  • Patent number: 9512819
Abstract: A wind of the type having a tower and a nacelle with a rotor rotatably connected to the nacelle for rotating about a rotor axis and having a plurality of equally spaced blades has the rotor balanced by firstly taking a measurement of torsional vibration and then by using photographic techniques to analyze dynamic imbalance caused by differences in the angle of attack of the blades. The torsional vibration is detected using two sensors at positions mirrored exactly in distance to the left and right of the rotor axis and detecting vibration in the axial direction. The angle of attack is measured by analyzing images of the tip of the blade where, during the analysis, distortion in angles at different locations in the image are corrected, in dependence upon a prior analysis of an image taken by the camera relative to a known image.

  • Patent number: 9510018
Abstract: A signal processor receives settings information. The settings information specifies a setting of a given element for each image in a sequence of multiple images in which the given element resides. The signal processor also receives precision metadata specifying an estimated precision of each of the settings of the given element for each image in the sequence. Based on the settings information and the precision metadata, the signal processor generates a setting value for the given element. If the setting value produced for the given element is relatively stable, and thus likely a better representation of a setting for the given element than a current setting of the given element, the signal processor utilizes the generated setting value instead of the current setting for encoding purposes.

Abstract: A soft packaged sealed battery is contained in an airtight container. The airtight container is decompressed and images of the surface shape of the sealed battery in the airtight container before and after decompression are captured by a CCD camera or the like. Whether or not airtightness of the sealed battery is maintained is determined based on a change in the captured images, e.g. a change in the surface shape appearing as luminance differences of pixels. By this determination method, highly accurate airtightness determination is realized by eliminating the influence of invisible fine creases on a sealed battery surface.

  • Patent number: 9350918
Abstract: Approaches are described for managing an image displayed on a computing device. An image of an object is displayed on an interface of the device. An activation movement performed by a user (such as a forward and backward motion) can cause the device to enable an image view control mode (such as a zoom control mode) that can be used to adjust a portion of the image being displayed on the interface. The activation movement can also be used to set a detection range, where a movement of the device within the range can cause the device to adjust the displayed image based on the image view control mode. Thereafter, in response to a motion being detected (such as moving the device towards the object), the device can adjust a portion of the image being displayed on the interface, such as displaying a “zoomed in” portion of the image.

  • Patent number: 9330447
Abstract: An image evaluation device (101) properly evaluating the graininess (or roughness) of an image is provided. The blurer (102) creates a second image b by blurring a first image a. The differentiator (103) creates a third image c presenting the difference between the first image a and second image b. The pixel value of each pixel of the third image c presents the difference in pixel value between the pixels at the same position in the first image a and second image b. The scanner (104) scans the pixels contained in the third image c, obtains the differences in pixel value between adjoining pixels, and obtains the respective probabilities of occurrence of the differences. The calculator (105) calculates the entropy from the obtained, respective probabilities of occurrence of the differences. The outputter (106) outputs the entropy as the evaluation value of the graininess (or roughness) of the first image.

Abstract: The present invention relates to computer capture of object motion. More specifically, embodiments of the present invention relate to capturing of facial movement or performance of an actor. Embodiments of the present invention provide a head-mounted camera system that allows the movements of an actor's face to be captured separately from, but simultaneously with, the movements of the actor's body. In many embodiments, multiple cameras are provided mounted on a bracket for placement on the head of an actor. In some embodiments, the cameras record grayscale images of an actor's face, which has been marked with dots of makeup. In many embodiments, the cameras record images of an actor's face from at least two angles.

  • Patent number: 9325964
Abstract: A video signal is processed in a video device (50). The video signal transfers video data representing either three dimensional video [3D] content formatted according to a 3D format or 2D content formatted according to a 2D format. The video signal has a 2D frame and a control structure of a 2D format for being compatible with existing distribution systems. The device has a processor (52) for providing a 3D status signal indicative of the format of the video signal. The processor determines a respective format score for at least one of the possible 3D formats by processing the video data according to respective predetermined format properties for deriving and comparing respective 3D subframes, and sets the 3D status signal based on an assessment of the format score to indicate the format of the video signal. Advantageously the 3D format is detected automatically and a 3D display can be controlled accordingly.

Abstract: A camera that provides for a panorama mode of operation that stitches together two or more images to create a single image with a wide format. In panorama mode, a live view of a scene is transformed from rectangular coordinates to cylindrical coordinates and displayed by the camera. Also, an overlap portion between the previous image and the next image to be captured is characterized. In real time, after the previous image is captured, the overlap portion of the previous image is also transformed from rectangular coordinates into cylindrical coordinates. Next, the camera displays an overlay of at least a portion of the overlap portion onto the live view of the next image to be captured. And this overlay can assist the user in aligning the live view of the next image to be captured with the overlap portion of the previously captured image.
