Unique nucleic acid-containing tags containing an odorant are seeded at one or more geographic locations. Using odorant-detection systems, the person or object of interest is examined for the presence of one or more of the odorant, thereby revealing the presence of the seeded nucleic acids and eliminating the expense and time associated with unnecessary screening. The geographic location associated with each detected nucleic acid is used to backtrack the item's path or extrapolate a probable point of origin.

These electrons travel through the pore and collide with additional nanoparticles, which generate more electrons. The electrons are amplified in a cascade reaction that occurs along the pores behind the initial detection point. These Proline-based PEAs assemble as nano-particles in aqueous solutions and form complexes with various cations and biologies, including hydrophobic small molecule drugs and biologies. Abstract: A water redispersible polymer powder is produced by drying an aqueous mixture of a high Tg carboxylated styrene butadiene polymer and a low Tg carboxylated styrene butadiene polymer, where the ratio of the mean or average particle size of the high Tg polymer to the particle size of the low Tg polymer is from 1:1 to 5:1, preferably from 1:1 to 3:1, and the amount of the high Tg polymer is from 20 wt. % to 35 wt. %, preferably from 25 wt. % to 30 wt. %, based upon the total weight of the high Tg polymer and the low Tg polymer. Cement compositions such as mortars, which contain the redispersible polymer powder exhibit unexpectedly superior high bond strength and high impact resistance.

Abstract: A method of making an assembly includes the steps of applying metallic nanoparticles to exposed surfaces of conductive elements of either of or both of a first component and a second component, juxtaposing the conductive elements of the first component with the conductive elements of the second component with the metallic nanoparticles disposed therebetween, and elevating a temperature at least at interfaces of the juxtaposed conductive elements to a joining temperature at which the metallic nanoparticles cause metallurgical joints to form between the juxtaposed conductive elements. The conductive elements of either of or both of the first component and the second component can include substantially rigid posts having top surfaces projecting a height above the surface of the respective component and edge surfaces extending at substantial angles away from the top surfaces thereof.

Abstract: The present application provides nitride semiconductor nanoparticles, for example nanocrystals, made from a new composition of matter in the form of a novel compound semiconductor family of the type group II-III-N, for example ZnGaN, ZnInN, ZnInGaN, ZnAlN, ZnAlGaN, ZnAlInN and ZnAlGaInN. This type of compound semiconductor nanocrystal is not previously known in the prior art. The invention also discloses II-N semiconductor nanocrystals, for example ZnN nanocrystals, which are a subgroup of the group II-III-N semiconductor nanocrystals. The composition and size of the new and novel II-III-N compound semiconductor nanocrystals can be controlled in order to tailor their band-gap and light emission properties. Efficient light emission in the ultraviolet-visible-infrared wavelength range is demonstrated.
