Abstract: A disposable teeth cleaning applicator device. An elongated tubular shaft member has an applicator tip member at one end and a toothpick device at the other end. A liquid dental material is positioned inside the tubular shaft member and, once released, is squeezed or allowed to flow into the applicator tip member and used to clean a person's teeth.
Abstract: Oral rinse and dentifrice compositions, comprising a phenolic selected from the group consisting of menthol, eucalyptol, methyl salicylate, thymol, triclosan, and mixtures thereof; and a cyclodextrin selected from the group consisting of hydroxypropyl ?-cyclodextrin, hydroxyethyl ?-cyclodextrin, hydroxypropyl ?-cyclodextrin, hydroxyethyl ?-cyclodextrin, ?-cyclodextrin, methyl ?-cyclodextrin, and mixtures thereof. These compositions are useful in retarding the development of plaque, treating gingivitis, and in treating the presence of micro-organisms in the oral cavity.

Abstract: The invention concerns compositions based on pullulan and a setting system for the use in pharmaceutical, veterinary, food, cosmetic or other products like films for wrapping food, aspics or jellies, preferably for predosed formulations like soft or hard capsules. The composition preferably further contains a surfactant. By using aqueous solution of the inventive compositions, the hard pullulan capsules are produced by a conventional dipping moulding process under the same process condition range than conventional gelatine capsules.

Abstract: A method for reducing an abrasivity of a dentifrice composition containing an abrasive, includes incorporating into the dentifrice composition a zinc salt in an amount sufficient to reduce a dentinal abrasivity of the composition by at least 10% and reduce an enamel abrasivity of the dentifrice composition by at least 10%. The method provides an improved dentifrice composition, which is at least 90% as effective at stain removal as the original dentifrice composition. Suitable zinc salts include, e.g., zinc citrate, zinc chloride, zinc acetate, zinc oxide and zinc sulfate. Suitable abrasives include, e.g., silica, alumina and alkali metal meta-phosphates.

Abstract: A neuroprotective composition for protecting neuronal cells against oxidative stress and methods for using and preparing the same. More particularly, the neuroprotective composition of the invention comprises a therapeutically effective amount of ceruloplasmin or a functional derivative thereof. The neuroprotective composition is characterized in that it protects neuronal cells from reactive oxygen species such as •O2− and •OH. In a preferred embodiment, the neuroprotective composition further comprises an antioxidant consisting of catalase or of an amphiphilic physiological antioxidative solution comprising a mixture of pyruvate, antioxidant, and lipid(s) such as fatty acids. The neuroprotective composition could be used for the treatment of brain trauma, brain or cerebrovascular ischemia, neurodegenerative diseases, poisoning of neuronal cells, the diminution of drugs side effects and for preservation of neuronal grafts.

Abstract: The invention concerns Gelatin compositions for the use in pharmaceutical, veterinary, food, cosmetic or other products like films for wrapping food, aspics or jellies, preferably for predosed formulations like soft or hard gelatin capsules wherein the gelatin used is of non-bovine and non-pig origin and preferably derived from fish, poultry or plant sources. Especially preferred are film compositions for hard gelatine capsules prepared from fish gelatin.
