Abstract: The invention described herein relates to a method of detecting malaria comprising the steps of: (i) delivering an evanescent IR beam through said ATR substrate in contact with a patient blood sample; (ii) detecting IR radiation transmitted from the ATR substrate to produce a signal characteristic for one or more lipids in the sample, and (iii) processing said signal and a set of reference library spectra of lipids associated with malaria parasites in order to detect matches and quantify said one or more lipids in the sample. In contrast to the prior art, the present invention relies on detecting lipids instead of hemozoin.

Abstract: Tracking devices for use in a navigation system and methods of manufacturing the same. The tracking device comprises a tracking head and a plurality of emitters supported by the tracking head to emit light. A plurality of dome-shaped lenses having arcuate inner and outer surfaces define an outer wall of uniform thickness disposed over the emitters so that light is emitted through the outer wall in a manner that minimizes light refraction.

Specifically, these systems and methods utilize competitive history data to provide improved pricing recommendations for sellers. This competitive history data can include a time series of one or more competitor's prices for a set of products. The systems and methods described herein can use this competitor price data with a corresponding time series of seller's data on their product prices and resulting demand to provide improved pricing recommendations to the seller. This use of competitive history data to provide improved pricing recommendations to sellers introduces significant complexity to the optimization of prices. Specifically, this use of competitive history data introduces significant non-convexity to the determination of pricing recommendations.

Abstract: A wearable system is directed to neurological stimulation of a human foot, and includes a controller with at least one bias signal generator for outputting a driving signal. The system further includes a power source that provides electrical energy to the controller, including providing electrical energy to the bias signal generator. The system also includes a platform in the form of an insole insert of a shoe, the insole insert having a plurality of actuators positioned in a medial arch region of the foot. The plurality of actuators stimulate the medial arch region in response to receiving the driving signal from the controller. The stimulation of the plurality of actuators provides a subthreshold bias signal to target cells with a subthreshold bias signal magnitude that is below a threshold where the target cells are activated by a stimulus. The plurality of actuators is surrounded with a vibration dissipating material.

This use of competitive history data to provide improved pricing recommendations to sellers introduces significant non-convexity to the determination of pricing recommendations. Accordingly, the systems and methods described herein employ a variety of technical approaches to generating the price recommendations in light of this introduced complexity. Additionally, the systems and methods employ various techniques to providing these price recommendations even when competitive history data is limited. Specifically, by using the limited to competitive history data to generate constraints, where the constraints can then be used for additional price optimizations where competitive history data is unavailable.

Abstract: The present invention provides a thin mucoadhesive sublingual film composition which provides improved allergen delivery and efficacy at a smaller dose while prolonging the contact time between the allergen and oral antigen presenting cells (APCs), and therefore minimizing the risk of systemic side effects. The thin film compositions of the present invention are also easier to standardize, and removes any need for measuring allergen doses at the physician's office, and which allows for a simplified dosing schedule. Methods of making the thin film compositions and methods for their use are also disclosed.
