Abstract: A first communication path for receiving a communication is established. The communication includes speech, which is processed. A speech pattern is identified as including a voice-command. A portion of the speech pattern is determined as including the voice-command. That portion of the speech pattern is separated from the speech pattern and compared with a second speech pattern. If the two speech patterns match or resemble each other, the portion of the speech pattern is accepted as the voice-command. An operation corresponding to the voice-command is determined and performed. The operation may perform an operation on a remote device, forward the voice-command to a remote device, or notify a user. The operation may create a second communication path that may allow a headset to join in a communication between another headset and a communication device, several headsets to communicate with each other, or a headset to communicate with several communication devices.

Abstract: A logical location of a user may be inferred using semantics of the user's computing device(s). The logical locations may correspond to venues visited by the user, such as frequently visited venues, referred to as hubs. Logical hubs, representing logical locations, may be tagged to the computing device by classifying the device as being associated with a logical hub. Classification may be based on signals or features of the device, such as device usage or device characteristics. The device may be monitored to detect user activity. Based on analysis of the user activity and associated logical hub, the user's logical location may be inferred. A computer user-experience may be personalized to the user based on the user's inferred logical location or logical hub(s) associated with the device. In some cases, geographical location information is not used to determine the logical hubs or infer a user's logical location.
Abstract: A Data Entry Confirmation System (DECS) is provided whereby a user with a communication device capable of communicating with the DECS is able to perform a pre-dialing operation based on contact information inputted onto the communication device and transmitted by said communication device to the DECS. Thus, the DECS is able to perform a reverse caller ID operation allowing a user to confirm identity of the party the user wishes to call prior to actually calling the party. The DECS uses the input contact information to retrieve corresponding contact information from one or more databases with which it is in communication and transmit said output contact information to the user device.
Abstract: A system and method provide for the immediate transmission of a potential alarm to a remote alarm signal escrow site and from the escrow site to a host station in the event where a control panel or an alarm signaling device is tampered with or destroyed by a disablement tactic, e.g., a “crash and smash intrusion.” A system and method may also send an alarm signal during such an attack by using predictive analysis of real-time events.

Abstract: Implementing a multimedia calling line identification presentation service. A multimedia resource notification module obtains a storage address of a multimedia resource that is stored by a resource storage entity and that is subscribed to by a calling terminal, and sends the storage address of the multimedia resource to a resource playing entity. A service management module establishes a media channel between the resource playing entity and the called terminal for playing the multimedia resource. Establishing the media channel includes sending multimedia session information to the called terminal, the multimedia session information having been received by the service management module from the resource playing entity. Establishing the media channel also includes sending negotiated multimedia session information to the resource playing entity, the negotiated multimedia session information having been received by the service management module from the called terminal.
Abstract: From one perspective, an apparatus receives a request for a calling terminal device to initiate a session with a called terminal device. Based on the request, the apparatus obtains a storage address of the multimedia resource, and sends the address to the called terminal device. Based on sending the address the apparatus receives, from the called terminal device, a message indicating the called terminal device is playing the multimedia resource, and a message indicating that the called terminal device is off-hook. The called terminal device stops playing the multimedia resource when off-hook. From another perspective, a terminal device receives a storage address of a multimedia resource from a service management entity. The terminal device downloads the multimedia resource from a resource storage entity, and plays the multimedia resource as part of ringing, and before detecting that it is off-hook. The terminal device ceases playback after detecting it is off-hook.
Abstract: The present invention is related to telecommunications, and in particular, to methods and systems for processing call signaling data. In an embodiment, a call processing system receives a first message from a switch while the switch is processing a call for a calling party, wherein the first message is initiated at least partly in response to a firing of a call event trigger configured within a switch. The first message includes call signaling information, including the calling party's phone number. The calling party's phone number is stored in the call processing system. A communication channel is established over a network between the call processing system and a computer associated with the called party. A message is transmitted to the networked computer, the message including the calling party's phone number, wherein the calling party's phone number is intended to be displayed on the networked computer associated with the called party.
Abstract: A method and system are described for enhancing the security of calls made by a member of a controlled environment to an outside party, particularly when the outside party communicates via a cellular phone. An application is provided for the cellular device, which must communicate and register with a calling platform of the controlled environment. Certain elements of personal verification data are obtained by the user of the cellular device and stored at the calling platform for later reference. Calls from the inmate to the cellular device cause the calling platform to issue a notification to the user via the application. The user verifies his/her identity using the application, after which the call can be connected. As a further security measure, certain conditions can be required and periodically checked during the call to ensure the user remains verified.
Abstract: A secure telephone call management system is provided for authenticating users of a telephone system in an institutional facility. Authentication of the users of the telephone call management system is accomplished by using a personal identification number, biometric means, and/or radio frequency means. The secure telephone call management system includes accounting software capable of limiting access to the system based on funds in a user's account, and includes management software capable of implementing widespread or local changes to the system. The system monitors a conversation in the telephone call to detect a presence of a first characteristic in audio of the conversation, and terminates the telephone call if the first characteristic does not match a second characteristic of biometric information of a user or a called party.
Abstract: In one embodiment, a user places a mobile device (e.g., a smart phone) facing downward on a table. A process running on the mobile device determines an orientation of the mobile device (i.e., a facing downward orientation), and determines that the mobile device has been in the facing downward orientation for over a threshold period of time (e.g., 3 seconds), then the process automatically selects a “Quiet” notification profile, and turn off the mobile device's display, without additional input from the user.

Abstract: A video conference endpoint includes a microphone array to detect ultrasound transmitted by a user device and that is encoded with a user identity. The endpoint determines a position of the user device relative to the microphone array based on the detected ultrasound and recovers the user identity from the detected ultrasound. The microphone array also detects audio in an audio frequency range perceptible to humans from an active talker, and determines a position of the active talker relative to the microphone array based on the detected audio. The endpoint determines whether the position of the active talker and the position of the user device are within a predetermined positional range of each other. If it is determined that the positions are both within the predetermined positional range, the endpoint assigns the user identity to the active talker.
