Fixed Axis Lever Patents (Class 83/633)
  • Patent number: 4757733
Abstract: A punch main body, consisting of a base portion and a support portion, is formed from one or two extruded profiles, for example of aluminium. Respective end plates, for example of moulded plastics, are preferably fitted to the ends of the profile (5) to maintain overall strength and rigidity so that the thickness of the extruded material can be reduced. A pivotal press bar, which may also be an extruded profile, is effective to move cutting tools downwards through openings in the punch main body. The length of the extruded profile (5) and the positioning thereon of the openings for the cutting tools can be varied without the need for new production moulds, thereby simplifying and reducing the cost of production of a range of different sizes of punch.

  • Patent number: 4713995
Abstract: A hole punch assembly for punching holes in papers and such, usually having dual spring-loaded punch units attached to a base member. The punch assembly is constructed from formed sheet steel and includes a rectangular-shaped base member having two spaced-apart rectangular shaped depressions and openings therein, each for receiving a spring-loaded punch unit rigidly attached to the base. The punch unit includes a frame folded to provide a gap through which a punch rod is extended through a hole, the frame enclosing a compression spring located around the punch rod and a spring-retaining shoulder ring is provided in a groove located between the frame and the upper end of the compression spring. The punch unit is rigidly attached to the base member so that the gap has its lower surface flush with the upper surface of the base member, to allow paper stacks or paper sheets for punching to be guided into the gap without any obstructions or hang-up.

  • Patent number: 4656907
Abstract: A hand-operated punch is formed of molded parts which interfit for easy and rapid assembly and disassembly. This feature is particularly useful if there are paper jams. A handle hooks under a wall of the base. Depressing the handle forces downward a transverse bar recessed to accept the upper ends of the male punch elements, which are spring-biased to travel with the transverse bar. The punch elements reciprocate within a die bar detachably connected to the base. The die bar is formed with a throat for insertion of papers to be punched. The front edge of the base is formed with a transverse groove to accept a male binder element during assembly of a book comprised of the punched paper.

  • Patent number: 4594927
Abstract: An improved multi-hole punch is provided in which the vertical distances between the lower ends of a multiplicity of rod cutters are gradually increased from one end to the other end of the lateral row in which the plurality of rod cutters is arranged. Thus, the rod cutters plunge into paper sheets supported on the base of the punch sequentially in the direction in which the vertical distances of their lower ends from the aforementioned portion of the base increase.

  • Patent number: 4509397
Abstract: A perforator of enhanced performance is disclosed which comprises a punch and a perforation jig comprising upper and lower oblong sheet retainer plates adapted to hold paper sheets, so that in the course of perforation, the perforation jig will retain the punch fast in position with respect to the paper sheets and prevent the punch from being shaken in the vertical direction relative to the perforation jig. The perforator of this invention is constructed so that when the front portion of the punch is abutted against the upper sheet retainer plate forming part of the perforation jig, a punch-supporting member of the lower sheet retainer plate protruding outwardly from the upper sheet retainer plate advances into a recess extended from the front side to the rear side of the punch adapted to receive insertion of paper sheets and, consequently, the perforation jig is allowed to hold the punch safely.

  • Patent number: 4404881
Abstract: A needle and syringe destructor is disclosed having particular suitability for the destruction of hypodermic syringe needles, of the single-use variety, immediately after use. The needle, and a portion of the syringe barrel, may be simultaneously severed in a single motion by means of the operator actuating a lever arm means. The lever arm means is linked to a pair of guillotine shears effectuating severance with increased mechanical advantage to the operator. Severed portions drop to a storage chamber. Remaining syringe barrel portions may then be discarded into the storage chamber through a movable closure lid providing separate access to the storage chamber. The severed needle and syringe are destroyed to prevent re-use and accidental injury to medical personnel.

  • Patent number: 4201130
Abstract: The fluid-pressure actuated press is mounted on a column structure. It has a ram, a piston, and an associated piston rod. The free end of the piston rod reciprocates downwardly. A support adjustably mounts the ram on the column structure. A lever bar has a proximate free end in engagement with the free end of the piston rod. The distal end of the lever bar is pivoted about a fixed fulcrum carried by the support. A chuck rod is slidably mounted relative to the support along an axis which is parallel to the axis of the piston rod. The chuck rod is pivotably associated with the lever bar at a point intermediate its ends, whereby the reciprocation force on the piston rod is multiplied by the lever ratio to cause reciprocation of the chuck rod with the multiplied force.

  • Patent number: 4166404
Abstract: Described is a hand punch which can be constructed in a narrow compact form and of few and simple parts. It includes a narrow base formed with a plurality (e.g. two) punch pin openings in a straight line along the length of the base, a pair of lever arms pivotably mounted at opposite ends of the base on pivotal axes parallel to the width of the base, and punch pins received in openings in the lever arms and arranged such that a manual force applied to one of the lever arms to move same towards the base, also moves the other lever arm towards the base, and the plurality of punch pins through the openings in the base. The base is preferably constructed of a multi-leg channel member elongated in the direction of its length, the channel member having four spaced legs, the lower two of which define a compartment for receiving the paper chips, and the middle two of which define a slot for receiving the paper sheet to be punched.

  • Patent number: 4000673
Abstract: A machine for punching a series of aligned holes in suitable stock, e.g., for forming binding holes in a stack of sheet material such as paper. The machine is electrically operated and generally includes a pressure bar which is guidingly constrained for movement along a vertical plane. A plurality of punches and coating dies are included and are arranged in a row and suitably attached to base structure directly beneath the pressure bar. Downward movement of the pressure bar is effective to drive the lower portions of selected ones of the punches into the respective dies and upward movement of the pressure bar is effective to return those driven punches, thus constituting one cycle thereof. A pair of lever arms are provided, having one of the ends thereof coupled to the pressure bar and being pivotally attached to the base and are suitably power driven by structure including a clutch which is operably coupled to the other ends of the lever arms for causing reciprocating movement thereof.
