With Terminal Elements Patents (Class 174/176)
  • Patent number: 5130495
Abstract: A cable termination assembly for terminating a high voltage current-carrying conductor includes an outer porcelain housing and an inner polymeric liner of low durometer, cast in the housing before insertion of the cable. The liner is bonded to the housing wall to prevent air voids. A metal base member amy be employed and may include an upstanding shielding collar extending part way into the housing and being joined thereto by the cast liner.

  • Patent number: 4973798
Abstract: A rigid electrical insulator of the type having a base or a pin at its bottom and having at least one groove (18 or 19) for receiving an electrical cable at its top, the insulator being characterized by the fact that it includes at least one central rod (1) fixed at its bottom end to the base (5) or to the pin and at its top end to a rigid head (7) provided with at least one channel (8 or 9), the outside faces of the rod and of the rigid head (7) being covered in waterproof manner by a covering (10), with the head covering being of a flexible elastomer and the rod covering being selected from elastomers, resins, and varnishes, the groove (18 or 19) being defined by the channel (8 or 9) covered by its covering.

  • Patent number: 4663498
Abstract: Assembly composed of a rod (6) and a tubular sleeve body (1), such as a terminal holder for a rod-shaped insulator core, wherein one end of the rod (6) is inserted into and retained in the interior of the sleeve. The interior of the sleeve (1) comprises a guide portion (9) of a diameter essentially corresponding to the diameter of the rod (6), and a widened portion (12) arranged inside of the guide portion (9). The end portion of the rod (6) is formed with a portion (7) of reduced diameter and a portion (8) widened therefrom towards the end of the rod. A plurality of locking bodies in the form of spheres (21) are disposed in the annular space (23) formed between the widened portion (12) of the sleeve body (1) and the rod portion (7) of reduced diameter, and in a locking position these spheres bear against the inner wall of the sleeve and the outer wall of the rod (6), these spheres being kept in place by a hardened binding agent (22) filling said annular space (23).

  • Patent number: 4654478
Abstract: An improved synthetic resin insulator comprising a reinforced plastic rod and a holding metal fitting having a sleeve is disclosed. In the insulator, the reinforced plastic rod is firmly secured to the sleeve of the holding metal fitting by a divided die means including at least five pieces, wherein the rod is inserted into the sleeve and the outer surface of the rod is substantially uniformly compressed in the centripetal direction by the inner surface of the sleeve by pressure exerted by each of the five divided die means pieces, so that the outer circumference of the rod is uniformly compressed at an optional cross-section thereof. The insulator is free from cracks and whitening in the rod and has an improved durable life.

  • Patent number: 4360288
Abstract: A fiberglass sucker rod construction is disclosed comprising a cylindrical fiberglass rod having a steel connector member adhesively bonded to each end thereof. The steel connector members are basically identical in their manner of being affixed to each end of the fiberglass rod, each connector member having an internal receptacle defining a series of tapered annular spaces for receiving an epoxy adhesive material which bonds the fiberglass rod in the metal connector member, thereby forming a unitary sucker rod having a male thread connector at one end and a mating female connector at the other end thereof. The epoxy adhesive cures, forming a sleeve having a series of annular tapering surfaces defining annular wedges that are oriented such that tension applied to the rod causes the wedges to be compressed between the rod and connector member, resulting in a radially inwardly directed force to retain the rod in position against such tension.
