  • Patent number: 6393141
Abstract: An apparatus for providing a two-dimensional image of a three-dimensional object illuminates the surface of the object using an illumination source. Portions of the surface are imaged through an aperture in a plate onto a portion of a matrix sensor. The object is rotated about its principle axis while being simultaneously translated, and, at the same time the aperture is also rotated. By synchronizing these translational and rotational movements, successive portions of the object surface can image onto respective successive portions of the matrix sensor, thereby providing an improve two-dimensional image of the surface of the object.

  • Patent number: 6348187
Abstract: An antimicrobial mouthwash composition that is useful in the prevention and reduction of bad breath, plaque and related gum diseases comprises an antimicrobial effective amount of thymol and one or more other active essential oils; optionally, ethanol in an amount up to about 30% v/v; from about 0.1% to about 8.0% w/v of a peroxide; at least one surfactant in an amount sufficient to solubilize the essential oils; and water. The compositions may be reduced alcohol or alcohol-free compositions. Further a two-part mouthwash system is disclosed, comprising a base composition and a peroxide solution which may be mixed to form an antimicrobial mouthwash composition. The actives not only provide enhanced efficacy but are completely solubilized, thus providing an aesthetically appealing product.

  • Patent number: 6230931
Abstract: A dispensing package for substantially flat items, such as razor blades, gum and mints. The dispensing package contains a hollow container having a slot on one side and a dispensing door on one end adjacent to the slot. An elevator is located within the track for supporting and lifting the confectionery items. An elevator button is located on one end of the elevator and protrudes through the slot to allow the user to manually raise the elevator and the items located thereon. On the inside of the package and adjacent to the slot is a ratcheting track which corresponds with ratcheting protrusions on the elevator button. The ratcheting track and ratcheting protrusions allow the elevator to move upward in a manner such that only one item at a time is dispensed. Upon the exertion of manual force to lift the elevator button in an upward direction, the elevator is raised via the ratcheting track and protrusions and the top item contacts and pushes open the dispensing door.
