  • Patent number: 6442989
Abstract: In a sizing rolling method carried out by installing at least 3 sets of 4-roll rolling mills in series, a central angle &thgr;1 of the perfect circle forming section of each rolling roll in a first path is set to less than 15°. The central angle &thgr;3 is set to at least 45° in a third path and the central angle &thgr;2 is set to at least 30° in a second path B. The groove of each rolling roll is arranged such that each escape section is composed of the tangential line of an arc formed by the perfect circle forming section. A roller guide having four guide rollers is installed on the inlet side of the second path and the free surface of a workpiece is held and guided by the guide rollers. An angle &agr; of the V-shaped groove of each guide roller is set similar to the angle (90°+&thgr;1) between straight lines forming the escape section of the adjacent rolling rolls in the first path. With this technology, even if a wire has a diameter of 7.

  • Patent number: 6276182
Abstract: The invention relates to a mill for rolling pipes or other bodies such as flat blooms, bars, rods and the like. The rolling mill is formed by an outer load-bearing structure in which holders are accommodated so as to be extractable therefrom; in the holders there are mounted lever arms (18, 19, 20) that are pivotable transversely to the rolling axis along which the pipes or bodies to be rolled advance. The arms support the working rolls (48, 49, 50) at one end and, at the other end, are secured to the respective holder by means of a pin (22, 23, 24). In the rolling mill of the invention, there are advantageously means for rotating the olders about the rolling axis; this enables the rolls (48-50) to be brought back to the ideal working condition when their dimensions are reduced as a result of periodic machining to which they are subjected for maintenance and their working attitude can no longer be reestablished solely by the swinging movement of the lever arms (18-20) that support them.

The finish rolling block includes a plurality of work rolling sets and sizing rolling sets with essentially round sizing rolls, wherein the rolling sets are arranged closely one behind the other and the rolling planes thereof are alternatingly offset relative to each other by 90.degree.. The method includes imparting a twist to the rolled material by asymmetrically spreading the rolled material in the two sets of rolls which precede the last set of rolls, wherein the twist imparted in the two sets of rolls has approximately the same magnitude but is directed in opposite directions, so that the rolled material is stabilized in its position in the last sizing roll pass.

  • Patent number: 5305624
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for obtaining narrow tolerances of accuracy to pe and size of a rolled product rolled in a wire mill and/or bar mill including at least two sizing stands of high stiffness wherein, with the exception of the last stand, the stands are adjustable under load. The stands cooperate with a device for determining the geometrical data of the rolled product, as well as the relevant rolling operation data. The device is mounted in front of the next-to-last stand for detecting the geometrical data of the rolled product before it enters into the next-to-last stand. The measured values are processed with a sizing model for obtaining a desired exact profile shape in the last roll stand in a computer for forming a signal which is used for adjusting the next-to-last stand.
