  • Patent number: 8834615
Abstract: The present invention provides an air cleaning unit which contains a blower, an acid/alkaline filter device, and a particle filter device. The blower draws in outside air through the acid/alkaline filter device and produces an air flow through the particle filter device. The acid/alkaline filter device absorbs the acid/alkaline gases in the outside air. The particle filter device traps the particles in the air flow. Through this design, the blower draws in air filtered by the acid/alkaline filter device. The blower therefore does not suffer erosion and therefore the air cleaning unit enjoys prolonged operation life span.

Abstract: Provided are a space-saving filter that has a plurality of types of air purification capabilities with reduced pressure loss, and a compact air purifier that efficiently exerts a plurality of types of air purification capabilities. Since a body part of a deodorizing filter includes two pieces of deodorizing filter bodies each having the same thickness (hereafter referred to as thickness D) juxtaposed in a plane direction, the body part has the thickness of D. When the deodorizing filter bodies are laminated, the thickness of the body part becomes 2D or more. The body part has a reduced pressure loss and space in a thickness direction compared with a filter in which the deodorizing filter bodies are laminated. The first deodorizing filter body mainly removes aldehyde-based odor components and the second deodorizing filter body mainly removes amine-based odor components.

  • Patent number: 8778061
Abstract: The reaction exhaust gas from which chlorosilanes and hydrogen chloride have been removed in a hydrogen chloride absorption unit (30) is introduced to an adsorption unit (50) to recover a purified hydrogen (S105). Activated carbon is packed in the adsorption unit (50), the gas, which is mainly composed of hydrogen, is passed through the activated carbon-packed layer during which unseparated chlorosilanes, hydrogen chloride, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, methane, and monosilane contained in the gas are adsorbed on the activated carbon and removed from the gas, and thereby the purified hydrogen is obtained. Nitrogen, carbon monoxide, methane and monosilane are a compressed gas in the state of adsorption, whereas hydrogen chloride and chlorosilanes are a liquid in the state of adsorption, and require a vaporization heat during desorption. Using these properties, the separation of hydrogen chloride and chlorosilanes from other impurity components is possible merely by separating the pathways for the desorbed gas.

The inner side of the filter may approximate the curved shape of an interfacing surface. Because the sorbent beds are oriented perpendicular to the inner side surface, a conformal configuration can be achieved without bending the sorbent beds and while keeping constant bed residence time throughout the entire cross-sectional area of the air flow, thus enforcing even air distribution. Reduced bed depth is also achieved through this configuration which consequently reduces the overall pressure drop through the filter. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 8557030
Abstract: An air dryer cartridge assembly, used in a compressed air system, includes a rigid porous layer, a fibrous material layer, a diffusing layer and a desiccant for filtering and drying compressed air passing in a first direction during a charging cycle. The compressed air passes through diffusing layer, the fibrous material layer and the rigid porous layer in a second direction during a purging cycle. The desiccant, which is downstream of the rigid porous layer, the fibrous material layer and the diffusing layer during the charging cycle, reduces moisture in the compressed air during the charging cycle. The use of diffusing layer downstream of the fibrous material layer during a charging cycle disperses the compressed air so that moisture removal is improved in the desiccant.

Abstract: Hydrogen sulfide is removed from a hydrogen rich gas stream using adsorbents having a low loss of carbon dioxide adsorption capacity upon sulfur loading including high purity silica gels, titania or highly cross-linked, non-chemically reactive resins. The adsorbents may be used to adsorb both carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, or may be used as a guard bed upstream of a separate carbon dioxide adsorbent.

  • Patent number: 8551231
Abstract: In a vaporized fuel treatment apparatus a partition wall member is housed in an inner cap, and a gas-liquid separation chamber and a fuel adsorption chamber are defined on either side of the partition wall member. Further, a partition plate is provided on an open end of the inner cap. Wall portions are formed respectively on the partition wall member and the partition plate, and a conduction passage is defined in the fuel adsorption chamber by these wall portions. As a result, air containing vaporized fuel can be guided to every corner of the fuel adsorption chamber. Further, a through hole is provided in a central portion of the partition wall member, and therefore liquid fuel is prevented from flowing into the fuel adsorption chamber even when a fuel tank is tilted.

  • Patent number: 8540809
Abstract: An external cover of a replaceable cartridge forms at least a portion of an air drying apparatus of a compressed air brake for a vehicle. A first slope is formed at an intermediate position between an extremity of a rising piece and a bottom of an external cover, and a left vertical wall is formed. A right vertical wall is formed opposite the left vertical wall. A top face is formed between the left vertical wall and the right vertical wall. An indentation is defined by the left vertical wall, the right vertical wall, and the top face. A sealing member is fitted into the indentation. A circular-arc portion is formed at a lower end of the right vertical wall. A second slope is formed in an extending manner at a predetermined height from a lower end face that is an intermediate position on a height of the external cover.

  • Patent number: 8535426
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for removing ethylene from a gaseous environment. Ethylene is a gaseous growth hormone produced by plants that triggers the ripening of some flowers, fruits, vegetables, and other plants. The apparatus includes an ethylene filter and a composition. The filter includes a frame and a trapping medium. The composition is attached to the trapping medium of the ethylene filter. The ethylene filter is positioned within a gaseous environment and is configured to encounter a gas flow within the gaseous environment. The composition contains at least some titanium dioxide which is configured to attach to the ethylene as the gas flow moves through and around the ethylene filter. In this manner, some ethylene may be removed from the gaseous environment.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and device for the purpose of filtering particulate laden air exiting a rooftop from a commercial kitchen or other high particulate laden air exhaust. By positioning a filter at a distance from the air exhaust exit in such a manner that the air flow is reflected off the filter a substantial portion of the particulate matter is filtered out of the air without substantially obstructing the flow from the exhaust preventing problems that might be caused from creating back flow in an exhaust system.
