Abstract: The invention relates to an electric-motor arrangement for a medical, in particular dental, hand piece which has a motor housing (2) and a rotor (4) which is arranged in the motor housing (2) so that it can be rotated about an axis (L) via a first bearing (6) and a second bearing (8). A stator (14) is arranged around the rotor (4) in relation to the axis (L). The first bearing (6) is received in a first bearing flange (10), and the second bearing (8) is received in a second bearing flange (12). Both bearing flanges (10, 12) are composed of metal and adjoin the motor housing (2) directly by way of their circumferential faces (101, 121). As a result, running noise and vibrations can be reduced. Moreover, premature wear and/or failure can be prevented.

Abstract: A heat dissipation structure for sealed machine tools includes a motor rotor rotating to drive airflow to perform heat dissipation simultaneously. It includes a machine tool housing with a heat dissipation vent and a chamber inside, a stator in the chamber and a rotor located between the stator and the housing. The rotor and the housing wall form a swirling flow space between them. The rotor and the stator form an axial flow space between them. The swirling flow space and the axial flow space communicate through a radial airflow passage. The rotor has at least one flow directing portion. The rotor rotates relative to the stator. The stator generates thermal airflow which flows from the axial flow space through a radial airflow passage to the swirling flow space. Abstract: A permanent magnet, DC motor especially well adapted for use in power tools, and particularly hand-held, battery powered power tools. The motor includes two sets of armature coils, with each set of coils being coupled to separate sets of commutator bars on an armature. Separate pairs of brushes are used to interface with the two sets of commutator bars. A switching subsystem is controlled either manually by a user engageable switch or automatically by a controller, to connect the two sets of coils in either series or parallel configurations. The series configuration provides a greater efficiency, but with a lower power output than the parallel connection. The parallel connection provides a greater maximum power output from the motor. Thus, the operating characteristics of the tool can be tailored to better meet the needs of a work task, and in a manner than makes most efficient use of available battery power.
