The preheating portion includes a heating coil. The heating coil is arranged such that an axial direction of the heating coil is along a movement direction of the pressing portion and the heating coil faces, in the axial direction, an area where an amount of deformation is relatively large in a processing region of the metal plate to be stamped by the stamping portion. The heating coil is configured such that at least a part of the area where the amount of deformation is relatively large in the processing region of the metal plate is heated to a higher temperature than an area where the amount of deformation is relatively small in the processing region.

Multiple die sets are provided for possible use in a single press depending on the particular axle housing geometry to be manufactured.     Abstract: Provided is a die trim section with a recess adapted to retain slugs in a stamping process. The recess may be added to existing die inserts via wire EDM, conventional surface grinding or other suitable methods. The lateral depth of the recess in the trim section is approximately equal to the cutting clearance of a die trim or blank insert. The recess is preferably tapered inward toward the die opening, wherein the upper portion is at the die level and the bottom portion is within the die trim insert interior. The recess creates a small tab on a slug that is wedged into the trim section, preventing the slug from being pulled upwards when the punch is withdrawn. Configurations of the recess vary depending upon slug size and material thickness, cutting clearance, dimensions of the trim section, and dimensions and configuration of the finished product.

    Abstract: A device for the perforation of a ductile and/or tacky sheet material includes a frame, pressing tool, a stamp provided with at least one hole, as well as a drive element suspended in the frame for causing the pressing tool and the stamp to move toward each other and away from each other respectively. The pressing tool is provided with an end face and the stamp with a die-edge surrounding the die-hole, which can be caused to act cooperatively with the end face of the pressing tool. The lateral dimensions of the end face are greater than the lateral dimensions of the die-edge, whilst the end face comes into contact with the die-edge essentially around the entire periphery thereof, or the end face and the die-edge enclose a gap with a fixed lateral dimension essentially around the entire periphery thereof.
