Patent number: 9734653Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing one or more elongated coin souvenirs in a single payment transaction embossed with any or all available images. A user interface displays the available images and instructions on how to operate the apparatus. Once a user makes a selection and completes a payment transaction, the apparatus begins to press and emboss coins with chosen image or images. If multiple elongated coins are purchased, an electronic control system causes a delivery of a first coin and causes a pressing mechanism to elongate and emboss the first image onto the coin. Upon completion of this action, a delivery of a second coin to the pressing mechanism is impressed with the next image. These steps are then be repeated until all of the images purchased by the user are impressed onto coins and delivered to the user.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2015Date of Patent: August 15, 2017Inventor: Alexander William Hughson

Patent number: 9010165Abstract: Embodiments of the invention comprise forming a billet from molten steel and hot rolling the billet to reduce the cross sectional area of the billet. Thereafter, the billet is hot rolled into a lead pass bar having a cross-sectional area comprising a reduced width dimension located adjacent to the center longitudinal axis of the bar. In one embodiment of the invention, the billet can be formed into a lead pass bar having a cross-sectional area in the shape of an hourglass or peanut by feeding the billet through a first set of rolls. Patent number: 6604457Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for the embossing of a sheet of flexible graphite material between a pair of embossing rollers. The embossing rollers include a primary embossing roller and a backup roller. The primary embossing roller has an embossing pattern defined thereon. One or both of the rollers include a raised stabilization area adjacent a periphery of the embossing pattern. The raised stabilization area preferably has a roughened outer surface for better gripping the sheet of flexible graphite material. The raised stabilization areas apply a stabilizing force to the sheet adjacent the periphery of the embossing pattern, thereby limiting egress of the material laterally away from the embossing pattern. The roughened surfaces increase the grip of the raised areas upon the sheet, thus aiding in pulling the sheet between the rollers and also aiding in the application of lateral stabilization forces to the sheet.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2001Date of Patent: August 12, 2003Assignee: GrafTech Inc.Inventor: Jeremy H. Patent number: 5934128Abstract: The present invention has the object of increasing the heat exchanging performance of heat transfer tubes having grooved inner surfaces. In order to achieve this object, the heat transfer tubes having grooved inner surfaces according to the present invention have fins which are formed consecutively in a circumferential direction on the inner surface of a metallic tube. The inner surface of the metallic tube is divided into regions R1.about.R4 in the circumferential direction. The inclination angle .alpha. with respect to the axis of the heat transfer tube of the fins 2 in odd-numbered regions when counting from one of the regions is 10.about.25.degree., and the inclination angle .beta. with respect to the axis of the heat transfer tube of the fins 2 in even-numbered regions when counting from the region is -10.about.-25.degree.. The pitch of the fins 2 is 0.3.about.0.4 mm, the height of the fins from the inner circumferential surface of the metallic tube is 0.15.about.0.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1998Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Assignee: Mitsubishi Shindoh Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masayoshi Takiura, Seizo Masukawa, Haruo Kohno, Shunroku Sukumoda

Patent number: 5865051Abstract: Procedure and apparatus for the optimized manufacture of coil springs on automatic spring winding machines. It is the object of the present invention to offer both a procedure and an apparatus by which even in case of fluctuating values of the wire parameters high accuracies during the spring manufacture are guaranteed and simultaneously the scrap is minimized. The solution to this problem is that prior to the winding the wire parameters are determined and the measuring results are used directly for the adjustment of the position of the winding pins or winding rollers and/or the pitch wedge, and that the wire between the uncoiling device and the guiding assembly forms a loop whereby the lateral deflection of this wire loop is measured by a recognition unit and the uncoiling device carries out an additional movement controlled by the recognition unit.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1997Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Assignee: Wafios Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5644940Abstract: A portable slitter for selectively roll slitting rib forming or perforating sheet metal workpieces and having a beam-type frame, a pair of spaced thin walled and light weight rotary torque tube roll shafts mounted in the frame and supporting the work rolls, and a plurality of pairs of opposed stabilizing support blocks disposed between the shafts and the associated frame beams and providing further strength to the shafts by functioning as intermediate span shaft journal supports carrying the roll work loads imposed on shafts directly into the frame beams. The bearing members can be readily removed and adjusted longitudinally of the shafts without taking the frame apart. The slitter can be readily manually transported to the work site because it has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is light in overall weight. The slitter has substantial operational strength and improved work roll registry and alignment under continuous and/or adverse on-site operating conditions.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1994Date of Patent: July 8, 1997Assignee: Tapco International CorporationInventors: Arthur B. Patent number: 5483811Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for refining the domain wall spacing of a grain-oriented silicon steel sheet by mechanical scribing using a segmented anvil roller and a scribing roll. The segments of the anvil roll are arranged side by side along an arbor. The arbor carries inflatable bladder ribs along the length of the arbor to provide uniform contact pressure to the strip during scribing at the opposite side of the strip by the scribing roll.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1995Date of Patent: January 16, 1996Assignee: Allegheny Ludlum CorporationInventor: Robert F. Patent number: 5471731Abstract: An improved one-sided embossing process for manufacturing low-fat non-stick frying cookware is provided. The process provides a textured cooking surface free of sharp edges which increases the useful life of a non, stick coating applied thereto. The embossed cooking surface of the resulting frying device comprises a series of wave-like grooves embossed in the surface of the pan. The wave-like pattern of each groove is one-half G cycle out of phase with its neighboring adjacent grooves to form an alternating pattern of outwardly extending lands and inwardly extending roots. A raised portion or elevated surface is provided on the cooking surface disposed between the outwardly extending lands. The elevated surface is the primary cooking surface and is further the location of the inevitable initial wearing of the non-stick material. The remaining non-stick material, disposed in the grooves and between the roots is not subject to abrasive action and wears at a substantially slower rate.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1994Date of Patent: December 5, 1995Assignee: Anchor Hocking CorporationInventor: Harold L.
