Abstract: In one aspect, a method includes receiving a request for content to be presented in a specified content slot of a specified content page; calculating an active view scroll distance of the specified content slot with respect to the specified content page, the active view scroll distance corresponding to a measurement of a distance that the specified content page would have to be scrolled to change visibility of content displayed in the specified content slot by a specified amount; performing an auction of content items utilizing in part the active view scroll distance; and providing one or more content items in response to the request and as a result of the auction.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for scroll pattern recognition is provided. First content is provided to an application with a scrolling interface and a display window. The application is configured to display a portion of the first content to a user based on a current display position, where the scrolling interface is configured to change the current display position based on input from the user. User interaction data that includes scroll data is obtained. The occurrence of an actionable event based on the user interaction data is determined. Second content is provided to the application based on the actionable event.

Abstract: A scrolling method receiving input values including pointing locations from a pointing device, giving weight to each of pointing locations of the received input values based on the generated time point of each of the received input values, calculating a result value for scrolling of content being displayed using pointing locations which have been given the weight, and controlling the scroll using the calculated result value.

Abstract: A method of transferring data between a first mobile terminal and a second terminal, the method includes displaying an object on a display unit of the first mobile terminal; receiving an input of a directional gesture on the displayed object; and transmitting the object to the second mobile terminal based on the input gesture, when the first mobile terminal and the second terminal are in a predetermined directional range with respect to each other.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating a user interface that enables a user to navigate content by requesting to zoom in or zoom out within the user interface. For example, an initial user interface that includes content at an initial zoom level may be generated for display. Based on a request to view content displayed in the initial user interface at a second zoom level, an updated user interface may be generated. The updated user interface may include an enlarged representation of some of the content previously displayed in the initial user interface and/or content not previously displayed at the initial zoom level. In some cases, the updated user interface may include dynamically generated content that is generated based at least in part on a user selection received in association with content displayed at a previously presented zoom level.

Abstract: A system and method for rendering a graphical user interface having recommendations. The method includes accessing, within a mobile device, a data store corresponding to a multimedia container. The multimedia container comprises a first object and a second object and the multimedia container is operable to comprise one or more applications, widgets, pieces of content, and other multimedia containers. The data store comprises metadata associated with the first object and the second object. The method further includes displaying a plurality of images each corresponding to a respective recommendation based at least on the metadata associated with the first object and receiving an input. The plurality of items is displayed within a first portion of a display device. The method further includes in response to the input, displaying the plurality of images within a second portion of the display device. The second portion of the display device is greater in size than the first portion of the display device.

Abstract: A display device and a control method thereof are provided. The display device includes: a touch screen which displays a screen and senses a gesture of a user on the screen; a video processor which process an image for displaying the screen; a communication unit which performs communication with at least one neighboring device; and a controller which performs control to display a miniature image of a screen of contents being displayed and a first user interface (UI) item showing a connected neighboring device of the at least one neighboring device if a first gesture of a user is made while displaying the screen corresponding to predetermined contents, and to transmit information for sharing the contents to the corresponding neighboring device in accordance with a second gesture of a user with regard to the miniature image and the first UI item.

Abstract: Techniques are described for display and navigation of hierarchical messages, which displays include contextual data for the messages. Context information for a current message includes reply messages, parent messages, and metadata representations. Message representations are also associated with visual depth indicators that are independent of the text of the messages. Users may navigate displays of hierarchical message data using different navigational inputs. For example, more information may be requested for messages, without selecting a new message for viewing as a focal message, using swipes across portions of the display dedicated to displaying the messages. A limited number of messages for a requested list of messages is initially retrieved and displayed, and a mechanism for viewing more messages from the list is provided. Historical usage of the mechanism is recorded and the number of messages to be displayed for the list of messages is adjusted based on the historical usage data.

A plurality of related documents may be scanned to determine whether an activation trigger associated with an application extension has been triggered. In response to determining that the activation trigger associated with the application extension has been triggered, the application extension may be triggered and a user interface element associated with the application extension may be displayed according to a display rule.

Abstract: A method of displaying a recorded material and display device using the same facilitates user recognition of the content of selected recorded material prior to its reproduction. The display device includes a personal video recorder for storing content of at least one recording item of a recording item list; a PVR controller (104) for extracting a plurality of thumbnails corresponding to each stored recorded item, each thumbnails being extracted in correspondence to a prescribed time interval; and a display module (106) for displaying the recording item list in response to a recording item list request and for simultaneously displaying, in response to a user selection of a specific recording item, the extracted thumbnails corresponding to the selected recording item via a corresponding plurality of preview windows. A specific preview window is designated, and the selected recording item is reproduced from a recording position corresponding to the thumbnail of the designated window.

In accordance with a determination that a change to the first input is detected within the first time period after detecting the first input, first media content is added to a playlist. In accordance with a determination that a change to the first input is not detected within the first time period after detecting the first input, the first media content is caused to be presented.

In some implementations, a computing device receives a request to encode as a web address a portion of a user interface provided in a web browser at the computing device. Each media file has attributed feature values stored in the device and is associated to a graphical element displayed on a display. The position of each graphical element on the display depends on a multitude of the feature values of the associated media file.

Abstract: Methods and systems for presenting information regarding multiple categories of content are provided. In addition, methods and systems that suggest activities by a user in relation to content and determined affinity for content in relation to user contacts are provided. A user interface application is provided that operates to display status and/or historical information regarding content, suggested activities, and suggested contacts. The user can interact with the interface to access detailed information and to act on suggestions. In addition the user can interact with the interface to share content to other users, including users participating in real time communication sessions.

Abstract: A system for navigating large bodies of content is provided. The system includes an interface component configured to generate a user interface for navigating a body of content on a display device, the interface comprising a display area, a scrollbar comprising a plurality of segments, a scroll box and an exit command widget attached to the scroll box. Each of the plurality of segments are associated with respective portions of the body of content and the scroll box is configured to move over the plurality of segments to navigate through the body content and cause a respective portion of the body of the content to be displayed in the display area when the scroll box is positioned over a segment associated with the respective portion, and wherein the scroll box is configured to move to the exit command widget directly from a segment to focus on the exit command widget.

The concept bar includes a plurality of concept tabs associated with concepts currently relevant to a collaborative communication session involving the user and other participants. The concept tabs are configured to enable interaction with the concept tabs by the user. The content window is presented separately from the concept bar, and includes content relevant to the collaborative communication session based on the concept tabs presented by the concept bar. The content presented by the content window is modified in response to interaction by the user with the concept tabs.

Abstract: A Virtual Collectible Distribution Network generates and distributes Virtual Collectible objects, each potentially possessing unique properties, over a computer network such as the Internet, to a group of users. The Distribution Network utilizes a client-server system. The client software can be standalone or embedded in another application, such as a web browser or game. In one scenario, the client software observes certain behaviors of the user, and communicates such behavior to the server, which process is transparent to the user. The server, based on the communications from the client, predefined algorithm, and other factors, may decide to award the user with a Virtual Collectible.

Abstract: In a method for data analysis using gestures, using a first gesture on a graphical representation of a data set, a first dimension is defined. Using the first dimension, a shape is defined on the graphical representation of the data set. A grid segments the graphical representation of the data set into several subsets represented as a several grid blocks. A subset corresponds to a grid block. The shape is a visual shape of the grid block, and the shape serves to define the bounds of the corresponding subset. A second gesture is made relative to a first target grid block in the several grid blocks. In response to the second gesture, a first data analysis computation is performed on a first target subset corresponding to the first target grid block. A result of the first data analysis computation is presented using a hardware device.

Abstract: An aid for developmentally disabled individuals takes the form of a mobile terminal having software capable of creating graphical schedules, graphical countdown timers, and graphical choice selections. A caregiver may dynamically program and save schedules which present a graphical sequence of events to the disabled individual to assist the disabled individual in adjusting to the changing events of the day. Likewise, the countdown timer may assist the individual in preparing for an upcoming transition in environment or activity. Still further, the graphical choice selections may help a nonverbal individual express themselves to a caregiver.
