  • Patent number: 6345555
Abstract: A reversible adjustable wrench having a main body on which a slidable first jaw and a pivotally rotatable second jaw are disposed. In normal state, a leaning section of the second jaw is leant against a stop block to prevent the second jaw from being pivotally rotated. By means of rotating a spiral rod, the gap between the first and second jaws can be adjusted to snugly clamp different sizes of nuts or bolts. After moving the stop block, the second jaw has a space for pivotal rotation, permitting the wrench to be reversely wrenched.

  • Patent number: 6339978
Abstract: The invention relates to an open-end wrench having a clamping jaw which is rigidly connected to a wrench handle in a fixed manner. A spring-loaded, moveable clamping jaw is pivotally mounted on the fixed clamping jaw. A recess, which recoils opposite the plane of the clamping surface, is connected to the clamping surface of the fixed clamping jaw on the gripping side. The moveable clamping jaw has a recess located in the area between the clamping surface of the jaw and the pivot point thereof. In an opened state of the wrench, said recess approximately corresponds to the recess behind the fixed clamping jaw. The wrench can be handled similarly to a fixed open-end wrench, whereby it enables a ratcheting action and has a self-clamping operation.

  • Patent number: 6223630
Abstract: A wrench has a pair of jaws that are disposed on a handle and are spaced to define an opening for a workpiece. A pair of plates, each of which includes a workpiece engaging surface are mounted on the jaws for selective movement between first and second positions. In the first position, the plates are immobile with respect to each other so that rotation of the handle in a first direction causes the plates to grasp the workpiece between the engaging surfaces and turn the workpiece in the first direction. In the second position, a first one of the plates is pivotable with respect to a second one of the plates so that rotation of the handle in a second, opposite direction causes pivoting of the first plate and allows the engaging surfaces to slide over the workpiece, thereby allowing the workpiece to remain stationary.

  • Patent number: 5996445
Abstract: A ratcheting open-ended wrench has a movable jaw pivotally attached to a fixed jaw. The jaws define an opening capable of receiving the hexagonal head of a fastener such as a nut, bolt, hose fitting or pipe fitting. The fastener may be turned by moving the handle of the wrench back and forth without disengaging the fastener from the opening. A stop prevents the movable jaw from moving in a way which would place excessive stresses on the movable jaw. An arc shaped bearing surface on the movable jaw is received in a mating bearing surface on the fixed jaw. The combination of the stop and the mating bearing surfaces greatly reduces shear forces on the pivot. The point about which the movable jaw pivots is located forwardly relative to the opening. A wrench according to the invention can be both strong and compact. The wrench is reliable simple to manufacture and may be made with only three or four parts.

  • Patent number: 5829327
Abstract: A wrench includes a pair of jaws mounted to a handle. A first jaw is mounted for selective actuation by an actuator between a stationary position with respect to a second jaw so that the jaws engage and rotate the workpiece when the wrench handle is rotated, and a movable position with respect to the second jaw so that the jaws disengage and slide over the workpiece (e.g., in a ratchet-like manner) and allow the workpiece to remain stationary when the handle is rotated. The wrench operates in the selected mode of operation (i.e., driving or ratcheting) when the handle is rotated in either direction. • Patent number: 4275621
Abstract: An implement for attaching hangers such as screw eyes, screw hooks and the like to surfaces particularly ceilings and walls in which the hanger is held in the body of the implement with the screw end directed outwardly. The hanger is secured by a pivoted cover which releases the hanger from the body upon a contact activator positioned on the implement contacting the ceiling or wall. Upon such contact the cover is opened and the continued rotation of the implement immediately frees the hanger from the implement without further action by the operator.

  • Patent number: 4204440
Abstract: An open end one way torque wrench has a wrench head recess in which a pair of articulated jaw members is adapted to receive and apply torque to a multifaced element by turning the wrench in one direction, and the jaw members automatically release and move into engagement with the next succeeding faces of the element by swinging the wrench in the opposite direction. The wrench head has a substantially semicircular track on which one of the jaw members rides. The other jaw member rides a tangential extension of the track. The jaw assembly is normally biased toward a torquing shoulder from which the assembly retreats during the release and re-engagement action of the jaw assembly.
