  • Patent number: 6755333
Abstract: A tape guide post mechanism for guiding running of a tape is provided. The tape guide post mechanism includes a post arm, the post arm including a tape guide post, around which the tape is looped, and which guides running of the tape, and a hole. The tape guide post mechanism further includes an arm shaft which engages with the hole and rotatably supports the post arm. The arm shaft has an elastic portion which presses a portion of the post arm. As a result a small sized, inexpensive tape guide post mechanism, which has a simple structure, in which the slant of each element is accurately controlled, and which achieves decreases in size and cost of the magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus, can be obtained.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for automatically feeding slider-zipper assemblies to a station where the slider-zipper assemblies can be attached to bag material such as thermoplastic film. The apparatus includes a slider guide having a channel running the length thereof. The channel has a cross section that allows passage therethrough of sliders slidably mounted to a tape of connected slider-zipper assemblies. A tape drive mechanism is located at the outlet of the slider guide. The tape drive mechanism includes a pair of rollers that form a nip therebetween. The zipper flanges of the tape are threaded through the nip. The rollers have respective grooves that form a space for passage of the sliders as the tape is advanced by the rollers.

  • Patent number: 6609645
Abstract: A tape roller bearing is provided that prevents the development of an air film between the roller surface and the tape. The spool surface is made from porous material so that air flows through the spool surface. The porous material vents air uniformly over the roller surface, and the tape remains in direct contact with the roller, even at high speed. The inventive roller has many advantages, including improvement of tape wear characteristics, enhancement of tape guiding abilities, and increased tape speed stability.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for minimizing the problem of "fluting" or "corrugating" occuring in printed webs of light weight coated paper printed on both sides with thermosetting ink on heat-set web-offset printing presses resides in spreading the web in its width-wise direction as the printed web exits from the ink drying and heat setting oven of the press and passes over the web cooling chill rolls downstream from the oven, thereby to hold the printed web in a flat and smooth condition until it is cooled and the ink has taken a permanent set. Spreading the web prior to and during cooling allows the inks to thermoset in a flat state because the web is kept flat and free of flutes during thermosetting of the inks. The method and apparatus facilitate operation of the press at higher speeds and with lighter grades of paper than conventional, and provide for increased production efficiencies, lower costs, enhanced print quality, and access to new markets for web-offset printing.

  • Patent number: 5850982
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for the winding of a knitted material web which is being delivered from a warp knitting machine to a material roll by using an axial drive which is being regulated by sensors which measure the tension in the material web. For the purpose of winding a knitted elastic material, a spreader roller is arranged adjacent to the run-on site of the web onto the material roll and is held there with a constant gap. In order to maintain an essentially constant gap between the spreader roller and the material roll, the spreader roller undergoes a relative shifting along a radial guide.

  • Patent number: 5833125
Abstract: A pinch roller assembly for use in a video cassette recorder, which comprises: a pinch roller, a supporting shaft provided with a cylindrical section and a spherical portion protruding therefrom, a sleeve having an upper section, a lower section and a contact section joining them together, and a bush provided with a tapered surface. The spherical portion of the supporting shaft comes into a loose contact with the contact section of the sleeve and the tapered surface of the bush, and there exist gaps between the cylindrical section of the supporting shaft and the upper section of the sleeve and between the cylindrical section of the supporting shaft and the inner surface of the bush, respectively, to thereby allow the pinch roller to pivot about the spherical portion of the supporting shaft and to realign itself to be parallel with respect to a capstan shaft while it presses against a capstan shaft.

Abstract: A ticket dispensing device having a braking system for preventing unauthorized removal of tickets. A drive roller advancing the ticket strip through the device is connected to a brake wheel. Pulling on the ticket moves the brake wheel into a braking member to impede the rotation of the drive roller, and thereby prevent removal of tickets. The ticket dispensing device also includes a face plate which can be easily and quickly removed to eliminate ticket jams.

  • Patent number: 5819835
Abstract: A roll-up apparatus including a curtain suspended within a room to be divided or partially closed off and a roll member at the bottom edge of the curtain around which the curtain winds and unwinds. The curtain is raised by rolling the curtain up from the bottom around the roll member, and lowered by unrolling the curtain from around the roll member. Belts spaced along the width of the curtain are looped under the curtain wound roll member and windably attached to a motor driven take-up shaft. When wound around the take-up shaft, the belts are pulled upward to effect a rolling of the curtain around the roll member that raises the curtain. The belts are structured, such as by the provision of a coating material, to adhere to the material of the curtain to prevent belt slippage relative to the curtain and to thereby effect a relatively tight curtain winding. Crowned rollers which achieve a self-centering effect on the belts are also provided to cause the belts to wind about themselves on the take-up shaft.

  • Patent number: 5775564
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing the wear of the belt mantle of an extended-nip roll including a resilient belt mantle arranged to revolve on support of bearings around a stationary central axle. The central axle has loading members connected with it, such as a loading shoe, which are pressed by the pressure of a loading medium, such as hydraulic fluid, towards a backup roll, whereby the belt mantle conforms to the shape of the backup roll in the area of the shoe. Actuators connected with the ends of the belt mantle are provided and act with a force upon the ends of the belt mantle of the extended-nip roll so that the direction of stretching of the belt mantle of the extended-nip roll is reversed alternatingly by controlling the actuators and/or locking devices which lock the ends of the belt mantle.
