  • Patent number: 10799924
Abstract: A method for controlling a roller line, preferably a cold roller line, which has one or more roller stands each with two working rollers, which form a roller gap, through which a roller band is transportable. One or both working rollers can shift relative to the other, so that the roller gap is adjustable. The method includes making available a reference speed, which is a parameter for controlling the roller line, measurement of speed of the roller band before the inlet into the roller gap, measurement of the thickness of the roller band before the inlet into the roller gap, and adjustment of the roller gap of one or more roller frames in the roller line on the basis of measured speed and thickness before the inlet into the roller gap as well as the reference speed.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention comprise forming a billet from molten steel and hot rolling the billet to reduce the cross sectional area of the billet. Thereafter, the billet is hot rolled into a lead pass bar having a cross-sectional area comprising a reduced width dimension located adjacent to the center longitudinal axis of the bar. Abstract: In a rolling mill, an open-loop and/or closed-loop control device and a method for adjusting a discharge thickness of rolling stock which passes through a multi-stand mill train, wherein a first section of the rolling stock is rolled to a first discharge thickness, a second section of the rolling stock is rolled to a second discharge thickness which is different from the first discharge thickness. Because a transition from the first discharge thickness to the second discharge thickness takes place at a feed rate of the rolling stock into the mill train which is adjusted as a function of a discharge rate of the rolling stock of a unit which is arranged upstream of the mill train in the direction of mass flow, a method can be made available which runs essentially without reactions for units which are arranged upstream of the mill train in the direction of mass flow.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a roll (26) for rolling a long semifinished article (18). The roll is rotatable about an axis of rotation (r) and comprises: a groove (44) able to reproduce a nominal arc (h) of the outer profile of the semifinished article; and a groove plane (?) which intersects, perpendicularly with respect to the axis of rotation, the roll along its smaller section. The roll is asymmetrical with respect to the groove plane (?). The invention also relates to a rolling station (22) and a continuous rolling mill (20) which comprise a plurality of such rolls. Finally, the invention relates to a method for reconditioning these rolls.

Abstract: Drive loads for a plurality of drives of a mill train for rolling rolling stock with a plurality of rolling stands each being assigned at least one drive, are adjusted essentially to a first set point value on the basis of operation of the mill train in accordance with a first pass sequence. Redistribution of drive loads is improved, by adjusting the drive loads during the rolling to a second set point value different from the first setpoint value based on operating the mill train in accordance with a second pass sequence different from the first pass sequence, wherein at least during the adjustment of the second set point values a feed rate of the rolling stock into the mill train is adjusted as a function of a discharge rate of the rolling stock which is arranged upstream of the mill train in the direction of mass flow.

Abstract: A feed product is rolled into different sized finished products in a rolling mill finishing section which comprises a plurality of modular rolling units arranged along the mill pass line. Each rolling unit includes two roll stands with work rolls configured to define successive oval and round roll passes. The roll stands are designed to effect specific area reductions on products rolled through their respective oval and round roll passes. Feed products having the same entry size are rolled into finished products having different reduced sizes by providing altered rolling sequences in which a selected rolling unit is replaced along the pass line with rolling units having roll stands designed to effect area reductions that differ from those of the roll stands of the replaced rolling unit. Rolling units downstream from the replaced rolling unit are removed from the pass line. The roll stands of rolling units upstream from the replaced rolling unit remain unchanged.

Abstract: A flow of rolling with a combination of asymmetric rolling (S1) and skin pass rolling (S3) is shown. Differential-speed rolling is performed as the asymmetric rolling, and a winder temporarily winds a metal strip with a collapsed plate shape by traverse winding (loose winding which allows the metal strip is wound in a zigzag manner: S2). Then, the skin pass rolling is performed, and orderly winding is performed in a coil form (S4). As shown in the flow of rolling, tandem rolling may be performed by arranging two or more rolling mills side by side so that the asymmetric rolling and the skin pass rolling are continuously performed without the traverse winding (S2) in the mid course.
