  • Publication number: 20150147543
Abstract: A process for debundling a carbon fiber tow into dispersed chopped carbon fibers suitable for usage in molding composition formulations is provided. A carbon fiber tow is fed into a die having fluid flow openings, through which a fluid impinges upon the side of the tow to expand the tow cross sectional area. The expanded cross sectional area tow extends from the die into the path of a conventional fiber chopping apparatus to form chopped carbon fibers, or through contacting tines of a mechanical debundler. Through adjustment of the relative position of fluid flow openings relative to a die bore through which fiber tow passes, the nature of the fluid impinging on the tow, the shape of the bore, in combinations thereof an improved chopped carbon fiber dispersion is achieved. The chopped carbon fiber obtained is then available to be dispersed in molding composition formulations prior to formulation cure.

Abstract: A filter medium is embossed to form embossments and the filter medium is then cut at least in some sections by a cutting device such as a water jet, a laser beam, an ultrasonic cutting device, or a cutter, by moving a point of impact of the cutting device relative to the filter medium to produce a cutting line. After cutting, the filter medium is folded. Alternatively, the filter medium is folded to folds and then at least some of the folds are pulled apart at least partially. In a region of the folds which have been pulled apart, the filter medium is cut at least in some sections thereof by the cutting device by moving a point of impact of the cutting device relative to the filter medium to produce a cutting line. After cutting, the folds are reset.

Abstract: An apparatus for processing a hole with a rounded edge includes a punch having a rounded shape formed at a base portion of a cutting tip, and a die supporting a peripheral edge of a pierced hole formed through piercing by the cutting tip of the punch with a pressure receiving surface perpendicular to a punch axis. By driving the punch to make a single stroke motion, a hole is pierced in a work piece by the cutting tip of the punch to form the pierced hole and the rounded shape of the cutting tip is transferred onto a ridge portion on the side of a design surface of the pierced hole. This permits efficient processing of holes with a rounded edge. In addition, by supporting the peripheral edge of the pierced hole with the pressure receiving surface, a uniform and highly accurate rounded shape can be formed on the ridge portion of the pierced hole.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for producing corrugated material and processing strip material which is removed from the edges of the corrugated material during the formation process. The strip material is cut away from the corrugated material and expelled at a variable line speed to a trim processing machine. The line speed is measured by a sensor which provides a signal representation of the speed to a cutter assembly. The cutter assembly cuts the strip material at a cutting speed which is sequenced to the line speed such that the strip material is cut into a plurality of pieces. The pieces are generally uniform in shape and size across variations in the line speed as the cutting speed is synchronized with the line speed.

Abstract: At the time of cutting stacked sheet members, a knife or a punch pierces the sheet members at positions such as along a cutting line, in a region outside the cutting line, or in a seam allowance inside the cutting line. By moving the knife or the punch vertically, heat is applied to the sheet members such that the seam members are welded (i.e., fused) together vertically. Even if at the time of cutting stacked sheet members having low air permeability, it is possible to prevent warpage or slippage of the sheet members, and cutting is performed accurately.

The cutting device 100 includes a continuous portion transport unit 30 configured to hold and transport the continuous portion 210 of the web being continuous in a moving direction of the web, and a discontinuous portion transport unit 40 configured to hold and transport a discontinuous portion of the web being discontinuous in the moving direction of the web. The die roll 10 includes a first large diameter portion 12 whose outer peripheral surface is provided with a cutting blade 15 configured to cut a continuous portion 210 of the web. The anvil roll 20 includes a second large diameter portion 22 disposed to face the first large diameter portion 12. By the discontinuous portion transport unit 40, the discontinuous portion 220 passes through between the die roll 10 and the anvil roll 20 without contacting the first large diameter portion 12 and the second large diameter portion 22.

Abstract: Clean-Necks System is a hair cutting method and apparatus that may be used by an individual to accurately trim his or her own hair. The clean-necks system may fasten around an individual's head using hook and loop fasteners. In a size-adjustable embodiment, notches found on the back may adjust the size of the unit, allowing use of the product by both adults and children. The bands that hold the clean-necks system around an individual's head may be elastic and flexible for comfort. A curved sloping guard may be attachable on the back of the clean-necks system whereby the curved sloping guard may be adjusted as desired by the user and may provide a cutting line. Once the clean-necks system is comfortably in place, individuals may utilize standard beard or hair trimmers and follow the curved sloped guard to cleanly remove hair from their neck in a straight line. Hair that is contained above and within the clean-necks system will be protected from unintentional shaving or cutting by the user.
