Patent number: 5642971Abstract: A truck bed railing system including a bracket with depending legs with holes in the legs so that the brackets may be attached to the top of the rear side panel of a truck bed with screws. The top of said bracket has a U-shaped profile to mate with standard PVC pipe with the pipe serving as the bed rails. A metal sleeve fits in the cradle of the bracket. The sleeve is a hollow cylinder that holds the PVC pipe securely against the U-shaped upper portion of the bracket. Once the PVC pipe has been threaded through the sleeve, it is anchored with a screw passing through the sleeve, the pipe and the bracket, and further secured with a nut on the underside of the bracket. The brackets are designed to secure the railing to the truck bed. The brackets are placed on top of the side panels running the length of the truck bed, from the truck's cab to its tailgate.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1995Date of Patent: July 1, 1997Inventor: Hans L. Patent number: 5553981Abstract: A cargo holder for securing cargo loads in the bed of a pickup truck consists of a metal bar formed with a first hook at one end to engage the bottom edge of the wall of a pickup truck and a second hook at an opposite end to catch a loop in a tie-down rope. A flexible cylindrical tube disposed around the body of the metal bar can be slid downwards when securing the holder to a truck wall, thereby creating a clamping action between the tube and the first hook which secures the holder to the wall of the pickup truck. After several cargo holders have been positioned around the cargo bed and tie-down ropes have been arranged so as to catch the second hooks of the holders, the foam tubes of the cargo holders are slid upwards so as to provide a cushioned barrier between each cargo holder and the truck's finish, thereby preventing accidental marring of the truck.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1993Date of Patent: September 10, 1996Inventor: Leon T. The fastening device includes a stud, threadedly connectible to a base and mounting a collar and a bushing member. The bushing member and collar cooperate to provide a swivel mount for the load ring. The bushing member and stud cooperate to transfer variable loadings into the base in a manner predictable from their size and configuration.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1984Date of Patent: June 3, 1986Inventor: Gary E. Patent number: 4570987Abstract: The invention involves a swivel eyebolt of the type which relies on a threaded stud to anchor a bonnet and accompanying ring to a load allowing the bonnet 360.degree. or rotation. Of special consequence is the structure which features a bushing applied around the exposed part of the stud and held in place by the head of the stud so that a flange on the bushing engages the load. The bonnet in turn is clamped rotatably on the bushing so that the bonnet in fact rotates about the bushing as well as about the stud.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1984Date of Patent: February 18, 1986Inventors: Hon Wong, Shui K. Patent number: 4531774Abstract: An anchor assembly is provided for downward reception in an upwardly opening stake receiving socket formed in the upper marginal edge portion of the wall of a pickup truck load bed. The anchor assembly includes a base plate for disposition within the upper portion of the load bed sidewalls socket and the upper end portion of a pair of depending arms are shiftably supported from opposite marginal edge portions of the base plate for oscillatory movement of the lower end portions of the arms toward and away from each other. The arms may closely oppose corresponding remote wall portions of the socket and an upright elongated fastener is threaded through a central portion of the base plate and includes a lower end portion disposed between the lower end portions of the arms and having an abutment carried thereon.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1983Date of Patent: July 30, 1985Inventor: Gene Whatley

Patent number: 4488333Abstract: A lash device constructed according to the present invention includes a stiff flexible plate adapted to be attached to a substrate in overlying engagement therewith. The plate has a strap restraining device, in the form of a cross bar, on the upper face thereof, and has an outwardly flared peripheral wiper edge defining a recessed surface area on the underside of the plate. An attaching area on the plate is adapted to be fixed to the substrate to attach the plate thereto with the recessed surface area disposed in overlying engagement with the substrate, thereby flexing the plate to press the wiper edge firmly against the substrate along a continuous line of engagement therewith.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1982Date of Patent: December 18, 1984Inventor: Richard J.
