A conical portion formation step moves the second portion relative to the first portion in a second direction opposite to the first direction, eliminating the level difference. In this manner, a conical portion is formed in the second direction on the inner side of the second portion; and a burring step performs a burring process on the conical portion, thus forming the boss portion.

Abstract: A pressing apparatus 30 performs plastic working by pressing a punch 36 into a metal plate 31. The pressing apparatus 30 includes a rough surface part 47 that is formed at a front-end-side area of an outer surface of the punch 36, the level of surface roughness of the rough surface part 47 being greater than that of other area part, and a smooth surface part 48 that is formed at a base-end-side area that is located at a relatively base-end side in comparison with the area of the rough surface part 47, the smooth surface part 48 being smoother than the rough surface part 47. The punch is inserted up to a point where the rough part goes beyond one surface of the metal plate that is opposite to the other surface thereof that is provided at a side at which the insertion of the punch into the metal plate is started. By this means, the formation of a bump on the punched-side surface is prevented.

Abstract: The method of forming a through-hole is capable of preventing formation of burrs, improving machining efficiency and reducing machining cost. The method of forming a through-hole in a circular wall of a cylindrical part of a work piece comprises the steps of: setting the work piece to a die; inserting a punch, which is provided to a rod-shaped metal core, into the cylindrical part; and pressing and moving a press pin toward the die together with the punch so as to drive the punch into an inner face of the circular wall and bore the through-hole. The press pin is inserted in the cylindrical part via a guide through-hole, which has been formed in the circular wall of the work piece and which is located on the opposite side of a prescribed position corresponding to the through-hole to be bored, and contacts a surface of the metal core, which is located on the opposite side of the punch.

Abstract: A novel multipart punch and system allows apertures to be formed in hydroformed members with the slug which would otherwise result being divided into two or more smaller slugs. These smaller slugs can be folded back into the hydroformed member and held captive therein or removed if desired. The multipart punch and system provides a flush surface in the hydroforming mold when the punch is in its initial position to allow easy loading and unloading of the mold and to allow additional blank to be fed into the mold during the hydroforming operation, if desired. Also, the hydraulic ram used with the multipart punch need develop less force than an equivalent prior art stepped punch.

Abstract: A method for perforating a sheet (1) with the aid of a stamp (3) and a matrix (2) is described, the sheet (1) being elongated before the hole punching in accordance with the setpoint diameter in the hole boundary area through bulging of the hole area. In order to be able to stamp flat perforated sheets, it is suggested that the sheet (1) be countersunk through embossing in the hole boundary area on the side diametrically opposite the matrix (2) after the hole punching to equalize internal tensions.

Abstract: In a process for forming a linking element for a push belt for a continuously variable transmission, material is displaced from a central portion of the linking element during a blanking process, which central portion is substantially centrally located in the horizontal transverse direction. A blanking member which is applied during the blanking process, comprises a shaping surface which abuts against a front surface or a back surface of the linking element under the influence of pressure during the blanking process. The blanking member is provided with a relatively elevated central portion, which serves to displace material from the central portion of the linking element during the blanking process.
