The mechanical fastener can be received then in the matched recesses and secured to the underlying portions of the belt ends to join them together while having the fastener generally flush with the rubber overlay. The apparatus is entirely portable and particularly adapted for in-the-field repair and/or modification of existing conveyor belts.

  • Patent number: 4301702
Abstract: A frame supports a hollow housing which mounts thereon a hot wire die support plate from the outer side of which projects a hot wire die. The housing is pivoted to the frame for movement between an operative position in which the die projects upward for cutting a cavity in a block of material that is moved over the support plate between limit-defining stop pins, and a discharge position in which the die projects downward for the gravity release of scrap material resulting from the cutting operation. The scrap material falls onto a hot wire scrap cutting grid extending across a scrap discharge opening below the housing, whereby the scrap material is reduced to small particles as it gravitates through the hot wire grid.

  • Patent number: 4244256
Abstract: An apparatus for shaping profiles in the surface of a moulded semiplastic body (4) comprises a comparatively fine wire (1) extending between the free ends of a plurality of these supporting members such as needle-like supporting members (2,3) which determine the profile shape. The wire is zigzagged in such way that each individual wire portion extending between two adjacent supporting members is oblique in relation to the direction of relative movement between said body and the profile shaping apparatus itself. The apparatus produces extremely distinct profiles with good smoothness of the body surfaces. The apparatus is primarily used for shaping profiles in building units made from a body of lightweight or aerated concrete, while the body is still uncured and semiplastic.

  • Patent number: 4222299
Abstract: This invention relates to gang saws and other cutting apparatus having oscillating cutters for cutting workpieces into slices. The invention provides apparatus, having two elongate spaced apart cutter supports which are driven to oscillate 180.degree. out of phase with each other. Two sets of cutters are connected to the supports. For a suitable workpiece the cutters may be of a hot wire type. Each cutter of one set is connected to the first support by a resiliently extensible connector such as a spring and to the second support by a non-extensible connection. Each cutter of the other set is connected to the second support by a resiliently extensible connector and to the first support by a non extensible connection. Desirably the cutters of one set alternate with cutters of the other and all cutters are coplanar. Movement of cutters of each set in opposite directions tends to cancel the local influence of cutters on the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4176572
Abstract: A dual-knife device for scribing or scoring a wood workpiece before sawing it with a motorized circular handsaw or other saw. The scoring insures a clean saw cut without splintering the wood at the edges, as is required in trimming veneer doors and wall panels. A guide bar is clamped to the workpiece to guide the saw and the scoring device. Prior to sawing, the scoring device is drawn by hand across the workpiece, guided by the same guide bar. The scoring device comprises a pair of knife blades mounted close together on a frame. The knife blades cut two parallel scribe lines or scores into the wood surface, one on each side of the kerf to be sawed. When the saw cut is made, the score lines prevent the saw blade from splintering or feathering the surface of the workpiece along the kerf line, insuring a clean cut.
