Camera, System And Detail Patents (Class 348/207.99)
  • Patent number: 9792672
Abstract: Embodiments provide a video camera that can be configured to highly compress video data in a visually lossless manner. The camera can be configured to transform blue and red image data in a manner that enhances the compressibility of the data. The data can then be compressed and stored in this form. This allows a user to reconstruct the red and blue data to obtain the original raw data for a modified version of the original raw data that is visually lossless when demosaiced. Additionally, the data can be processed in a manner in which the green image elements are demosaiced first and then the red and blue elements are reconstructed based on values of the demosaiced green image elements.

  • Patent number: 9774800
Abstract: Spatio-temporal light field cameras that can be used to capture the light field within its spatio temporally extended angular extent. Such cameras can be used to record 3D images, 2D images that can be computationally focused, or wide angle panoramic 2D images with relatively high spatial and directional resolutions. The light field cameras can be also be used as 2D/3D switchable cameras with extended angular extent. The spatio-temporal aspects of the novel light field cameras allow them to capture and digitally record the intensity and color from multiple directional views within a wide angle. The inherent volumetric compactness of the light field cameras make it possible to embed in small mobile devices to capture either 3D images or computationally focusable 2D images. The inherent versatility of these light field cameras makes them suitable for multiple perspective light field capture for 3D movies and video recording applications.

  • Patent number: 9769446
Abstract: An apparatus and related methods for enhancing low dynamic range and high dynamic range digital images. The process converts single digital images into a form that can be shown on traditional electronic and computer displays and paper prints through luminance mapping and tone mapping functions. These functions require the calculation of values for each pixel within the digital image. The values calculated include, but are not limited to, color, grey-level, and luminance. The present apparatus and method builds upon the tone mapping process by combining log-average luminance values of various sized neighborhood tiles with the global log-average luminance of the entire image.

  • Patent number: 9563822
Abstract: A first extracting unit extracts partial images from a learning image. A first calculator calculates a feature amount of the partial image. A retrieving unit retrieves objects included in the partial image, and gives, as a label, a vector to the feature amount. The vector represents relative positions between a first position in the partial image and each object included in the partial image. A voting unit generates a voting histogram for each partial image. A learning unit divides the feature amount of each partial image into clusters to reduce variation of the corresponding voting histogram, so as to learn a regression model representing a relationship between the feature amount of the partial image and the relative position of the object included in the partial image. A first predicting unit predicts, for each cluster, a representative label from the label given to the feature amount belonging to the cluster.

  • Patent number: 9554052
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for single-action photo and video messaging includes simultaneously displaying both a live feed representing visual data captured by a video recording device and a plurality of contact icons, each contact icon associated with one or more destinations to which media data can be sent. A single action is received from a user selecting one of the plurality of the displayed contact icons. In response to the user's single action and not based on any subsequent input from the user, the following steps are carried out automatically: capturing visual data from the video recording device, and sending, to the one or more destinations associated with the selected contact icon, the captured visual data.

  • Patent number: 9549112
Abstract: There is provided an image capturing apparatus including a movable unit. An acceleration detection unit detects an acceleration of the image capturing apparatus. A geomagnetic detection unit detects geomagnetism. A determining unit determines a direction of the image capturing apparatus by using the acceleration detected by the acceleration detection unit and the geomagnetism detected by the geomagnetic detection unit. When determining the direction of the image capturing apparatus at a predetermined timing during an operation period of the movable unit, the determining unit determines the direction of the image capturing apparatus by using the acceleration detected by the acceleration detection unit before start of the operation period of the movable unit and the geomagnetism detected by the geomagnetic detection unit during the operation period of the movable unit.

Abstract: A system for modular image mining and search, comprising a plurality of image capture devices, a search engine, an indexing engine, a database, and user interface software. A plurality of image capture devices capture images and store them to a database. The indexing engine indexes images to create image data for each image with associated metadata and stores the information to the database. The interface software is used to request search queries via a search engine. The search engine accesses the image data to find images or parts of images that satisfy the search query.

  • Patent number: 9531973
Abstract: Because a conventionally known imaging apparatus includes a buffer element for each signal processing circuit, the number of buffer elements increases in proportion to the number of signal processing circuits. The delayed supply of a drive signal within a group of a plurality of signal processing circuits may require the operation timing margin to be set longer. In other words, the operational speed is hard to increase. First buffer circuits connected in series and second buffer circuits connected in parallel with the first buffer circuits are provided, and one second buffer circuit supplies a drive signal to a plurality of signal processing units.

  • Patent number: 9532027
Abstract: Mathematical relationships between the scene geometry, camera parameters, and viewing environment are used to control stereography to obtain various results influencing the viewer's perception of 3D imagery. The methods may include setting a horizontal shift, convergence distance, and camera interaxial parameter to achieve various effects. The methods may be implemented in a computer-implemented tool for interactively modifying scene parameters during a 2D-to-3D conversion process, which may then trigger the re-rendering of the 3D content on the fly.

  • Patent number: 9525825
Abstract: A camera on a computing device can capture a plurality of images, each with a different exposure setting but having the same subject. The images can be stored, at least temporarily, in a memory device on the computing device. The device can determine a time subsequent to the capturing of the images at which to process the plurality of images. For example, the time can be when the camera is not being used and/or when the computing device has sufficient resources (e.g., processing power, battery life, etc.) to process the plurality of images. At the determined time, the computing device can process the plurality of images to generate at least one high dynamic range (HDR) image. The processing of the plurality of images to generate the at least one HDR image can be based at least in part upon combining at least some portions of the plurality of images.
