a user. Similarly, corrupted software is automatically replaced by the client first automatically detecting if a corrupted state exists in local software or data using a checksum technique. If such corruption is found, the client automatically connects over the Internet to a server that contains a replacement for the corrupted program or data. Abstract: A collaborative phone-based file exchange technique that wirelessly synchronizes a user's work context with his or her mobile phone and makes this context readily available and sharable in collaborative situations. When the user is away from their desk, collaboration with others is possible by sharing/downloading between the mobile phone and a paired PC, which may be a colleague's computer or a meeting room workstation/computer. When the user returns to their office, any recently downloaded files are automatically synchronized back to their office PC.

Abstract: Improved systems and methods to navigate, browse, search and/or playback digital media assets (e.g., media items) hosted on a media server are disclosed. One embodiment pertains to a user interface arrangement, such as a hierarchical menu system, that facilitates navigation, browsing and playing of media items remotely stored on a media server. The user interface arrangement can present and permit navigation of categorized media items. The user interface arrangement can also present and permit navigation of media items related to another media item (such as a media item that has been selected and played). Another embodiment relates to progressive searching of remote media items from a search user interface. The search user interface can, but need not, be part of the user interface arrangement. The user interface arrangement and/or the search user interface can be presented on a display device associated with a client device.

In one example, the information is stored remotely from a device used to access the information. A customized settings management user interface can be designed by an end user and can be used later during the settings configuration process for one or more intelligent electronics devices. Preferably, the customized settings management user interface will be tailored to meet application-specific objectives and to provide for a relatively more efficient settings configuration process.
