  • Patent number: 9354800
Abstract: In an electronic file system, preview information is provided to the user during a drag operation of a selected object onto a target object. The information indicates what type(s) of action is to be taken should the selected object be dropped onto the target object. The action(s) to be taken may depend upon the type of the selected object and/or the type of the target object. For example, where the selected object is an item and the target object is a persisted auto-list, the action may include adding, removing, or modifying one or more properties of the selected object to conform to one or more criteria defined by the persisted auto-list. Also, numerical feedback may be provided to the user where multiple objects are selected. For example, where seven objects are selected, the textual number “7” may appear next to the cursor.

Abstract: A computer software system is disclosed for single step coordination between software applications. A monitoring application automatically identifies a target application and presents a prompting window, such that if possible (but not necessarily) it appears to be attached to a side of the target window. Clicking a control in the prompting window automatically activates a secondary application, and automatically transfers information from the target application to the secondary application. Target desktop windows can be identified by their window captions and target HTML windows by their URL addresses. Controls on prompting windows can activate multiple secondary applications and/or different secondary application modes. Information can be obtained from a target application by reading a file stored for that purpose by the target application, by interprocess communication, or by screen scraping.

Abstract: When a user touches an icon, a control unit displays pointers for enabling anchors to be selected in directions extending radially from the icon. The pointers are displayed while the user is touching the icon or when a short time has elapsed after a finger has been separated from the icon. A touchable region is displayed at each position in the vicinity of the icon in each of four directions indicated by the pointers. For example, when a touch region is touched using a finger different from the finger touching the display position of the icon, a link corresponding to the touch region is selected.

  • Patent number: 9047099
Abstract: A system and method for synchronous operation of linked command objects in a software application. The software application manages data objects in a number of contexts. Each context manages a number of command objects. Each command object operates on data objects in its context. To support synchronous operations that affect the state of data objects in more than one context, command objects are linked to each other. When a command object is executed, its context identifies a command object linked to the executed command object and initiates the execution of the linked command object. This synchronization allows for synchronous undo and redone operations. The delete states of the command objects are also synchronized. When one command object is deleted the command object linked thereto is also deleted, thereby preventing the linked command object from being independently undone resulting in an inconsistent state of the contexts.

Abstract: In a first step of a two step content selection operation, initial content can be selected by detecting movement of a content selection object with respect to a computing device. The selection area can be calculated based on the object movement that is detected. The content within the selection area can be selected and displayed in a second display area overlaying the original content. The initial content can be copied into the second display area. All or part of the initial content can be enlarged, enabling the second step of the selection operation in which a subset of the initial content is selected.
