Abstract: A starter for a nut, the starter having blades with outer edges possessing at least one innermost flat, at least one outer flat and a step connecting said flats.
Abstract: An insertion tool for a helically coiled wire insert of the type used for tapped holes in parent material that is generally softer than a fastener being screwed into the tapped hole, whereby a mandrel having a threaded lead portion and a pivotal pawl inserted in a groove below the threaded portion so that the pawl engages a recess of the insert, in order that the insert may be screwed into the tapped hole. The pivotal pawl also permits removal and reinsertion of the tool after the coil insert has been installed.
Abstract: A removal tool for a tangless helically coiled wire insert of the type used for tapped holes in parent material that is generally softer than a fastener being screwed into the tapped hole, whereby a mandrel having a threaded lead portion and a pivotable pawl inserted in a groove below the threaded portion so that the pawl engages a recess of the trailing end of the insert, in order that the insert may be extracted from the tapped hole. The pivotable pawl is automatically disengaged from the insert when the mandrel is pulled back, allowing the mandrel to free spin out of the tangless insert.
Abstract: A power-driven insertion tool for a helically coiled wire insert of the type used for tapped holes in parent material that is generally softer than a fastener being screwed into the tapped hole, whereby a mandrel having a threaded lead portion and a pivotal pawl inserted in a groove below the threaded portion so that the pawl engages a recess of the insert, in order that the insert may be screwed into the tapped hole. A sleeve, concentric to the threaded mandrel, maintains the insert's helix angle for a smooth transition into the tapped hole. An adjusting nut adjusts the depth to which an insert may be installed and whereby a free spinning bearing contacts the parent material and automatically reverses the torque of the tool.
Abstract: A tool for insertion into a pipe in order to apply torque by contact with the inside surface of the pipe. It has an axially located socket in a central rotor with a concentric ring around the rotor. The ring has a plurality of toothed gripping arms pivoted on the ring and connected to the rotor by links pivoted at both ends so that relative rotation of the rotor extends the gripping arms for contacting the inside of the pipe by the teeth.
