Abstract: A hair dryer with an ionizing solution provides a translucent reservoir which contains an ionized solution. The hair dryer heats the solution into a vapor, and may then be used to apply the ionized vapor to a salon client's hair while styling it, to prevent brittleness, damage, and split ends. In one embodiment a cradle is provided for recharging a handheld hair dryer and storing various attachments which are ready for immediate use. When separated from the handheld hair dryer, the cradle transfers electric power to the hair dryer via resonant inductive coupling, creating an oscillating magnetic field which is converted to electric power by components within the hair dryer. A second embodiment provides a standing hair dryer. The hair dryer also provides wireless internet and power outlets for mobile electronic devices.

Abstract: A retractable shoulder strap for portable objects, such as bags, purses, briefcases or carry-on luggage, comprises a shoulder pad, an elongated strip of pliant material, a plurality of holes positioned at substantially uniform intervals along the length of the elongated strip, and retractors located inside the shoulder pad. Extendible guide wires passing through the plurality of holes connect the ends of the elongated strip to the retractors, which are spring-biased to automatically retract the guide wires and stow the elongated strip inside internal storage spaces in the shoulder pad, thereby eliminating slack in the strap when no tension is applied to the ends of the elongated strip. When tension is applied to the ends of the elongated strip, the portions of the elongated strip stowed in the internal storage spaces of the shoulder pad are automatically extracted, thereby increasing the length of the strap to facilitate normal over-the-shoulder use.

Abstract: A seat pivotably mounted to a seat base via a swivel connector, and a work surface assembly pivotably mounted above the seat base and below the seat via the swivel connector. In particular, a bushing may be attached to an outer surface of the swivel connector in a manner in which the bushing is axially fixed, yet rotatable relative to the swivel connector, such as via an arrangement of protrusions and grooves on the bushing and connector, respectively. A portion of the tablet arm is received over the bushing, such that the bushing provides a low-friction interface between work surface assembly and the seat. In this arrangement, the pivot connection between the work surface assembly and the chair is functionally independent of the pivot connection between the seat and seat base. This functional independence facilitates assembly of the work surface assembly to the chair, and allows the pivotable work surface to be retrofit to preexisting swivel chairs.

Abstract: A furniture arrangement includes a worksurface having a side edge and opposite front and rear edges, where the worksurface is vertically spaced so as to define leg space beneath each of the front and rear edges. A chair is positioned adjacent the rear edge and has a backrest defined by first and second back support portions extending in first and second directions. The first and second back support portions are substantially perpendicular. The first back support portion has an end positioned adjacent the rear edge such that the second back support portion is spaced from the rear edge and defines an ingress and egress opening between the second back support portion and the rear edge. The first and second back support portions and the rear edge define a U-shaped occupancy space in plan view.
