  • Patent number: 9506841
Abstract: A tissue slicer system that includes a tissue slicing mold capable of producing very thin (e.g., on the order of 3 mm) and uniform slices to be captured from whole, fresh tissue specimens, notably breast lumpectomies, while minimizing distortion. These thin, uniform whole-specimen slices of the fresh surgical specimen increase the area of tissue available for inspection, reduce the amount of tissue lost in trimming during microtomy, and permit tissue processing for producing whole-mount sections.

  • Patent number: 8474357
Abstract: Tomatoes are placed on parallel cutter blades (20) in article openings (46) of an article positioning plate (44). Alternate blades are oscillated in arcuate paths in opposite direction as article pushers (24) move downwardly, pushing the tomatoes through the parallel cutter blades (20). The end slices of the tomatoes are gathered separately in the collectors (96) and are later discarded, while the intermediate slices are received in a transfer plate (78). Gathering plates (100) urge the intermediate slices of the several tomatoes together in one accumulation of tomato slices, and the transfer plate (78) is lowered to a position immediately above the shipping containers (80) and opened to deposit the tomatoes in the shipping containers. A fluid spray nozzle (75) may be positioned to emit a spray of gas or liquid between the fins of the pushers and/or toward the cutter blades (20) and toward engagement with the tomatoes for sterilizing, cleaning, or other treatment of the tomatoes and the adjacent surfaces.

Abstract: An apparatus for gripping food products such as bacon, cheese or cooked meat in a slicing machine, together with methods of operation thereof. The gripper apparatus comprises hooks for gripping one end of the food product. During slicing, the slicing machine cuts slices from the other end of the food product. Two sets of hooks are present and each set of hooks is moveable between a retracted inoperative position and an extended product-gripping position, independently of the other set. • Patent number: 6487949
Abstract: A bale processor for cutting or dicing a bale or slab of unvulcanized rubber produces small cubes or blocks of a predetermined size and uniform shape for continuous feeding at a predetermined rate into a mixing machine or blender. A bale or slab of feedstock rubber is advanced incrementally along a slider platform and a segment is sliced from the leading end of the bale. After separation, the segment falls onto a receiving panel from which it is transferred by a vacuum pick-up head to a vacuum hold-down table. Multiple slices are then formed through the segment along the X-axis by circular cutting blades of an X-axis cutter head, thereby forming elongated segment strips. Next, multiple slices are formed through the segment strips in the Y-direction by a Y-axis cutter head which includes circular cutter blades that are extendable and retractable along the Y-axis.

Abstract: A quick press device for a table saw includes a handle connected to a miter gauge and a mediate member is pivotally connected to the other end of the handle. An arm pivotally received in the mediate member and a knob member is inserted into the arm. A spring is received in the arm and biases against the knob member. A shaft extends through the arm and the knob member wherein the hole in the knob member is larger than the hole of the arm. The shaft presses on the object when pushing the knob member to allow the shaft to be freely shifted in the hole of the knob member. The knob member is then released to be biased by the spring to securely position the shaft. A crank lifts an end of the arm to presses the shaft downward.

Abstract: A machine for cutting bread into slices, comprising a crumb deflector situated beneath the cutting device in order to receive the crumbs as they fall from the cutting device during the cutting of a loaf and guide them toward a crumb-collecting bin. In an advantageous embodiment, the crumb deflector comprises a front part that slopes down toward the crumb-collecting bin and a rear part that extends to form the rear wall of a compartment. The zone of the machine housing the drive and mechanical transmission members is thus separated from the crumb-receiving zone and is thus kept clean and protected from showers of crumbs.
