Abstract: An air dam (100) for a snowmobile (10) diverts air away from a cavity beneath the front end (12) of the snowmobile (10). The air dam (100) extends forward and downward, and, thus, diverted air imparts a downwardly directed force on the air dam (100), thereby helping to maintain the skis (20a, 20b) of the snowmobile (10) in contact with the ground. A template (160) is used to form rivet holes (119) in the sidewalls (114, 118) of the air dam (100) as well as in the belly pan (18) of the snowmobile (10) to which the air dam (100) is attached.
Abstract: A rear air deflector includes a shield which is mounted directly to a vehicle using expandable insert style fasteners. The shield is spaced apart from the window frame, except at the ends of the shield which engage the frame. The shield is concave substantially along its length, though the ends are flattened for mating engagement with the window frame. The opposite end portions of the shield have a reverse-curve profile such that the ends are parallel to the window frame surface for mating engagement with the surface. The direct mounting of the deflector to the vehicle eliminates the need for mounting brackets.
Abstract: An aerodynamic spoiler mounts on and attaches to the tailgate area of a pick-up truck. A center piece has opposing flanges for mounting over and gripping the rim of the truck tailgate. Two end pieces advantageously attach independently to the rear corners of the truck adjacent the center piece. The spoiler of the present invention provides protection and enhanced aesthetic appeal to the pick-up truck and additionally imparts aerodynamic benefit thereto.
