  • Patent number: 5492041
Abstract: A slitting equipment, piercing various patterns of ventilation slits in thin material, comprising a frame, a main cylinder, auxiliary cylinders, and a plate with knives. Upon an electric impulse from a bag-making machine, to which the present slitting equipment is attached, the auxiliary pneumatic cylinders press and stretch the thin material when the main pneumatic cylinder activates a plate, to which is attached a multitude of cutting knives, up and down the vertical plane. The sharp knives pierce and cut the stretched, thin film in the designed pattern. When the knives have disengaged from the material, the auxiliary cylinders release the film, and the latter is free to move horizontally, while restricted vertically by the top and bottom supports of the machine. As a result of this procedure, ventilation openings have been created simultaneously with the sealing and shaping processes carried on by the bag-making machine, without producing any waste material.

  • Patent number: 5195417
Abstract: In the registration of artwork panels for the manufacture of printed circuit boards, each panel is located, in turn, above two target location areas. Targets are provided upon the panel and these targets are positioned over the target location areas. With light projected from the target location areas and through the panel around the targets, the positions of the location areas and targets are monitored, and the artwork panel is moved to dispose the targets in specific locations relative to datums. The panel is then registered in position prior to a processing step, e.g. the punching-out of registration holes.

  • Patent number: 5163350
Abstract: A paper punch and binding apparatus has two punch mechanisms, one for punching round holes in a paper sheets stack and one for punching rectangular holes in another paper sheets stack. A single lever or crank simultaneously operates and drives a series of round end punches to shear the round holes and a punch plate with integral rectangular punch elements shear rectangular holes. A four-bar linkage connects the lever to the punch plate and the series of the punches in a manner that both the plate and punches are driven in a vertical straight line and with a greater mechanical advantage at the start and over the first increments of the punching operation. In a preferred embodiment, a binding station is provided in an apparatus base portion particularly for binding with a Douvry-type plastic resilient loops binding element. The binding station has an operating knob which operates a simple gear interconnect train for uncurling the resilient loops and allowing the punched hole stack to be inserted thereon.

  • Patent number: 5114394
Abstract: A single, fluid pressure-operated cylinder, which has a conventional slitter blade and punch releasably secured to the lower end of its piston rod, is secured to a plastic bag making machine so that the operating ends of the blade and punch project toward a stationary, horizontal support surface across which overlapping plastic webs pass during bag manufacturing. The webs are secured against movement during a slitting and punching operation by a pressure plate, which is also mounted on the piston rod for movement thereby into engagement with the plastic webs to clamp them against the stationary support surface during the initial advance of the rod. As the rod continues to advance it moves the blade and punch through the now-clamped plastic webs, after which the piston rod is retracted and the parts return to their inoperative positions.
