Abstract: A retort agitation system (100) for thermal processing of products includes product carriers 102a and 102b mounted on a low friction support system 104 for reciprocal movement of the carriers along the interior of a retort. The product carriers are driven in reciprocating motion by a drive actuator system 106 that can be positioned between the carriers 102a and 102b or endwise of the two carriers 102a and 102b. A drive actuator system 106 is linked to the carriers to cause the carriers to move along opposite reciprocating paths lengthwise of the retort. Reaction actuators 108 act on the carriers in opposition to the drive actuator system 106 to apply forces on the carriers for accelerating the carriers along the reciprocating paths of travel when such carriers reach the distal and proximal ends of the reciprocating travel paths.

Abstract: An article including a first section of material, a second section of material, and a magnetic button assembly comprising a first component and a second component. The first component has a ring magnet and a body portion with the body portion having a fastening region with a first thread disposed therethrough for coupling the first component to the first section. A second thread passes though the second component for coupling the second component to the second section, and comprises at least one of a magnet and a ferromagnetic material to couple the second component to the first component thereby coupling the second section to the first section. The fastening region is formed of a polymeric material to minimize frictional wear of the first thread to prevent separation of the first component from the first section.

Abstract: An impact-absorbing padding system made of a single-layer thermoplastic polyurethane sheet. The bottom of the sheet is flat, and the top side is also flat and has multiple, spaced apart projections. The projections are frustaconal in shape, having a flat top side and an open bottom. At least some of the projections are connected by ribs. The number and height of the ribs varies to achieve variable hardness within the system.

Abstract: An integrated shoe comprises a first part and a second part directly attached to the first part. A method of making the integrated shoe comprises steps of injecting a first thermoplastic polymer mixture into a mold to obtain a first semi-molding part; injecting a second thermoplastic polymer mixture into the mold to obtain a second semi-molding part directly attached to a side surface of the first semi-molding part; and aging the first semi-molding part and the second semi-molding part to form a first part and a second part directly attached to the first part and obtain the integrated shoe. By omitting an adhesive layer, fabrication costs of the integrated shoe are lowered; in addition, yield of the method of making the integrated shoe is raised.

Abstract: An article of footwear in which certain regions of the upper may be slippery, such that it is more difficult for a person to firmly grasp the article of footwear. The eyestays in the article of footwear are biased towards the lateral side of the footwear. The article of footwear also has an outer sole with ridges at, for example, the back of the heel, the ball-of-the foot regions on the lateral and medial sides, respectively, of the article of footwear, and at the toe region. The ridges are angle downward, such that the wearer of the footwear may have increased traction by digging the ridges into the ground or into a playing surface.

Abstract: An article of footwear with an inner bootie that fits into and is strapped into an external shell to form the article of footwear. The inner bootie may have specially-treated regions that together allow the bootie to slip readily into the external shell and to be held firmly in place. When the inner bootie is in place in the external shell, cable loops woven into the lateral side and the medial side of the inner bootie protrude from corresponding openings in the external shell. A lace may then be laced through the cable loops to fasten the throat opening of the external shell over a wearer's foot.
