Abstract: A slip-resistant shock absorbing golf club grip that includes a felt layer, a fabric mesh formed of fibers and a polyurethane coating covering the mesh and felt, the fibers of the mesh defining grooves in the surface of the slip-resistant polyurethane which are engaged by a users' hands, with the polyurethane coating being buffed to partially expose the fibers.
Abstract: A novel cross-plied material is formed of portions of a ply of a ballistic-resistant structure composed of unidirectionally-oriented bundles of high strength filaments laminated between opposing thermoplastic films which portions are cross-plied with portions of a continuous ply of a similar ballistic-resistant structure with a plurality of yarns laterally spaced into a linear array corresponding to the width of the continuous ply along the ply direction. Substantially continuous coatings or deposits of a bonding or coupling agent on the yarns cause a plurality of substantially continuous bonding strips to be formed between the continuous ply and the portions of cross-ply, with the bonding strips being laid in a laterally spaced linear array corresponding to the yarns. The bonding strips couple the cross-ply portions with consecutive portions of the continuous ply, whereby the continuous ply and the cross-ply portions are adhered sufficiently to prevent their being pulled apart.
Abstract: The invention provides an improved method for forming a composite material mainly composed of carbon fiber. It is difficult to form an H-shaped structural member formed of a prepreg material having carbon fiber fabric impregnated with epoxy resin into a member having curvature. Thus, the structural member is divided into two bendable constructional elements 110 and 120, which are bent to given curvature then adhesively-bonded to form a structural member having curvature.
Abstract: A method of forming a composite body using a mould and an automated fiber placement machine comprising a fiber placement head, the method including moving the fiber placement head past the mould and depositing on the mould a plurality of fiber tows, the fiber tows being deposited side by side in a direction perpendicular to the movement of the fiber placement head and perpendicular to the direction of a normal of a surface of the mould where the fiber tows are deposited, thus forming a ply with a plurality of fiber tows placed side by side on the mould, wherein the fiber tows in the ply comprise first and second fiber tows having respective first and second fiber materials that are different from each other.
Abstract: A container is provided having a periphery and a base, which enclose a cavity. The periphery and the base are connected together, the periphery upwardly extending from the base. The periphery has a first slot and a substantially opposing second slot. Each of the first and second slots is sized to permit a first end of a tape located on a roll to be slid through it. A tape holder may be connected to the container so that the tape holder lies outside of the cavity of the container. The roll of tape can be placed on the tape holder so when the tape is pulled through the “mud box”, the tape is thereby unwound. As the tape is manually pulled through the “mud box”, joint compound is thinly applied to one side of the tape. As this is done, the joint compound begins to “adhere” to the tape, conditioning the tape for excellent wall adhesion.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a component for connecting a fuselage cell skin to an annular rib of an aircraft, wherein the component is formed by bending of a flat blank along at last two edge lines and wherein the blank is formed by a CFRP. According to the invention the interlaminar sliding of the fiber layers is largely completed in a first forming step, while in a second forming step a consolidation of the component takes place by the use of pressure from the press on all sides by means of an upper tool and a lower tool. This enables complex components with at least two edge lines to be produced, which edge lines run at angles of approximately, preferably at angles of 309° to 90°, to each other, and which edge lines also lie in at least two different planes.
