  • Patent number: 8109065
Abstract: A system and method are provided that allow meat logs to be manually loaded into a slicing station and thereafter be continuously automatically processed at the slicing station, a harping station, and an insertion station for automated packaging thereof without the need for handling of the meat stacks by workers. To this end, the slicing station is effective to form smaller sections or chubs from the meat logs and to do so such that the chubs are provided with substantially parallel flat end-faces to ensure that high quality meat slices are generated therefrom. The chubs are then transported to the harping station where each of the chubs undergoes a single cutting operation, thus simultaneously forming the meat slices therefrom and substantially maintaining the slices in the configuration of the chubs for generating well-formed stacks of the slices.

Abstract: A method for processing an end of a very thin coaxial cable which includes sequentially from its center to outer side a center conductor, an inner insulator, a shield conductor formed of a helically wound or a braided conducting wire, and a jacket. The method includes cutting the jacket to expose the shield conductor, cutting a circumferential portion of the exposed shield conductor in plural longitudinal portions of the very thin coaxial cable, and pulling and removing the jacket and the shield conductor between the end of the very thin coaxial cable and a farthest end-processing portion from the end of the very thin coaxial cable, to expose the inner insulator.

Abstract: An improved centrifugally-cast tube is provided, along with a related method and apparatus of making the tube. The tube includes a plurality of grooves and bosses that are mechanically machined into an interior surface of the tube, such as by a broaching process. The profile of grooves and bosses may be defined by a plurality of intersecting concave and convex radii. The tube is resistant to creep, carburization and metal dusting. The tube also has an enhanced heat transfer rate, and a desirable surface roughness. A method of making the tube is also provided. The method essentially consists of mechanically deforming the interior surface of the tube by passing a series of cutting inserts on support rings having incrementally-differing dimensions over the interior surface.

Abstract: A slab shaping system includes a slab shaping device. The slab shaping device includes a cutting device and de-burring device, wherein the cutting device and the de-burring device, respectively cut and de-burr a slab. According to an embodiment, the slab shaping system may include a plurality of spaced apart slab support beams that form at least one slot therebetween. According to an embodiment, the cutting device and de-burring device may be axially-aligned. A method for operating a slab shaping system is disclosed. The method includes the steps of positioning a plurality of slab support beams on a table to form at least one slot; positioning a slab over the slab support beams; positioning a cutting device and de-burring device of a slab shaping device in axial-alignment; and cutting and de-burring the cut in the slab along a length of the at least one slot.

Abstract: The invention relates to a sport-technical layer for use in an artificial lawn system in particular intended for sports fields, which artificial lawn system is built up at least of a substrate to which artificial grass fibres are attached as well as the sport-technical layer extending under said substrate, which sport-technical layer comprises at least one damping sublayer made of a synthetic foam, which damping sublayer made of a synthetic foam is built up of an essentially rigid flat plate, which plate is provided with flatness-enhancing means. The invention further relates to an artificial lawn system provided with such a sport-technical layer. According to the invention, the sport-technical layer is to that end characterised in that said flatness-enhancing means comprise at least one first slot assembly of at least two closely spaced slots formed in a respective upper surface or bottom surface of the plate, which slots extend in a first direction of the plate.

Abstract: A method of making a tube sump with integral clips from a single material modifies multiple lumen tubing of any material that allows for two or more lumens. Preferably, the tubing is a plastic polymer with dual lumens. One lumen functions as a suction tube and the other lumen undergoes modification to form tubular clips. The modification removes a pattern of tubing opposite the suction tube to form integral clips that retain the tube sump upon an existing endotracheal tube. The removed sections of lumen may have any length or number. Common methods to remove the lumen sections include mechanical cutting, sawing, laser cutting, thermal cutting, melting, ablating, and shearing. Alternatively, the clips may be formed during the manufacture of the multiple lumen tubular product.
