Abstract: Disclosed are methods, computer-readable media and systems for locking an orientation of content on a display to prevent automatic and inadvertent orientation changes. An orientation lock module receives input from a user and presents a lock control for a pre-determined time. When locked, orientation of content on the display remains unchanged regardless of motion. When unlocked, orientation of content on the display may automatically change in response to detecting a motion.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for consolidating Web pages displayed in multiple browsers at a computer processing device are provided. A method includes generating an information file in response to initiation of a browser instance and creating a file record for each web page accessed during the browser instance. The file record includes session history data for each web page. The method also includes consolidating each of the file records from the information file with other file records from another information file created in response to another browser instance. The method further includes displaying a single view of browser activity corresponding to the browser instance and the other browser instance resulting from the consolidation.

Abstract: Approaches for synchronizing history data across a virtualized web browser. When a user instructs a virtualized web browser, executing on a host operating system, to display a web page, a host module executing on the host operating system may instruct a guest module executing within a particular virtual machine to retrieve the web page. The host module may provide to the guest module history data for the virtualized web browser. History data describes browsing history for the virtualized web browser, either in the current instance or for previous instances. The guest module performs operations in accordance with the history data. When the host module receives the screen data content from the guest module, the host module instructs the virtualized web browser to display the web page using the screen data content.

Abstract: A method of outputting background content, which includes outputting a complex area by outputting a background content area in which a background content designated as a start content is output and outputting a function selection area to the background content area, the function selection area including items for selecting at least one specific function supported by a terminal, receiving an input signal for removing the function selection area, and outputting a background screen including only the background content area according to the received input signal for removing the function selection area.

Abstract: Provided is a method and server for providing a button configuration of a toolbar specific to an individual domain address in an electronic device in which the toolbar is installed. The toolbar button management method for automatically configuring a domain-specific button may include obtaining a domain address through a web browser, determining whether the domain address is preset, changing a button configuration of the toolbar automatically based on button configuration information when the domain address is determined to be preset, and displaying the changed button configuration of the toolbar.

Abstract: A method of controlling a mobile terminal includes displaying, on a display module of the mobile terminal, an operation screen on which a plurality of icons including a first icon and a second icon are arranged, displaying at least one pocket area on one side of the operation screen, receiving, on the display module, a dragging input for dragging the first icon into the at least one pocket area, wherein the first icon disappears into the pocket area as a result of the dragging input, and displaying the second icon at a location where the disappeared first icon was originally displayed.

Abstract: A multi-orientation mobile communication device having a first button positioned at the first side of a device at a first relative positioning with respect to a second button on the first side and a third button positioned at a second side of the body at the first relative positioning with respect to a fourth button positioned on the second side. The device also includes instructions causing a processor to perform operations comprising determining that an orientation of the device has changed and reassigning, responsively, button characteristics based on relative positioning of the first through fourth buttons following the re-orientation.

Abstract: A system and method and computer program product for paint color recommendation. The system obtains measures of an environment to be painted and trains a learned model to input data received from customers including data representing each customer's initial color paint and pigment selection, and one or more of: a customer perceptual, a customer context, and environment measure (P/C/E data) to generate a sparse matrix. One or more paint vendors may then use the generated sparse matrix to determine a color pigment recommendation from a pigments color space for a customer. From a user selected color/pigment, and using the learned model, the system maps the selection, together with the user's P/C/E data back to the color/pigments space. User feedback representing a degree of satisfaction that the recommended color pigment applied to the user environment has matched the user's initial color paint and color pigment selection is elicited.

Abstract: Multimedia content of exchangeable storage media, such as optical discs, may be extended by bonus content that is downloaded via Internet connection and stored on a local storage device. An improved method for integration of different menu items relating to on-disc content and downloaded content provides flexibility and a simple, low cost solution. The method for integration of downloaded bonus content into a menu comprises defining one or more placeholders within a menu, determining a storage location or naming convention for bonus content, declaring for each placeholder an attribute providing a unique association to a specific type of bonus content, providing a button image, detecting presence of bonus content data, replacing the associated placeholder by the associated button image and enabling an associated action to be taken when said button is selected.

Abstract: Menu items are displayed on a screen, for example in the form of user-activatable on-screen buttons. A root menu is displayed, including a “more” button that allows the user to navigate to one or more sub-menus. Each menu can contain function buttons, menu buttons, or any combination thereof. Function buttons provide direct access to functions. Menu buttons provide access to sub-menus, which may be provided in a hierarchical arrangement. In some sub-menus, a menu title button replaces the “more” button and provides access to a previously displayed menu. The user can activate a displayed function button in any menu or sub-menu to perform an action associated with the function button. In one aspect, all menus are displayed in the same area of the screen. When a menu is to be displayed, it replaces the previously displayed menu.

Abstract: A sensing technique using a capacitance touch sensor as a user interface is provided. An apparatus for sensing the movement of fingers using a multi-touch sensor includes a touch determination module which determines whether a user has actually touched a touch sensor comprising one or more touch points with at least one of his/her fingers, a clustering module which groups a plurality of electrodes arrayed in the touch sensor into one or more clusters according to a set of standards if the touch determination module determines that the user has actually touched the touch sensor with at least one of his/her finger, a position value calculation module which calculates a finger position value indicating the location of the finger of the user that touches the touch sensor for each of the clusters, and a movement information detection module which detects movement information of the finger of the user that touches the touch sensor using information regarding variations over time in the finger position value.

The content page may include a content portion and various other portions. The content page may be configured in a first state. Code configured to transform the content page from the first state to a second state may be received. The second state may place a greater focus on the content portion and produce a reduced focus on the other portions than the first state. The code may be inserted into the content page. A user instruction to enable the FOC mode may be received. Response to receiving the user instruction to enable the FOC mode, the content page may be transformed from the first state to the second state in accordance with the code.

Abstract: A time based touch screen input recognition system detects a touch on a touch screen display. The system determines a length of the touch and identifies a function corresponding to the length of touch. The system causes a processing device to implement the corresponding function.

The method according to an embodiment includes displaying, on a screen of the display unit, a first image including a plurality of items; receiving a selection of at least one item among the plurality of displayed items; indicating, on the first image, the at least one selected item as selected; while the at least one selected item is indicated as selected, receiving a user input for executing an operation that involves the screen to display an image different from the first image; executing the operation according to the user input, the executing step including displaying, on the screen, a second image associated with the operation; and after the operation is executed, re-displaying, on the screen, the first image having one or more of the at least one selected item as still selected.

Underneath a row of top-level functionality tabs, functionalities controls associated with a given top-level functionality tab are presented in logical groupings. Selection of a particular tab switches modes of the user interface to present controls for functionalities associated with the selected tab.

Abstract: A video processing system adaptively generates and processes volume/file structure and navigation data of different data format and converts data between different formats for decoding, recording and other applications. The system processes the volume/file structure and navigation data in distinct modes including (a) pre-processing, (b) contemporaneous and (c) post-processing modes. In addition, the system provides navigation information supporting navigation through different images of one or more video programs by parsing encoded packetized data representative of a sequence of individual images to determine parameters to support navigation through the sequence of individual images. The determined parameters are formatted into a predetermined data structure and incorporated into a pre-formed navigation data field.

Abstract: A method and apparatus which efficiently inputs characters through a touch screen in a mobile communication terminal is provided. The method, for inputting characters through a touch screen in a mobile communication terminal, includes displaying a virtual keyboard including a plurality of keyboard keys on the touch screen in response to a character input request, inputting an input signal through the touch screen; and inputting a corresponding character, if the input signal is a click signal. If the input signal is a drag signal, the virtual keyboard is moved. Therefore, the character input method and apparatus display a virtual keyboard that is greater than the touch screen and thus reduce the user character input errors.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a user interface system and method for programming a schedule of a programmable device. The system comprises processor means and a display unit coupled to the processor means, whereby the processor means is configured to provide a graphical display on the display unit for displaying a time select region for programming at least one time period for the schedule. The time select region is displayed on the display unit as a dial (350) divided into a plurality of segments and each segment represents a period of time in a day, such as fifteen minutes, for an operating parameter, such as a temperature setting for the device. Abstract: Methods and systems for a disabled user compliant video player for an end-to-end streaming web video solution affording accessibility for disabled users, including blind users and those with partial or poor vision, colorblind users, deaf users and those limited to only keyboard/voice input. Another embodiment of the present invention is directed to systems and methods for real-time creation and modification of specialized media players, to be used as stand-alone applications or as embedded data display applications.

Abstract: A user may discover and navigate among hyperlinks through the use of a keyboard. For example, a user may press a tab key to discover and navigate to a first hyperlink that is part of a hypertext document. The first hyperlink is, in response, given focus and a focus shape is drawn around the text or graphics for the hot region of the hyperlink. If the user again presses the tab key, the next hyperlink is given focus and a focus shape (i.e., an outline that surrounds the next hyperlink) is drawn around the next hyperlink. A user may also tab to a placeholder for an image in order to make a decision whether the image should be downloaded or not.

Abstract: A system and method is provided to display and interact with a plurality of items with text(s) and/or image(s) in a curve shaped area on a touch screen of an electronic device. In this invention, “finger” refers to either a human being finger or a stylus pen. Users may use a finger to vertically scroll through a curve items list to see all items that may not be once displayed on the touch screen with a limited size. Also, users may use a finger to tap a specific item to highlight and select it. Additionally, users may use a finger to swipe leftward or rightward a particular item. Furthermore, users may use 2 fingers to squeeze 2 different items, and all other items sandwiched by these 2 items if applicable, towards each other. Finally, the described technique can be used in an electronic device with keyboard and/or mouse, and users may use keyboard and/or mouse instead of finger to vertically scroll through a curve items list and select a specific item.

Abstract: A method of facilitating the self-administration of a directory of available modules on a group's syndicated customizable content document or start page is presented. The method includes presenting an initial list of modules to an administrator of a group, enabling the administrator to identify module selection information that identifies criteria for inclusion and/or exclusion of one or more modules in a directory, and storing the module selection information identified by the administrator. When a user of the group accesses a customized content document, the user is presented with a modified list of available modules based on the module selection information. Using this method, the administrator is capable of excluding modules from a global list, including only a specific subset of modules, or a combination of both. A system of carrying out the method is also presented.

Abstract: The present technology may provide data visualization with the capability to interactively select the orientation of one or more axis used to display data. Data to be visualized is accessed by a data visualization application. The data may be structured or unstructured, filtered and analyzed. The accessed data may be displayed through an interface of the visualization application for a user. The coordinate system for displaying the data may also be displayed. A user may orient an axis of the coordinate system by providing input within a graphics portion of an interface rather than navigating to a control button or other portion of the interface provided by the visualization application. The input may be associated with a particular axis. For example, to move a particular axis from its current position to a vertical position, the axis may be selected within the graphical portion of the interface using a cursor.

Abstract: A system and method for providing an easy-to-use interface for verifying semantic tags in a steering application in order to generate a natural language grammar. The method includes obtaining user responses to open-ended steering questions, automatically grouping the user responses into groups based on their semantic meaning, and automatically assigning preliminary semantic tags to each of the groups. The user interface enables the user to validate the content of the groups to ensure that all responses within a group have the same semantic meaning and to add or edit semantic tags associated with the groups. The system and method may be applied to interactive voice response (IVR) systems, as well as customer service systems that can communicate with a user via a text or written interface.
