Publication number: 20130152757Abstract: Provided is a technique which can prevent abnormal vibrations from occurring on a resonator and apply, to a putting edge, vibrations with the magnitude of amplitude thereof adjusted in the direction of width of the edge, thereby cutting an object of interest with high accuracy. The resonator (21) with a grip portion grasped with clamp means (28) is supported by a support means (24), thereby preventing abnormal vibrations from occurring on the resonator (21). The resonator (21) has at least one elongated hole (26b) defined through a side thereof, thus allowing for adjusting the amplitude magnitude of vibrations in the direction of width of the cutting edge (23) on one end of the resonator (21). This enables vibrations with the amplitude of an adjusted magnitude in the direction of width to be applied to the cutting edge (23). Accordingly, the cutting edge (23) which is adequately vibrated can be used to cut the object of interest with high accuracy.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2011Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicants: PMT CORPORATION, ADWELDS CORPORATIONInventors: Seiya Nakai, Kazuhiro Noda, Shoichi Heima

Patent number: 5267497Abstract: A dual action punch having two portions capable of performing scarfing and piercing respectively. The scarfing operation is accomplished by moving the punch in a direction tangential to the surface of the material so as to engage portions of the material which may extend from the major plane thereof, such as flanges. As the punch passes through a respective die opening formed in the lower die, the engaged portions of the flange are removed and the scarfing operation is complete. In this manner an opening is produced in the flange which corresponds to the shape and location of the punch as it is moved in the tangential direction. The piercing operation is accomplished by moving the punch in a direction orthogonal to a major plane of the material. As the punch passes through a respective die opening formed in the lower die, an opening is formed in the material which corresponds to the shape and location of the punch as it is moved in the orthogonal direction.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1991Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Inventor: Cornelius G. Patent number: 4589314Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for cutting motion picture film negatives. The improvements in the present invention film cutting apparatus enable the film cutter to cut the motion picture film negative with a precise, even, clean cut at a location mid-way between adjacent frames of film footage. This is necessary when using a new technique of negative cutting and splicing that allows no frame loss and still maintains all of the requirements of professional (state of the art) motion picture film processing. This has never before been done. The improvements include individual film seating plates which press the lengths of motion picture film to be cut against individual film support and ejection plates to assure that the lengths of film are securely held prior to and during the cutting operation. The present invention also provides safety features to assure that the operator will not accidentally cut himself during the operation.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1985Date of Patent: May 20, 1986Assignee: Brian RalphInventors: Brian Ralph, Martin Mueller

Patent number: 3996831Abstract: A metal shearing or punching machine has a body with upper and lower jaws defining a throat, the lower jaw carrying a die and the upper jaw carrying means for applying force to a blade movable in the throat to co-act with the die. The blade is pivotably mounted with respect to the body and the position of the pivoting axis on the body is selected to substantially eliminate detrimental misalignment of the blade and die when application of working force causes deformation of the body. For a given force to be applied between the blade and die the body can accordingly be made of relatively lighter construction than conventional castings used hitherto. Lateral stability of the blade is further enhanced by use of a relatively long bearing for the blade mount, e.g. substantially the entire width of the body adjacent to the pivot. In a preferred embodiment, the body of the machine is composed substantially wholly of two profile-cut steel plates connected by ties.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1974Date of Patent: December 14, 1976Inventor: Wilfred Ernest Gale

Patent number: 3991637Abstract: A chop saw for selectively cutting logs to various lengths includes a motor-driven circular saw blade mounted at the outer end of a saw carriage pivoted to a fixed base. A rotary crank mechanism driven by a hydraulic motor on the carriage oscillates the carriage about its pivot to feed the saw blade into and out of a log held in cutting position alongside the carriage by hydraulic cylinder-operated clamp arms which are also mounted on the fixed base. A crankshaft of the rotary crank mechanism carries a cam which operates a hydraulic flow control valve in the hydraulic circuit of the carriage drive motor to reduce the speed of the motor and thus carriage travel only when the saw blade cuts through the log. Limit switches in an electrical control circuit and operated by cams on the crankshaft control the operation of valves in hydraulic circuits for the clamp cylinders and carriage drive motor to coordinate the positions of the carriage with the closing and opening of the clamp arms.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1975Date of Patent: November 16, 1976Assignee: Kockum Industries, Inc.Inventor: Dallas F.
