Abstract: Technologies are described herein for implementing a cross-browser drag-and-drop library. The drag-and-drop library creates a draggable object corresponding to a drag source element and a droppable object corresponding to a drop target element defined in a webpage. The draggable object and droppable object are each assigned a link key value. A user-defined data structure populated with data regarding the drag source element may also be assigned to the draggable object. A browser event indicating a drag-and-drop operation between the drag source and the drop target is intercepted, and the drag-and-drop library determines whether the link key value assigned to the corresponding draggable and droppable objects are the same. If the link key values are the same, the drag-and-drop library generates an event associated with the droppable object to facilitate an application-related operation associated with the drag-and-drop operation using the data in the user-defined data structure.

Abstract: A method of managing icons is used on a screen of an electronic device which displays a first icon and a second icon. While dragging the first icon, the first and second icons are displayed on a first region of the screen and a group symbol is displayed on a second region of the screen. The first icon is dragged onto the group symbol and then released for creating a new group which contains the first icon. A group icon associated with the new group is then displayed on the second region of the screen.

In some implementations, a method includes associating a parent and child component in a source application. Input adding the parent component from the source application window to an application window of a target application is received. It is determined that the output of the child component is connected with the input of the parent component, and then computer-readable instructions associated with the parent component and the child component are inserted into the target application.

Abstract: Methods, program products, and systems for displaying context-aware charts are described. In context-aware charts, content of a chart can reflect a context of the chart. A charting object can be defined using a data series. The system can dynamically determine what subset of a data source should be used for the data series, depending on where the chart object is placed in a layout, form or other display area. Therefore, a single chart definition can be used to display various charts based on the context of the chart. When a chart object is moved from one data area to a new data area, the system can change the source of the data series such that the data series of the chart corresponds to a different subset of the data source.

Abstract: A method of setting alert thresholds in the context of a real-time dashboard chart. An application program displays a graphical user interface (GUI) and dynamically updates a chart of real-time event data. The chart includes an event threshold bar displayed concurrently with the real-time event data. If the real-time event data has exceeded an event threshold value that corresponds to a position of the event threshold bar, the application program executes a pre-defined response function.
